  1. Rumors by Fleetwood Mac is another great album with excellent sequencing for whatever reason; there's a whole book about the album in our public library but I've never gotten around to reading it.
  2. Oops, Ok, back on topic. Great question, EP! Born to Run is a really good one, as someone that grew up with vinyl "albums" ; I always appreciated when they were arranged so that you could listen straight through at least one side; not too many fast or slower songs in a row and not what seems to happen on a lot of rushed records, a bunch of lousy songs with one hit or whatever. The first one I can think of is "Who's Next", its a great album and that's part of it. Loved it when I was younger and later on read that this also was supposed to be a rock opera that just never came together, but it makes sense that the song order would be thought about a lot and sequenced well if that was the case.
  3. Well both the Caps and the Red Wings won last night, keeping the (undeserving) Pens out. They had a great run in the late season, though! Boo Caps, too bad the Red Wings didn't make the playoffs.
  4. Happy Birthday, Rush Didact! Best wishes to you in the Great White North! I hope that it's a great one for you- cheers!
  5. Happy, happy birthday Union 5-3992! I hope it was wonderful! I always enjoy your updates from WNY! Have a great one!
  6. Happy, happy birthday blackhawkrush! Best wishes to a great guy! I hope the Blackhawks get a win for you tonight! Cheers!
  7. RIP, Mr. MacNeil. There are few newscasters left where the personality doesn't mostly overwhelm the story.
  8. What a great, record breaking football player, what a garbage husband. Such a violent guy and we didn't know for a long time. My sister was a food server for a long time in a prestigious restaurant in Pittsburgh, a remodeled train station. Way in the corner of the huge room was a little table they called "the OJ" because you had to fly through the rest of the room, running like OJ, to get there and still have the food warm. (before 1994.) It unfolded so strangely. I remember my dad, who never watched anything but the food channel, calling me and going, "Are you watching the white Bronco? I can't turn it off!" And the trial was certainly proof of the fact that wealthy people who can pay for the best lawyers have an advantage. So sad for OJs kids to see violence against their mom, lose her, and then lose a (crappy) dad for a time also. Terrible for the Goldman family as well, whose son didn't do anything but try to be kind.
  9. There was a sign up on the Library of Congress Facebook or Instagram page? I forget exactly which one, but one of them put up a ticket request form about 8 weeks ago. I got an email back that I was on the cancellation list, but it didn't work out, unfortunately. Had a lot of fun watching it though!
  10. Featuring Geddy or Alex? Geddy would fit ok, Alex . . . probably not although he is looking thinner these days! Neil's drum kit, no way!
  11. Thanks! Well, it was supposed to be for some big government guy . My son works for the government (not an elected guy) but he did get the chance to sign up to be a seat filler and his name got drawn, the guy couldn't make it. Can't have any empty seats when you're filming, lol !
  12. Me too! I signed up to be on the ticket cancelation list but of course nobody cancelled.
  13. Here are 2 photos my son took- he was picked as a seat filler for the concert. This one is of the entrance, everyone's road cases, and the Washington monument in the background. The second one is his view in the concert!
  14. Yes! My son was there as a seat filler (he lives in DC and some Senator didn't show up) and was in the fifth row. He was blown away by Metallica! I enjoyed the whole thing but they were the most awesome. It was fun when they showed audience shots of James Hetfield through the show and he was having so much fun singing along to Elton!
  15. I hope that everyone who wants to see totality has good weather! We decided to stay home because 9 hours in the car on the backroads of PA is a bit much for a Monday, but my daughter is going to Erie! (If she can get there, they are expecting a ton of people also!). Our other daughter is in Rochester NY for a long weekend, I hope it's not too cloudy there! We will have about 93 percent coverage here in south central PA so it will be interesting to see that, anyway!
  16. Update- Math rules, I did not match even one number! My mom had me balance her checkbook yesterday and it came out to 77.77 balance so I thought I was on a good streak!
  17. My plans for world domination are ruined for the evening! Powerball drawing postponed because of the number of tickets sold! My billion dollar return on 4 bucks will have to wait! Don't usually indulge but I was in the mini mart anyway and chose to ignore the math.
  18. That Alaskan one was a bad one, I was very young and remember my parents trying g to contact friends there. Glad you and your mom rode them both out ok.
  19. My daughter said she felt it (here in central PA) but I didn't notice anything. We had a small one here about 10 years ago, the earth science guy at my husband's school had a seismograph from somewhere and it was cool to see him post the photo of it. So I ask my husband today- did the seismograph show anything? He goes, "I don't know, I think Mark stuck it in a closet somewhere??" Science! Glad everyone is ok! (A part of me was glad it didn't happen on Monday during the eclipse??!! Like witches at black masses! )
  20. Buffalo Springfield was supposed to be that way live. I've read music histories and histories of LA where people say they were just transcendent live and I can believe it from the talent in the band. I really like their recordings but from what I've read, the records don't touch the magic they had when performing concerts in their 18 months or whatever short time it was. Deep Purple Mark II, the classic lineup on Machine Head and especially on Made In Japan gives me that feeling. Rolling Stones on the Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers recordings with Mick Taylor (or maybe I just love how Keef and Charlie Watts sound on these) ZZ Top had a huge sound where they sounded awesome together for just three guys that started out with kind of garage band skills and grew. I had thought of a few more but can't remember, will repost if I do. Plus, tough question, we are talking about the transcendent sound of the bands but do we consider the music producers or not, or is the experience mostly our impressions from live shows?? Lol, life is confusing.
  21. The same guy has cut my hair for almost 30 years. He had a similar comment one time- "You've stuck around longer than my wives!" Luckily the current marriage seems to be a success.
