  1. UFO - top band, even without the Rush connection & slipper nailing antics!! Especially like This Kids, Love to Love & their cover of Mystery Train

    How It Is

Yep - love it. One of the most heartfelt songs I've ever heard (not just from Rush) & always holds an additional poignancy because of a friend who took their own life. My favourite track off VT is still Secret Touch though - just can't get enough of the musical bridge with Alex sawing on guitar & Geddy kicking in with the bass then the vocal overlay. The remix ruined that part by bringing in the vocals too early ( IMHO :) ) - & another reason I'm gutted that they didn't bring R40 to Europe
  3. 1978 - Big boys at school got me into 2112, bought the LP then saw Tour of the Hemispheres at Hammy Odeon a year later. It's been all downhill since then
  4. Rush & The Mountain Goats is virtually all I listen to, just never get bored of either. Sometimes add a bit of Steve Earle or Green Day. I tell myself that with 50 or so albums, I'm actually getting quite a lot of variety

Welcome to the forum Mitten ! thanks Lucas. Long time Rushaholic from the UK. Don't post much on the interweb but like to keep up with all things Rush-related :)

That's a fantastic vid, only had time to listen to a few minutes of it but the sound is great, even on my crappy laptop. Looking forward to watching the whole thing. You just can't beat the energy coming off the band - awesome, cheers
  7. I wouldn't worry too much about wearing out. I've listened to all my orginal discs again as the new LPs have arrived - they pop & crackle a bit on the quiet parts but the sound is still great. I'm not saying vinyl is the B All & end all - I listen to digital as much if not more - but if you want to get a turntable it's well worth the effort. There's nothing like the feeling of slipping 2112 out of its sleeve, dropping the needle, laying back & reading the gatefold cover to cover as the music washes over you ....... mmmmmmmmmm Price wise I have no Idea what you'd pay where you are ( thinking N.America ? ) but you should get a half decent turntable for max UKĀ£200 - say $300 maybe less. Most new'ish decks will pair up to an Amp with the right cable.
  8. Vinyl just sounds "warmer" & more rounded, something to do with analogue I guess. it's the best way to listen to music IMHO - but not the easiest; you have to keep getting up to flip the record !! It also makes you to listen to a whole side ( which can be good and bad) 'cos you can't just skip a track. You can easily play an iPod though the amp to give the best of all possible worlds but for the full Rush experience it's got to be vinyl all the way
  9. Mmm, I'm confused as well - ( live in UK by the way) ...have got Signals & ESL from Amazon but the rest of the Mercurys have now dropped back in the year & the release order has gone haywire with PW & HYF jumping the queue over P/G which has dropped back to December !!??. Backstage club & Amz are equally out of sync. Pressing issues maybe ? The Atlantic releases seem to be equally random & no sign of them on Amz UK yet but luckily I have a mate in the US who can take delivery & forward on . Already salivating over a vinyl copy of T4E
