  1. Saw Da Vinci code today. It was just like the book except for just a few modifications. Of course they left out a lot of stuff. Still, it was 2 1/2 hours. I liked it. It wasn't great, but a very good movie. Regardless of how you feel about the history and/or religious overtones of the story, if you just try and enjoy it as a fun fictional story it was very fun to watch.
  2. I just finished the book, so I'm going to see Da Vinci code tomorrow.
  3. QUOTE (tangdog @ May 16 2006, 05:41 PM) QUOTE (Midway Hawker @ May 16 2006, 06:51 PM) I went to Eric Johnson/Joe Satriani on Friday night in Reno. The Reno Hilton theater was NOT a great place to see a show. All booths and tables unless you got a "pit" ticket where they had regular chairs. We were in a booth. The sound was REALLY BAD! Eric Johnson was really bad. When I saw him back in '91 or '92, he was awesome! This show he didn't even play much of his own material. It just didn't sound good. And the songs he did play he improvised so much that they were almost not recognizable. Joe Satriani was pretty good. He's incredible with the sounds he can produce, but over-all his show was just ok. I enjoyed his old stuff better. 5 songs off of Surfing with the Alien.. Saturday night I saw Richard Jeni in the same theater.. He is F***ing HI-Larious! That was a great show. Also, I think I set my own personal record on Saturday for number of drinks consumed without getting sick. Thats suprising the EJ played poorly but I have read the same elsewhere. Some are blaming it on equipment?? I don't know but all the times I have seen EJ were unbelievable. I will also say his new disc Bloom is good, but not up to Ah via musicom standards. Yeah, when I saw him on Ah Via Musicom tour (twice) he played perfectly, hitting nearly every note flawlessly. This show he was sloppy, more freelancing.. I prefer for a musician to play it the way we know it. I don't mind improvising now and then, but this was really bad. He did play a Hendricks song which was Ok, and he closed with Cliffs of Dover, my favorite from him.. Just wasn't very good, I was disappointed. On a lighter note, he's about the best looking 50 year old dude I've ever seen!

  5. Wow! I saw Yngwie 18 years ago.. Glad to see he's still going strong. Tomorrow night it's Satriani and Eric Johnson for me.. Getting my guitar fix on.
  6. QUOTE (YYXanadu @ May 9 2006, 01:11 PM) What about the whole "Moving Pictures" thing? It had guys moving the pictures, the pictures were moving, and the people were "moved" by the pictures. Is it me, or do I not understand this thread? Not a lyric, but a nice observation none-the-less!
  7. Every time I see this thread, I think of that part in Meaning of Life where the Fish are all saying "Morning" to each other... That's high quality entertainment right there...
  8. It's easier is drink at home. It's Cinco De Mayo (something about sinking a boat with a bunch of Mayonesse on it.... ) so I don't want to go out. Bunch of crazies out there.
  9. This show is awesome.. If you're not watching you should be... This past week was the best episode yet.. The Sapranos is starting to bore me.. Big Love is the next "big" thing..
  10. Looks like I'm going to Joe Satriani and Eric Johnson on May 12 in Reno. I've never seen Joe and it's been 14 years since I've seen Eric. Should be a good time.
  11. Lord of the Rings - Extended addition.. The whole thing. It's really one movie anyway. And yes, I've watched the whole thing in one day. All 12 hours of it.
  12. It's looking like I'm going to Joe Satriani and Eric Johnson on May 12th in Reno, NV.. I'm very excited...! I've never seen Joe and I haven't seen Eric in 16 years!

  14. Easter here again, a time for the blind to see Easter, surely now... Let all of our hearts be free..
  15. QUOTE (GhostGirl @ Apr 11 2006, 02:27 PM) I've watched a couple of eps. It's different, you're right. I haven't decided if I like it, really. I did laugh out loud at one of the scenes..."It's MY night! I switched with Margie. Didn't you get my Post-It?" yeah, that was funny.. This show is living proof that 1 wife is more than enough for any man! (no offense ladies)
  16. Anybody been watching this? It comes on right after the Sapranos on Sunday nights. I find it quite entertaining. If you haven't heard about it, it's about a Poligimist family in Utah living in modern times. It stars Bill Paxon. He has 3 wives, owns 3 houses right next to each other. It's a bit different, but I'm hooked.
  17. Just listened to Kid Gloves a bit ago, and remembered another contrast: Then you learn the lesson That it's cool to be so tough Then you learn the lesson That it's tough to be so cool
  18. Morning All, Record rainfall here in California. Flash Flooding, Levees giving way, mud slides, avalanches, road closures, depression from lack of sunshine, and there's no end to the rain in site.. I think I'll take a shower!
  19. blaH BLAH BLAH, it will be morning when I SAY IT'S MORNING!!!!!!! Some of us haven't gone to bed yet!
  20. Of course this is difficult, there are so many movies that I love that won't make the top 5, but here goes nothing: 1. Lord of the Rings 2. American Beauty 3. Young Frankenstein (The most brilliant comedy ever made IMO) 4. The Shawshank Redemption 5. The Princess Bride There are too many for honorable mention, so I just won't mention any of them.
