  1. Actually, according to wikipedia, the recording dates for the first two were separated by 13 months (November of 73 for the first and December of 74 for FBN).
  2. Ok. I see that according to wikipedia the lyrics to this one and "Best I Can" were both done by Geddy. Was the rest of the album's lyrics done by Peart? Also, and I'm not sure everyone will agree with me here but imo the FBN album is a little closer in sound to CoS than it is to the debut. I admit a part of that is Peart's drums and lyrics but not just that.
  3. I just heard this on Sirus XM's deep tracks channel earlier today and it made me remember that I always seem to read where people don't think much of this one. Maybe people don't like it because it's centered mostly around the guitar riff but what a riff it is. I'd say next to By Tor And The Snow Dog it's maybe my favorite from FBN. The title track is a bit too overplayed imo. The whole album is great but this has always been one of my favorites from it.
  4. Geddy but also Tony Levin, Chris Squire (RIP), John Wetton and Greg Lake. Many others too.
  5. Actually it is considered by many (especially by hardcore prog fans) to be the greatest prog album ever made. It's been the number one album on the progarchives website for as long as I can remember and I definitely think it deserves the reputation it has.
  6. Apparently, Roger Dean (the artist) wanted the main focus to be the new logo. I don't mind the cover actually. I think relayer and tales are better covers but as far as covers go it's better than the Beatles white album for example.
  7. https://www.loudersound.com/features/total-mass-retain-how-yes-made-close-to-the-edge This is often considered to be the best prog rock album of all time.
  8. Wow. Heavy but no energy. Little did they know Judas Priest was just around the corner.
  9. I'm really surprised so few people posted on here which means not many people on here know who he was (I'm not sure it would make much difference if Alan White of Yes was posted in the headline). Anyway, I hope more people who see this can figure out that he was the drummer for Yes. Anyway, a lot of people feel Bruford was the best drummer for Yes and I agree he was the better drummer but I think Alan fit in better with the band. Anyway, one final RIP.
  10. HYF was the first Rush concert I saw but it was so long ago I forgot what they opened with. I know it wasn't SoR. Big Money sounds about right. Thanks.
  11. I forgot about looking at setlistfm. This is usually my goto place for all things Rush so I figured someone on here would know. Anyway, thanks for the responses!
  12. Terrible news. Yes is probably my all time favorite band (Rush is a close second) so this hit hard. I actually even met him once (when he toured with Circa with Billy Sherwood and Tony Kaye) and he was very friendly and down to earth and even asked my name and shook my hand. RIP Alan.
  13. I recently bought the live Grace Under Pressure tour album (cd) and noticed the show opens with Spirit Of Radio. The guy I went to see Rush with in 1987 (for HYF) said he would bet us (me and the other guy) 100 dollars (or whatever) that they would open with Spirit of Radio but they didn't. So I'm just curious about Power Windows. I don 't know if this guy saw the PoW tour or not.
  14. I'm not sure why but my dad mentioned this to me over the phone today. He's someone from "his" generation I suppose. Plus he's from Philadelphia like my dad is.
  15. I noticed that Marillion are on the cover of the latest PROG magazine.
  16. Hey, I'm just glad to see Yes get discussed this much on this forum. I think more Rush fans who are really into AFTK up to MP would like them as long as they don't expect them to be as heavy.
