  1. Well, as some of know I was one of the lucky people to win entry to the Sirius town hall meeting November 13, 2015 after R40 was over. I was also lucky enough to sit in the front row with Alex a mere 5 feet away and Geddy right next to him. (and Michael Moore next to Geddy but who cares.) As part of winning I got to ask them one of the questions that I had submitted in the contest. There is audio, no video unfortunately. When it was my turn to ask my question, Michael Moore introduced me to them and one of them, I forget which one, said hi Laura, which was a thrill in and of itself, LOL. And of course having them sitting so close right in front of me for the entire interview was out of this world. Anyway after the show we got to meet them and get a picture but it was all very fast. Geddy was kind of cool, but Alex was very warm and friendly. After the picture I remember shaking Alex's hand a second time and saying thank you. And that was it, the whole meet and greet photo was a minute, maybe. But of course never to be forgotten. I don't know how to post just my little part, but here's the link to a YouTube someone else posted, if anyone is so inclined to walk down memory lane and hear it again. My question comes around 20:00 minutes in.
  2. They played not too far from me last weekend but sadly circumstances prevented me from going to see them. : (
  3. Styx in three weeks, with Felder and REO, but it's mostly about Styx for me. I'll be slumming it in the third row, way too far away from Tommy....
  4. Thank you, Laura! One of these times that Geddy is in NYC , I swear I'm going to get up there and see him and you both! :D I hope all is going well for you! Well I hope that it happens again, not only to see him but it would be great to meet you!! Sadly things are not going well for me at all, so I can only hope they get better. But I hope you have had a great birthday and a great year ahead!
  5. Gowan does indeed have four extra hands. Love the album, have loved Styx for more than 30 years.
  6. Oh that sucks. Getting overheated is my biggest fear at gigs. I don't cope well...annoyingly apparently, neither do I. I'd had more to eat and drink when I saw them in Philly and was ok there. But yes this will certainly give me pause the next time a GA show comes up.
  7. Blame Bruce for that. Maiden requests that the air conditioning to be turned off when they play indoors. Something about how the air can have a bad effect on vocal chords. Bruce is very particular about keeping his voice in good shape. Unfortunately this means their shows can get hotter than balls. Sucks you had to miss the show because of that. I guess the best advice I can give is to always make sure you get a bottle of water at the concessions before you go into the main show area. Yes, I had heard that. Plus the doctor at the hospital told me about 10 people had come in the night before for that very reason. The ironic thing is I bought a pretzel before Ghost started and was going to get water but they take the cap off the bottle and I didn't want to be standing around with the bottle of open water . And I actually had a cap in my bag that I bring with me but I wasn't sure if it was going to fit. So then I said can I get it in the cup with the lid and she said they don't use lids .... something about it can't be sealed which makes no sense to me but I guess that's some sort of security thing or something I don't know. It was cool being so close to Ghost though, they're totally out there and their masks kind of freaked me out but it was interesting .
  8. Omg! Well I ended up going and had ga up close, got totally dehydrated after ghost was over, made my way off the floor, passed out had to go to the hospital and missed the entire iron maiden show...
  9. I think I'm going to Iron Maiden tonight, I won tickets. can't find anyone to go with me but may just go alone anyway, since it's the last night of the tour.
  10. so anyone going to Brooklyn tomorrow night?? or would if they could?
  11. Telegraph Road is off of my favorite dire straits album, and probably one of my top 10 albums of everybody
  12. Not my choice. But more than worthy I totally cannot disagree with anyone ranking this number one. Mine is personally a split between New York City Serenade and Drive All Night. But Meeting Across The River and Jungleland are right up there! Huge Bruce fan. Jungleland is actually not one of my favorite songs of his but meeting across the river is .
  13. Yeah, not enough money to see everyone I want. I wanted to go to Graham Nash tomorrow night and also Kings X tomorrow night, but no dough!
  14. City Winery is a great venue, I wanted to go to that show...
  15. Just added Midnight Oil in Toronto, on Aug. 25. Another train trip from Windsor to YYZ... looking forward to another adventure to the east, eh... Rock ON!! Love Midnight Oil. Saw them do the show on the back of the flatbed in front of the Exxon building 30 yrs ago.
  16. The same friend who went to see Maiden went to the U2 show too. I'm more into intimate club/theater gigs these days. My last big show is probably going to be Roger Waters in a few months. I generally prefer smaller venues as well, but there's something to be said for a top band at a stadium sometimes.
  17. Going to U2 tomorrow night, 30 yrs later to see The Joshua Tree again!
  18. OK, I'm just beyond excited that all of you (well, maybe it's only 10 of you, but still) love this as much as I do, I thought I was the only Styx nerd here.... I agree with mostly everyone. Trouble with the Big Show is a typical JY song and probably my least favorite. I love Locomotive, Red Storm, Radio Silence and Gowan's piano on Khedive is brill.
  19. Carl (and his band) are awesome. Seen them about a dozen times Enjoy! Best set in years too. It was great. He's quite something, so it made me miss Neil LOL . But they did Fanfare and he did what must've been a 15 minute solo in the middle and it was just out of this world . Then Ken Dashow (one of the last cool rock DJs in nyc) interviewed the members of the band afterwards which was very cool . That's Carl. He's a never miss for me now (His band not Asia although I love Asia.) Saw some clips on you tube. It was awesome seeing Lisa Wetton play. That must have been very emotional to be there. She seemed like she was having a blast. Yes, it was really nice to see her play. The crowd was super supportive. I have some friends who are friends with a lot of Marillion fans that were there, and they know Lisa. it was cool. As for Carl, I wish I'd seen ELP, but at least I've seen him now!
