  1. He said amazing. compared to most other artists, FBN certainly has amazing sections. Anthem, BBB, By-Tor, and the title track all come quickly to mind. and CoS is amazing. No questions asked. Overrated. In fact. Its not. It sucks.
  2. Genesis - Trick of the Tail/ Wind and Wuthering Family - A Song for Me/ Anyway Gentle Giant - Three Friends/ Octopus VDGG - Still Life/World Record Grateful Dead - Workingmans/Amercian Beauty Zappa -Grand Wazoo/Waka Jawaka
  3. Thanks. This can help me at work. ;) BOTH of these replies SCARE me. I saw the mention of the Mexican version, but I didn't read it. I think I will now! And I hope your situation at work changes so you don't NEED to Digital Dad! Nah, I was joking. already Use the phrases Cabron and Change all the time. Its just part of how we get through the day (I work in a kitchen at a Country Club, cooks can be a brutal bunch if you don't know how to play the game and I am a master of it).
  4. s/t came out in 74... I believe he’s referring to the Can’t Fight it/NFA single, which was released on a 45 in 1973. I was talking about albums in the OP, so I'd say that doesn't count Title says record and is vague enough to mean album or 45 but you clarify later on. Of bands I like, admire and respect the only one I can think of at the moment is Genesis Live. I suppose it's vaguer than I could've made it, but mostly when I say record I do mean full length lp. And Genesis Live? I mean, it's no seconds out, and the sound quality isn't the absolute greatest, but I quite enjoy that record myself. s/t came out in 74... I'm glad that you enjoy it but it really doesn't do much for me. Seconds Out and Three (Four) Sides Live are my favorite commercially released Genesis live albums.. The Rainbow gig released in the Boxed set is better than G Live imo. And I love GLive. The Rainbow has an amazing Suppers Ready. Are you just not into that period of Genesis? My favorite era of Genesis does not involve Peter Gabriel. (His solo stuff is amazing, however.) Lol. You and Mick.
  5. Alex just had the misfortune of turning into a more textural player at a point in history where it became all about the shred.

  7. Oh yes my brother! You got it!!! The next time I see Dave, Jill, John and Mike I will tell them!!!! Ironically I saw TOTO on Friday night and passed on the free concert with Y&T on the Santa Cruz beach. TOTO started off slow but then kicked my ASS! It was my first time seeing TOTO! Rock N Roll Cherry Popped!!! ROCK ON! Actually I dont. even know if its the same cat. About a year maybe two years ago they played Rescue Me live on The Bone and whomever was doing the guitar solo absolutely killed it.
  8. Oh Earl. There you go again? Ive never heard anything by UFo and Rescue Me is top Shelf 80’s hard rock. Tell the gtr player from YnT that he is one bad morherfucker for me mmkay
  9. I can only pick one? Thats bullshit. Between the Wheels
  10. Anything from the debut to Free Hand/ Playing the Fool is worth hearing from these guys.
  11. My favorite of all his (VDGG/Solo) is Godbluff. Im a huge fan of his music and he's right up there with Zappa as my favorite musicians of all time, though to really call him a musician is stretching the definition. Dont sleep on the reformed VDG stuff, the most recent album Do Not Diaturb is a classic and a few of the orhers are up there as well. They are different from the earlier stuff, way more accessible, not as harrowing and as he calls it more serious fun. I do recommend the mid 70’s tryptich of Godbluff/ Still Life/World Record. For his solo stuff It can be more hit and miss and I would put it from 73-82 (Silent Corner thru to Enter K) as being pretty excellent and consistent. The Margin is the live album from ‘84 and it groups together his solo band work with a crack ensemble. Oh and don’t forget drummer Guy Evans. Anything he plays on is worth hearing. One of the greats and hes still playing brilliantly.
  12. Being that you have a picture of him on your profile I'm not surprised. I actually met him once briefly and he seemed like a very down to earth guy(he even shook my hand and introduced himself even though I already knew who he was). Thats awesome! what year did you meet him? That's a very good question. I believe it was 2008. Really? Lucky. :) He does seem pretty down to earth huh. His lyrics are some of the most harrowing in music history.
  13. And we must not forget no guitar solo's. so the songs seem a billion years longer than they really are. god i hate that album. Mick Yeah I hate ABBA too. ;)
  14. Crystal Ballroom? Yep! Gotta love that place! Yup. I lived in Portland for about 4 years and must’ve been to the Crystal Ballroom a hundred times. It’s just been so long that I almost didn’t recognize it. I love the bouncy floor. Never been inside but I got very nicely toasted at the McMenamins downstairs.
