  1. QUOTE (liquidcrystalcompass @ Feb 15 2007, 04:55 PM) "So I've got that going for me....... which is nice." Caddyshack - Bill Murray I hear people say that all the time... I forgot it was from Caddyshack!!!
  2. "And now for something completely different..." Bob: "Hi. I'm Bob and this is my place.." Jake: "Well it's a beautiful place, Bob.." "knight jumps Queen, bishop jumps Queen.. Gang Bang!!!!" "Igor, help me with the bags... .. You take the blond and I'll take the one in the turban..."
  3. I watched Boston Legal for the first time last night. I had heard it was great and funny as sh*t.. And I was not disappointed.. Absolute great show! Great writing, great one liners, incredibly funny! If you missed it, here's a teaser... James Spader (dressed as Candace Bergin) dancing with William Shatner while drinking scotch and smoking cigars!
  4. Yep, Fish's first solo album was pretty good, but it's the only one I enjoyed. Kudzu, I'm glad you are enjoying your Marillion journey. I also really love Anaraknaphobia (or however you spell it).. That album really grows on you and gets better and better over time. New album out in April!!!!
  5. Hey, this is a TV show thread! If you want to drool, take it to NWW...! Back on Topic: Wow, I watched House for the first time last night and it was pretty cool.. I just love the way he.. limps around ... and stuff...
  6. "Mr. President, a nuclear bomb has gone off.. BRAVADO would not be any better than fear at this point.." Gawd I love this show...
  7. I've had this movie for a long time and never watched it. My background is in Mathematics so maybe I'll enjoy it.. Thanks for the "review"..
  8. All I can say is WOW, and now in reverse ... WOW.. I can't wait until tomorrow night.
  9. The only thing I know about Grendel is that Fish wrote a song about the story for Marillion in the early 80's.. (It's simply called "Grendel") The song is a 17 minute prog-rock masterpiece.. IMO The song was actually recorded before they released their first album in 1983. So it was difficult to find for a long time (unless you live in Europe/UK). They released it on their 1988 release "Besides Themselves" and it now also is included in their remastered 2 disc release of their first album "Script for a Jester's Tear". If you like the story and you like progressive rock, you'll love this song. I. Heorot's plea and Grendel's awakening Midnight suns bid moors farewell, retreats from charging dusk Mountain echo, curfews bell, signal ending tasks They place their faith in oaken doors, cower in candlelight The panic seeps through bloodstained floors as Grendel stalks the night Earth rim walker seeks his meals Prepare the funeral pyres The shaper's songs no longer heal the fear Within their eyes, their eyes Wooden figures, pagan gods, stare blindly cross the sea Appeal for help from ocean fogs, for savior born of dreams They know their lives are forfeit now, priestly head they bow in shame They cannot face the trembling crowd that flinch in Grendel's name Earth rim walker seeks his meals Prepare the funeral pyres The shaper's songs no longer heal the fear Within their eyes, their eyes As Grendel leaves his mossy home beneath the stagnant mere Along the forest path he roams to Hrothgar's hall so clear He knows that victory is secured, his charm will testify His claws will drip with mortal blood as moonbeams haunt the sky Earth rim walker seeks his meals Prepare the funeral pyres The shaper's songs no longer heal the fear Within their eyes, their eyes II. Grendel's Journey Silken membranes span his path, fingerprints in dew Denizens of twilight lands humbly beg him through Mother nature's bastard child shunned by leaf and stream An alien in an alien land seeks solace within dreams The shaper's lies his poisoned tongue malign with mocking harp Beguiling queen her innocence offends his icy heart III. Lurker at the Threshold Hounds freeze in silence bewitched by the reptile spell Sulphurous essence pervades round the grassy dell Heorot awaits him like lamb to the butcher's knife Stellular heavens ignore even children's cries Screams are his music, lightning his guide Raping the darkness, death by his side Chants rise in terror, free round the oaken beams Flickering firelight portraying the grisly scene Warriors advance, prepare for the nightmare foe Futile their sacrifice as even their hearts must know Heroes delusion, with feet in the grave Lurker at the threshold, he cares not for the brave, he cares not for the brave So you thought that your bolts and your locks would keep me out You should have known better after all this time You're gonna pay in blood for all your vicious slander With your ugly pale skins and your putrid blue eyes Why should I feel pity when you kill your own and feel no shame God's on my side, sure as hell, I'm gonna take no blame I'm gonna take no blame, I'm gonna take no blame So you say you believe in all of Mother Nature's laws You lust for gold with your sharpened knives Oh when your hoards are gathered and your enemies left to rot You pray with your bloodstained hands at the feet of your pagan gods Then you try to place the killer's blade in my hand You call for justice and distort the truth Well I've had enough of all your pretty pretty speeches Receive your punishment, Expose your throats to my righteous claws And let the blood flow, and let the blood flow, flow, flow, flow
  10. I actually watched this for the first time a few nights ago... Yes, it's very dated. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I saw it when it first came out. Over all, it was pretty lame.. Just a couple of really funny parts... I like the scene in the car at the beginning when he puts in "Bohemian Rhapsody".. and the monkeys flying out of my ass ... Other than that it was lame.
