I know of 2 people who signed up just for this game, but there were probably millions who did so. NBC got an unexpected new year income bump. I wonder how many of those will forget or decide they like the rest of the programming and keep subscribing?

Taylor watching the game through her neighbors window to avoid signing up for Peacock.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Moving swiftly one day after parting ways with legendary coach Bill Belichick, the New England Patriots hired Jerod Mayo as his successor and the 15th head coach in franchise history, the team announced Friday.

A linebacker for the Patriots from 2008 to 2015 after being selected in the first round of the draft out of Tennessee, Mayo joined Belichick's coaching staff in 2019, serving as linebackers coach.

Mayo, 37, is set to be formally introduced at a news conference Wednesday.

By signing Mayo, the Patriots have made it clear that they went to Jerod because they expect him to put on a coaching clinic.

Why would Mayo be any less of a ex Belichick flop than his previous ex coaches? Taking over for a legend? He'll last 2 years tops.

I'm really enjoying my Peacock subscription so far

When realizing the NFL had this game locked into the Peacocksuckers network, I just watched the RedWings game for free. Unfortunately, this is probably the future for major sports taking away free broadcast and going exclusively to streamers.

  4. Lions will beat the Rams tomorrow because:

    1. It's a waxing crescent moon, which happened the last time the Lions won a playoff game.

    2. They're wearing all blue uniforms (blueberries) and they're 5-0 in those unis.

    3. They're undefeated in prime time games (don't get me started over that Cowpies game...you know they won that).

    4. All the media and talking heads are going gaga over Stafford's return to Detroit.

Congratulations Michigan.  Otoh, I have this itch that indicates Michael Penix might make something of himself in the NFL.

I don't think either QB did well for themselves in this game. Penix looks like he needs a perfectly clean pocket to excel. Michigan had him rattled most of the game. JJ has the talent, but never really blew anyone away this season. Reminds me of a Zack Wilson 2.0.

He's a great QB but dammit the Ohio State fans are obnoxious about it. I guess they have to find something to be happy about since the actual college team lost to MICHIGAN and their bowl game.

Stroud 20/26. Glad we didn't have to suffer through Minshew in a playoff game. Colts were playing with house money since Richardson went down.

That might be my favorite track from Southern Steel.

Morse is in my top-5, and I've been a fan since The Dregs' Unsung Heroes album. I could listen to him shredding it up all day long, but I'm more drawn to his melodic songs. Vista Grande is a good example, along with these.

Always fitting the music, never gratuitous.

"I don't like the Dregs because they don't have a singer!". That's because they have a musical vocabulary beyond the realm of your understanding.

I think I need a musical .brain cleansing. Time for a deep dive into some Dregs and Morse.

At then of the above article, a possible explanation:

"...maybe the confusion came out of sheer gamesmanship. In what was clearly an effort to confuse the Cowboys, the Lions had both Decker and Skipper approach Allen, likely with the hope that someone on the Dallas defense wasn’t playing close attention and might miss which of the two players was actually eligible. But in the effort to confuse the Cowboys, the Lions instead confused Allen, who could have heard Decker report as eligible but mistakenly believe it was Skipper."

gotta have better way of doing this...like having a brightly colored white board on the sideline with the players number that's eligible written on it. or a red sticker placed on the eligible jersey.

detroit's offense tends to out-cute itself. they have plenty of talent not to rely on bullshit trick plays.

  9. I like Campbell and I think he needs to be coach of the year, especially considering the turnaround since mid season last year. I think they're 2nd in wins since last November. That's alot coming from a dogshit team they were before.

Campbell and the Lions need to a) be more selective in their 'gambles' and b) need to realize that 2 or 3 plays will make or break you in a close playoff type game. Barnes whiffing on a sack safety and then the 'boys score a long one. That's a 9 point turnaround in one play. Detroit's Oline sucking on assignments in the first half...way too many missed blocks. Campbells going for it on the 4 yard line when they went backwards from the 2 in 2 plays. Take the 3 points and regroup....and that 3 points would have won the game. That's 12 points they gave up on mistakes which makes the 2 pointer mute.

At least they know they can play with the Cowboys and hopefully this fuels the fire. At this point, the playoff matchup is Stafford vs Goff in Detroit. I'll take that since Stafford is not mobile and mobile QBs gives the Lions fits.

  10. everytime nfl network showed the playoff situation they had to harp..."if the vikings win out, they'll win the division."

pfffffft bwaaaaaahahaha suck it nfl network.

most egregious non pass interference call late in the bengals game. SOB held him for 10 yards....pull the whistle out of your ass. mullens is an interception machine...just as many picks as TDs in his career.

most complete game by the lions in a while. defense finally waking up with important guys coming back soon. with minny twice and dallas once, home field could get interesting. mali...mele....meli...number 6 was a beast. involved in every tackle. i think they found a decent strong safety.
