  1. Game already has an obvious winner! Extra points for being yourself next to Taylor !
  2. My dad and I saw Stargell hit a home run into the right field upper deck of Three Rivers Stadium once; It was a great night! No wonder the Pirates were often losing money, with these ticket prices! (Just kidding, like most teams, it's the TV revenue, or lack of . . .). I kept this for some reason.
  3. Willie Stargell was one of a kind, just awesome. I have his autograph somewhere, from when I was too young to realize how cool he was (and we thought autograph day was something that would go on forever.) Kent Tekulve was really special, also. We kept cable way longer than we should have because he was the color guy for most of the Pirate games for years, and he was so great to listen to. He finally retired and we could switch to streaming
  4. It was good! It's about 4 studio musicians in the 70's that were on all the James Taylor records, also records of Carole King, Don Henley, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, David Crosby and Neil Young (and more).
  5. That is a great photo of Johnny Bench! Ours was this one, I think everyone in Pittsburgh still has it. Sad to hear this news. I always liked the amateur sports highlights near the back; high school kids and such. It was a cool thing.
  6. Happy Birthday, laughedatbytime! Hope you are staying warm, and cheers to your birthday!!
  7. Well, that was a letdown. BOTH Pa teams stunk today!
  8. Money talks, BS walks as they say! I am not familiar with a lot of Swift's work except the early stuff, but she works incredibly hard. Somehow she has figured out how to sell tons of music and shows in a times when most music sales are slow, it's admirable. Ted's gonna Ted, but it's kind of old these days. Although when I worked at a library his "Kill It and Grill It" cookbook was very popular
  9. Steelers pulled that out! Thank you, Titans! Jags have some thinking to do with getting Trevor Lawrence up to the next level. Next weekend will be interesting, I think I saw vs the Bills. I always cheer for the Steelers but all of my high school friends saying " Here comes Ring 7" seems a bit optimistic at this point! But who knows, stranger things have happened!
  10. I worked at our public library for a long time, and there was an older patron that liked to take out Dean Koontz books. He finally told me, "I like to read them, Mr. Koontz was my English teacher in high school!" It's true, when Koontz first graduated college, he taught in a town near us for a while. I don't think he's been back lately though!
  11. Ugh, that was an ugly Eagles game! Between their loss and the passing of NASCAR driver Cale Yarborough, husband is gloomy. Sounds like we better break out something fizzy tonight
  12. Thank you Sun! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and everyone on TRF also!
  13. One day I feel Im ahead of the wheel, and the next it's rolling over me . . . . . Lol. Pre holiday busyness.
  14. Kind of afraid to look it up, but we did have one Christmas where my family had the sewer back up in two different houses! Plumber said the older folks don't have as much water blasting out the pipes and they don't notice when tree roots grow. I think he was trying to make us feel better!
  15. Not sure? I'll have to have my husband look on Ancestry, he likes that kind of research!
  16. Jim Ladd, a great LA DJ from the 60s and 70s on KMET and KLOS, has passed away suddenly from a heart attack. He was famous for doing "freeform" format, where he would play whatever struck him, as long as it was good. Neil wrote about their friendship in "Traveling Music", and Ladd was one of the few media people that Neil trusted. Neil did at least three interviews with him over the years. RIP, Jim. I enjoyed you on Sirius Deep Tracks. (Links to obit and interviews with Neil, although they say Rush. Ladd also finally learned how to pronounce Peart; they really were friends but apparently he didn't know that in the beginning, Neil was too nice to correct him.) https://deadline.com/2023/12/jim-ladd-dead-dj-1235671961/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODctr6co3gY Part 1, 1980 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODctr6co3gY&t=401s Part 2, 1980 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODctr6co3gY&t=678s. Part 3, 1980 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODctr6co3gY&t=986s. Part 4, 1980 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGu_TMx4VKM. 1981 (This is part 1 out of 4, getting too long to list, part 1 will take you to the rest) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oob2Py923Q 2-3-15.
  17. It got a really good review today in Variety, I think it was. They thought Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White were great. Sad story but I bet this would be pretty interesting.
  18. Shoot, I didn't even think of that, I was just thinking it would automatically be for the public. You are right, maybe its more of an auction guide or something ?? He's always busy for sure!
  19. I know, right? I am in another Rush group on Facebook and someone felt that many items were sold for "under value" in the auction. They must not have been THAT undervalued
  20. For anyone who is interested- Geddy did alright! The total of the items he sold came to 6.5 million dollars. Lucky new owners! https://www.christies.com/en/auction/selections-from-the-geddy-lee-collection-and-important-baseball-memorabilia-29623/?fbclid=IwAR0C8D3gdWBtZav5QVeNdMLogg4tuLQhONd1IEnBHrWut6KF6JrqkMqjhQY A few of the items had this note attached- it looks like Geddy is working on a new book featuring his collectibles ?!?
  21. He's not bad! Thanks for posting- I needed a good laugh tonight!
  22. Boy, I am late here and I apologize! Happy, happy belated birthday Derek! I hope that it was wonderful for you! Hope the holiday season is going well for you!