  11. QUOTE (Kudzu @ Jan 8 2007, 01:54 AM) I'm trying to decide if I feel like paying the extra $10, plus God knows how much else for shipping and handling fees, to order the 2-CD version of Marbles from the band website when I get to that album. I can get a retail version for around $13 total, but the full 2-CD version is $21 before shipping (damn British pounds). Afraid of Sunlight, Radiation, marillion.com, Anoraknophobia, Marbles, and the band Arena's The Visitor are currently at the top of my to-buy list for music. I wonder how I'll feed myself. I believe if you buy any of their older albums from the band's website, you'll get a 2 CD remastered addition where the 2nd CD is full of extras. They run about 10 pounds each, I think that is like $16-18.. Order multiple items and save on shipping!! I actually found the 2cd remastered addition of Holidays in Eden at a used record store... Picked it up for $8. The only other remastered version I have is Clutching at Straws, which is really interesting because the extra CD has 5 or 6 demos of songs where Fish is singing different lyrics to the music that ended up on Season's End.. Very cool..
  12. QUOTE (madra sneachta @ Jan 6 2007, 04:41 PM) I agree 100% with Ricky - Forgotten Sons is a monumental song, and because of it, I came close to giving the nod to "Script...", but as an album, Fugazi shades it for me. We've had this conversation before, but I remain a dyed in the wool fan of the Fish era (sorry Tick), as much for the lyrics as the music. "Son watches father scan obituary columns, in search of absent school friends". Brilliant. Fish is probably the great lyricist of all time. Just listen and read along with their first two albums, Script for a Jester's Tear and Fugazi... Probably the most complex, intense lyrics ever penned. I act the role in classic style of a martyr carved with twisted smile To bleed the lyric for this song to write the rites to right my wrongs
  13. I'm watching this right now.. The take on the Basketball commercial had me on the floor!!!
  14. OMG, now I think I have to go watch this...!!!
  15. This is sort of like pick your fav Rush album, they are all great.. Maybe except Radiation and .com I voted for Clutching at Straws. It was the first Marillion album I ever heard and it's still my favorite. Put this album on, lower the lights (or turn them off).. Play it loud in headphones. Close your eyes and just listen.. The album has one theme from beginning to end and is very powerful. The guitar solo in Sugar Mice toward the end will move you to tears...
  16. One of his best performances was from: "The X Files" Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose (1995) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0751092/
  17. http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005PJ6Z.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg (1957) Mainly because of the performance of Charles Laughton. He is absolutely awesome. Funny as hell, yet it's a serious movie with a serious plot. Just a personal classic favorite of mine. http://www.movieactors.com/freeseframes-1026/WitnessForProsecut38.jpeg
  18. Ditto Shashank Redemption.. I've watched it one time. When the movie ended, I sat in utter amazement staring at the rolling credits... All I could think of was "that was the best movie I've ever seen".. I have never watched it again. I think the reason why is that I just can't imagine it ever effecting me that way again and I'm afraid I'll be disappointed.. It's the only movie that's ever effected me in this way.. I'm sure I'll watch it again some day, but probably not for awhile. Ditto Tombstone.. For all the reasons Jack mentioned, and I DON'T generally like Westerns.. It's just a great movie. I can watch this one over and over..
  19. East coast bastards! You get to see everything 3 hours before us...
  20. 3 f'd up movies, that's for sure... I've been meaning to watch Donnie Darko again..
  21. The most famous person I've ever met is... RushRevisted..
  22. QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Nov 14 2006, 12:03 AM)QUOTE (Midway Hawker @ Nov 14 2006, 02:58 AM) "how could I leave this.. behind.." The lyrics to "Big Bottom" are genius. And the fact that all three guys are playing bass guitars on that song is perfect. My baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo.. I'd like to sink her with my pink torpedo.. Big Bottom. Big Bottom.. Talk about mud flaps, my girl's got 'em...
