  2. I've always enjoyed Freeze. It has a lot of energy and I think it's one of the best off the album.
  3. You put non-classics Clockwork Angels and Power Windows over a classic Hemispheres? Can you explain me why? He hasn't had his moment with Hemispheres yet...when that one hits it hits HARD! Saying that I am finding Clockwork Angels more and more of a masterpiece as time goes on! Played it twice yesterday and it astonished me, whereas before it sounded really middle of the road. To be honest the only album in his top seven (it's a foolish way to rate albums when it is obvious his top five doesmt feature the last two) that I would hesitate to out in is Signals. Saying that I would have Roll The Bones and Vapor Trails... To each their own! La Villa is a masterpiece and Cygnus is a powerhouse that takes multiple listens to appreciate, in my opinion. So yes, it hits hard. Clockwork Angels is my second favorite because there so many tracks that are just phenomenal. I believe Neil said that it turned out to be the album he had always wanted to create or something like that.
  4. 1. Permanent Waves 2. Clockwork Angels 3. Moving Pictures 4. Hemispheres 5. Maybe 2112 or Signals, perhaps Power Windows, who knows
  5. Since I am but a youngster and I was introduced to Rush songs in an incredibly bizarre order, I believe the first song I heard from Presto was The Pass. I wasn't hooked right away (although I knew about three Rush songs by this time and probably couldn't even remember the names of all three at any given time back then), but I eventually caught on and it is now consistently in my top 15 or 20. I think Presto has its moments, and it has its moments where its not memorable to say the least, but if you listen for pleasure and not too terribly cynically then I think it's easy to find a lot of enjoyment throughout the album.
  6. R30 Medley (R30) Working Man (Time Machine)
  7. YYNOT Gotta check out their debut album
  8. I think 99% of bands in the world across the vast majority of genres would be beyond thrilled to be "stuck with Neil." Yet, we are talking about the best of the best, which is much less than 1% of the bands in the world. I think Neil would have had a competitive bid for becoming Led Zeppelin's drummer if that hypothetical situation ever occurred Not a chance. Peart could never ever ever in a million years Groove the way John Bonham can. He doesn't even hold a candle to Phil Rudd in terms of actual Groove. Oh come on, just think how "When the Levee Breaks" would sound like with cleverly orchestrated tom-tom fills. Maybe even some ethnic percussion samples! :o Just take a look at some of the jazz ensembles Neil played in. If that's not groove, I don't know what is.

  10. I've always been a big fan of Ghost Rider. Also, to the degree that it can be called underrated, Vital Signs comes to mind just because of the songs that precede it on the album and I think it has a really good groove.

  12. Agreed. This band and YYNot have very promising careers ahead of them! My two top non-Rush bands at the moment!
  13. Greta van Fleet Led Zeppelin-esque? Undeniably. Too Led Zeppelin-esque? To each his own, but not to me. Besides, getting this kind of music out of guys this young these days is hard to come by and quite frankly very refreshing.

  16. This is only in the humble opinion of a 17 year old surrounded by machinery making modern music rather than musicians, so usually I'll take what I can get regardless of genuine quality as long as its actual musicians doing the playing. However, these two bands I think are really going places. YYNOT They started as a Rush tribute band and evolved to write their own originals, and just released their debut album. There's a lot of solid material on there and while you can hear the Rush influence they definitely have their own sound. My personal favorites include "Kingdom Come," "Hourglass," "Etheria," and "The Curtain Falls." My lone criticism would be that some parts of the originals sometimes sound scattered, or "loose" as opposed to sounding "tight." However, all of their songs are still extremely enjoyable and I go back to all of them frequently. I can only imagine that they will continue to grow to become an even more cohesive unit to produce an even tighter sound. Greta van Fleet A bunch of young guys out of a small town in Michigan, they've received a decent amount of press and have really grown in popularity. Their debut album From the Fires is quite good, but it is extremely similar to Led Zeppelin to the point where its tough to distinguish between Led Zeppelin and Greta van Fleet for new listeners. Still, very tight songs and a good sound. Their latest single, "When the Curtain Falls," shows a bit more originality but still heavy Led Zeppelin roots. I hope to see these guys turn into something really great and original in the future, since they have plenty of time to grow. Perhaps I'm too young to truly understand what good music is but if I'm spending time on a Rush forum I can't be too far off can I?
  17. CA is usually in my top 5, partly because it was the only album released after I became a fan. Unfortunately I'm young
  18. Available Light is one of the best lyrical/vocal songs in Rush's catalog.
  19. I started by listening to the song that Geddy plays bass on: Territory. My favorite one of theirs. However, I enjoy a lot of their other material, although its vastly different than Rush and even classic rock. I think it would be considered indie rock. They are one of my favorite modern bands.
  20. Red Sector A The case had been tried By the jury inside The choice between darkness And light
  21. Bastille Day (atwas) Jacob's Ladder (R40)
  22. Would it too many on one album to add me as an ambassador to CA? Unfortunately it was the only album released when I was a fan, but I was still too young to understand what a new release meant. Still, it's the one perhaps most personal to me.
