  1. Just typical Frank being kind of a PITA. Perhaps to a point. He also did not say some of those bands weren't, but sometimes they were. I am not convinced he was entirely wrong here. I also suspect the musical landscape of late 1984 had something to do with this as well. Oracle is at least partially right IMO, if not completely.
  2. I respectfully submit that in the case of AIC, Duvall sounds like Staley because Cantrell is still there to do the harmonies (think Yes in 1980...when Trevor Horn did the singing for Drama and people thought he sounded like Jon Anderson).
  3. Edited because my comment was mentioned and redundant.
  4. IIRC this is the time the band has said they started taping some of their shows on tour. I think it would be nice with future releases to see entire concerts released from those tours (especially if they are shows with no audience source running around). I will believe it when I see it, but I would also be all over them making all of their concert recordings for sale. I would not be surprised to see the full Edmonton '81 show in 2021.
  5. Gotta decide what I want. I like the CD, vinyl, and shirt but I would have to order them separate.
  6. Funny but it seems that a lot of folks that dig Superconductor will express love for Madrigal or Rivendell. Give me upbeat parody all day over that stuff. IMO Superconductor is a bit pedestrian. By that point in their career, I would like to think they could have done better. If it was parody, then it was not a very good (IMHO). Yes, I like Madrigal (wouldn't say I love it though - it's probably my least favorite tune on that album but a nice preparation for Cygnus X-1). No, I do not like Rivendell.
  7. I wonder if the tracks left off the 2.20.78 show will be included.
  8. I hope so. I am far more interested in this than I am with the 2112 box set. I hope for an unreleased concert, but won't hold my breath.
  9. I am surprised Link Wray has not made it in yet. I bet the Cars finally get in and Geils may too on account of J's death.
  10. I suspect that 1.5-2 steps down is where it can get problematic.
  11. Three of a Perfect Pair - King Crimson (How could I forget?) Ride the Lightning - Metallica
  12. Maybe not as busy, but he certainly built his parts the same and was superior at improvising in the moment.

I think a pro-shot Power Windows video would be nice, but I will believe it exists when it surfaces.

Ron, I bet that Capital Center talk gets old.
  15. CP gets my vote. It is the last album I can listen to without skipping a track (and yes, there are albums before that where I would skip at least one track).
  16. IMO the RtB tour was the least enjoyable.
  17. Much as I love the Doors, Who's Next is the best of this lot.
  18. When 25% of the album is tied up in one track that is awful, this doesn't help. Lorraine probably nails it.
  19. Ron, Is the photo in question the one where Geddy is playing the fiesta red '60 Jazz? If so, I never knew the story (or noticed the sticks). While I do not disagree that he has earned retirement and/or that he is free to do what he likes (and he owes me NOTHING), I do think that if I had a bandmate doing this stuff and did not wish to do it anymore (and was that much of a buzzkill as is rumored), I think I would make music without that person. If Geddy and Alex did stuff with another drummer and didn't call it Rush, I would go see it. I wonder if they could do this and play 2000-5000 seat halls.
  20. If there is a pic of the '72 Jazz being used on the Signals tour, I would like to see it.
  21. This thread has encouraged me to check out those first 3 albums.
  22. One that has yet to be mentioned: Clouds Taste Metallic by The Flaming Lips.
