  1. I'd love for it to stick around for longer, but if I am remembering correctly, even the "permanent" band channels come and go.
  2. If I'm remembering correctly I've been to 7 shows. R40 Time Machine Snakes and Arrows R30 Vapor Trails Counterparts Roll The Bones Maybe I'm missing one...
  3. It won't be right away obviously, but I would not be surprised to eventually see Geddy and Alex resurface in some form or another.
  4. Learning that we’re only immortal for a limited time
  5. One of my favorites... and appropriate right now: "Learning that we're only immortal for a limited time"
  6. RIP. Another rock and roll legend from our youth gone...
  7. Perhaps, but what would have been much more reprehensible would have been to march another half a million American men to their death in a ground invasion.
  8. I would imagine his thought process went something like this: If I don't do anything the total loss is unknown but likely half a million If we invade at least a half million die If I drop the bomb a hundred thousand or so die per bomb and it is likely they will surrender (unimaginable that they didn't immediately surrender after the first one). Hmm.. if I drop the bomb a couple of hundred thousand is better than a half a million. Better that they die than our guys. Drop it.
  9. Moving Pictures Roll The Bones Signals 2112 Presto I did this pretty recently so it is prob pretty similar.
  10. Limelight… because I felt I missed that song more than any other omission.
  11. No restrictions. Just what are your personal 10 best Rush songs? Hard list to make, but here is my stab at it: 1- Limelight 2- The Spirit Of Radio 3- Dreamline 4- Subdivisions 5- 2112 6- Tom Sawyer 7- Bravado 8- Red Sector A 9- La Villa 10- The Pass Honorable Mentions: Roll The Bones, Test For Echo, Mission and YYZ
  12. I think a combo of these is the type of thing that we might see. A couple of years off and then shorter tours 15ish shows, but not every other night. I'd guess more along the Billy Joel model playing every so often at "special" places like Wrigley Field, Fenway Park, Madison Square Garden etc.
  13. OK, I'll take a stab at it... 1. Moving Pictures: To me this is their defining album. 2. Roll The Bones: Absolutely some of their best stuff is on this album. Dreamline, Bravado and Roll the Bones might be 3 of my top 10 rush songs of all time. 3. Signals: Subdivisions, Analog Kid, Digital Man… Awesome 4. 2112: Just love the title track of this one to rank it any lower. 5. Pesto: I may have ranked this somewhat unpopular album higher than anyone, but a lot of songs I like on here. The Pass is a favorite of mine. 6. Permanent Waves: Just the fact that The Spirit of Radio is on here, makes it hard not to rank it even higher than this. 7. Hemishpheres: Pretty hard to decide where to rank it among other great albums. 8. Power Windows: Big Money, Manhattan Project, Marathon… all great among other decent stuff. 9. Grace Under Pressure: Red Sector A is the best of this one for me. 10. A Farewell To Kings: Again, hard to decide among many great albums. 11. Counterparts: Love Animate, really enjoy Nobodys Hero, Everyday Glory and others. 12. Hold Your Fire: Love Time Stand Still and Mission. 13. Vapor Trails: Loved Earthshine, didn't connect with some other stuff. 14. Test For Echo: Some great stuff, some just OK. 15. Clockwork Angels: I just haven't connected with this album yet…. maybe over time it moves up. The Wreckers is my favorite song on the album. 16. Fly By Night: Showing that I'm just not as into their earliest stuff 17. Rush: See Fly By Night 18. Caress of Steel: Its got Lakeside Park and Bastille Day… other than that not much on this one for me. 19. Snakes N Arrows: Far Cry is OK, other than that just very "Meh" all around. I didn't rank Feedback… would have no idea where to put it. I really enjoy it and thought it was a really nice "outside of the box" project, but it isn't really Rush. For me I found it pretty easy to figure out where to put the top few and the bottom few…. really hard to rank the albums in that 5 to 14 range… they are all so good.
  14. I'd actually suggest something like Chronicals… or their live album Different Stages. They will give you a mix from some different eras then you can go from there.
  15. My kids are 9 and 6... Both already like Rush (as well as a lot of my other favorite music). I feel bad thT they will likely never get to see them live.
  16. I think I must be more of the "smile because it happened" type when it comes to shows. Enjoyed the concert... Was it the last time I see them? I guess only time will tell.

    RUSH in Rio

Apart from the inexplicable omission of Subdivisions, that is the Best. Setlist. Ever.
  18. Most people were sitting down for long stretches of time at the Boston show too. This is mostly the bands fault for picking several songs to play that the majority of average fans have either never heard before or don't care about hearing. Leaving out fan favorites (and also great concert songs) like Limelight, Freewill, Deeamline, etc dosent help either. People stood up during Roll The Bones, Tom Sawyer, 2112, Spirit of Radio etc Other songs like Jacobs Ladder are not exactly stand up and dance type of songs (even though I love Jacobs ladder and I was psyched to hear it live. Regarding the age of the fans .... Rush was biggest when people who are now in their 40's were your age.... So that is the predominant age group at the shows.
  19. YES. Exactly. Part of the reason I love Clockwork Angels so much is that it proves the band is not resting on its laurels. Why do half of their fans want them to? I'd guess it is more like 75% of their fans.... And it is Because (for the majority of fans) CA and SnA isn't nearly as good as their classic stuff.
  20. They chose the songs they liked, and if people who have come to Clockworks Angels/Snakes and Arrows tours don't know those songs then they were asleep, they have been played a lot. I thought they were great! :finbar: I personally know the songs and they are fine (although I can't say I connected with the last two albums). Based on what I saw at the Boston show, I'd say that 75% of the peopl there either did not know or did not care about hearing the CA and SnA songs..: looking around the vast majority were sitting on their hands, basically waiting for the later songs to come on... Once they did, a lot more people were up out of their chairs cheering/dancing etc.. A couple of those easily could have been eliminated and replaced with a couple more "classics" that the majority of fans would have loved hearing.
  21. I'd actually say that the Rush In Rio DVD would be a great first intro.
  22. Limelight and Freewill. Don't know how you leave those songs out of the last tour ever in favor of multiple songs from Clockwork Angles and Snakes N Arrows that 75% of the crowd has never heard before.
