  1. Great book! I whipped right through it, even thought it was 500+ pages. In fact, I thought it seemed a little rushed at times. (No pun intended!)

Geddy did say that the editors chopped out a lot, maybe there will be an "expanded edition" in the future.

Also, it was neat that Geddy mentioned many of his musical influences. For example:

  3. Does anybody know what format of music gives the most profits to the artist? Like is is iTunes, google play, amazon, or going to a record store? I've been buying mostly iTunes stuff, but I'm wondering if a lot of the profits are going to straight to Apple Inc, rather than the people who actually made the music. (To be clear, I'm interested in giving more money to the artists, not the middlemen!)

  4. I wasn't a fan of him taking off the mask so easily when Rey questioned him wearing it. At least when Han confronted him it made sense for father and son to look each other in the eye. Taking the mask off for Rey was just one of the many things in the movie that showed Kylo is not a true Sith Lord yet.

Would have made more sense to keep it on for the mystery.

I thought about that too. BUT if I had been dragged into the mystery for 90% of the movie only to finally have the David Schwimmer-like face revealed before me, I would've been more disappointed than what the movie actually did.

I think they should've just left it on. We didnt need to see his face.

I didn't WANT to see his face. And when I saw it, I really didn't want to see it.

Not nice. Look, you made Darth Emo have a sad... :)

    Kill it with fire.

Reminds me of Jim Carrey in Dumb & Dumber right before he has that gagging look.

"Sith & Sither: the Adventures of Snokes and Kylo."

  6. My suspension of disbelief was shattered when the son of Han and Leia looked like Marilyn Manson. Sorry but there's no way in any kind of real life scenario he would look like that.

What should he have looked like?

Yeah, I'm not saying he looks like either one, but there are friends & acquaintances I know that look nothing like their parents. And much more dissimilar than what you see here.

Star Wars mailman? Maybe...but it's not like the casting directing was saying Finn was the natural born son of Han & Leia. ;)

Maybe Han beat him as a child, thus disfiguring his face. Would explain a lot.

  7. A good summary of Lucas being a bitch:

    http://io9.gizmodo.c...-abo-1750464055

One of Lucas' comments presciently describes the big flaw with the film:

"I never got to be blown away by the big ship coming over the thing, or anything. But this time I’m going to be, because I have no idea what they’re doing."

Sorry George, the first scene was identical to ANH, with a big ship coming over the thing.

Were you hoping for a pre-teen driving a convertible off a cliff with background music provided by the Beasties? I was kind of thinking it was going to happen but I'm glad it didn't.

    No....

Actually, yes! That would have been pretty cool.

So I suppose the license plate on that convertible would be THX 138?

    Signed,

    "Physical Graffiti"

And in the passenger seat would be Howard the Duck.

Hahahaha! One of the biggest flops in the galaxy.

  11. Saw it two days ago... took the kids... now that I have had a while to consider the movie... IT SUCKED!

George? George Lucas is that you? You moved to Winnipeg?

    I have been revealed.

It's tragic what Disney has done to Star Wars.

Then again, I made 4 billion dollars in the deal.

Should I laugh, or should I cry?

    Hmmm...

  12. Saw it in the theater in 1978!

I told my Mom I wanted to see a movie called "Star Wars." She asked, "why would you want to see something about movie stars fighting?" Not joking.

We lived in the outskirts, so it took a while to see it. Actually when I saw it, it had been running in the theater for one whole year! Back in the pre-VCR days, movies would stick around as long as people paid to see them.

In that one-year time I had basically read every comic book and article about the movie, so nothing really took me by surprise. Still I was awestruck. However the droid scene inside the sandcrawler creeped me out.

My Dad fell asleep during the movie. Later, when my brother and I were talking about it, Dad asked, "you mean you actually LIKED that?"

    Oh parents, so silly sometimes!

  13. Instead of simply saying "it sucked," I'll give some reasons why it sucked.

    - So very many plot holes.

    - The Sith Lord weeping like a schoolgirl.

    - So many plot points stolen from Ep. IV. The death star, the desert planet, you name it... even the cantina scene!

    - The Sith Lord looking like Marilyn Manson.

    - Hey lets give the stormtrooper a lightsaber... look, he's almost as good as a Sith Lord!

    - Hey lets give this girl a lightsaber... look, she's almost as good as, or better than, a Sith Lord!

    - The numerous distracting CG characters. When they show a closeup of a CG character talking, I just start thinking of how unnatural those computer graphics look.

    - Somehow the important characters were under-developed. Quick, name that hot-shot Resistance pilot!

    - Why didn't Phasma put up any sort of fight when they told her to deactivate the shields.

    ... plus many others!
