  1. Tell that to the complainers. Anyways, half-assing it isn't really Neil's style. He would give 110 percent of half-assing it. He would definitely full-ass it. Such as, he would turn on the drum sequencer during the concert, then sit back and read and Ayn Rand novel while Geddy and Alex played away.
  2. And yet in the same song he also wrote that one must put aside the alienation. But he also said in the same song "one must put up barriers to keep oneself intact." For example, sprinting to the safety of the tour bus. He's simply trying to keep himself intact.
  3. Neil addressed this issue decades ago: "I can't pretend a stranger is a long awaited-friend."
  4. He's not half-assing it. Might be different in some parts, but that's just normal for live shows.

    POWER WINDOWS

Scroll down to the Power Windows section at: http://www.2112.net/powerwindows/transcripts/Transcripts.htm More articles and interviews than you can shake a stick at!
  6. Occasionally I've seen vids on youtube where the band members/producers talk about the details of a song, and usually they go into a lot of depth abou why the song was constructed the way it was. It's like they're writing a story. For example, somewhere on youtube Rush is talking about why Red Barchetta sounds the way it does, why the guitars sound the way they do, etc. (Sorry I forget where I saw it).
  7. Haha, shortest drum solo in history! Only Peart could pull it off!
  8. I got thinking about that after watching this vid by Ayn Rand (Japanese Band): The keyboardist does the ding (2:35) but after he does it, he makes this prayer motion. Or maybe he was just happy that he didn't f--- it up?
  9. go to 2:34 at: https://www.youtube....h?v=kNoR6VSP4wY
  10. Just discovered the "ignore user" feature... works pretty good!
  11. Usually, musicians have detailed reasons as to why they wrote the songs the way they did. Other than "IT SOUNDED SO COOL DUDE!" Just wondering if anyone has read about the thought processes that went into Hemispheres.
  12. Is there any official reason/rationale/explanation for that solitary "ding" during hemispheres? Is it related to Buddhism in some way?
  13. But for singers, there are so many tricks to "fake it." Such as, lowering the overall pitch of the song, switching octaves while singing, flip yodels, not singing the whole song, avoiding certain songs, etc. And if all else fails, Ged can break out the Auto-Tune! The kids won't notice!
  14. Far Cry: "wandering madmen f---king at strangers and speaking in tongues." Seven Cities of Gold: "A man can lose his past, in a country like this Wondering anus Parched and nameless" However I figured out pretty quickly that I was mis-hearing it!
