  1. Geoff Tate basically did the same thing, but the guy in the audience wasn't doing anything. He literally grabbed a random person's phone and flung it into the audience for absolutely zero reason. UPDATE: And I just read a comment that a fan at a Geoff Tate's Queensryche show also had his phone out and Geoff had the nerve to spit in his face for filming him. What a f***ing asshole.
  2. I've seen them live five times since 2010 and every time, they've gotten better.
  3. Kansas is definitely one of the most talented bands out there. I'd even say that they're just as talented as Rush. Kansas was one of the first bands to implement the violin into rock music and have it be a forefront instrument. Despite many Kansas fans saying that the original six were the best lineup, I love the lineups of the 1990s also. Especially because in that time period, they got David Ragsdale to play both the violin and the guitar. Some good examples of how amazing this band is.
  4. I'm still part of the consensus that Geddy sounded better on the Clockwork Angels Live DVD than he did on Time Machine Live.
  5. Yeah good point. If it were only up to him, I'm sure they would already be retired Oh, I doubt that. People like to give him crap for being introverted towards his fans and touring but there's this: It was ultimately his decision that Vapor Trails-present exists. He could've decided to never come back after Test For Echo and the dark days in the late 90's. Then if you go to Clockwork Angels he wrote a full-fledged story and delivered some of the best drum work he's ever done. He went all out on that album. That doesn't sound like a man who's wanted to retire for many years. I know people who absolutely HATE Neil for his shyness.
  6. I'm pretty sure you already know my favorite. I've always had a love for Witch Hunt despite the fact that Rush has so many other amazing songs. I guess I was completely bewitched (no pun intended) by the way the pre-chorus riff just explodes into those big, heavenly 80s synths and my personal connection to the poignant lyrics.
  7. Gene is a good bassist though. I mean, listen to the bass line on Detroit Rock City, it kicks ass!
  8. I think they've downtuned Xanadu as far back as the Moving Pictures tour. All the 80s stuff they can definitely play in the original pitch.
  9. Geddy all the way. Not only is he really talented, but he's a complete sweetheart. Geddy Lee, Hugh Jackman, and Eric Carr from KISS (RIP) should set the precedent for how all celebs should treat their fans. Alex is a little more in tune with my personality though...quirky sense of humor, but my humor is ten times more raunchy and vulgar. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to censor myself here. I really feel horrible for what happened to Neil in the late 90s. No one should ever have to feel the pain of losing two loved ones almost at once, but I'm sorry, Since then, Neil has become a bitter, lonely old man who cares only of himself. And it's a shame, because he really is one of the best drummers in the world.
  10. He's Gene Simmons...FROM KISS. He thinks that monogamy and polygamous relationships are just big words like gymnasium.
  11. As a die-hard KISS fan, I can say that one Gene Simmons is enough for any world.
  12. Quick to judge, quick to anger, slow to understand. Ignorance and prejudice and fear walk hand in hand.
  13. Happy Birthday Geddy :)
  14. Ok then....stick an intermission between Far Cry and Dreamline then. That would be a good song to open a second set with...
  15. 1. Intro/The Spirit of Radio 2. Subdivisions 3. Limelight (sometimes replaced with Freewill) 4. Distant Early Warning 5. Time Stand Still (sometimes replaced with One Little Victory) 6. Cold Fire 7. Carve Away The Stone 8. Xanadu (full version) 9. Instrumental jam (featuring portions of YYZ, La Villa Strangiato, Leave That Thing Alone) 10. Clockwork Angels 11. Far Cry 12. Dreamline/ Drum Solo 13. Territories 14. The Body Electric (sometimes replaced with Red Sector A) 15. Finding My Way 16. Fly By Night 17. Circumstances 18. 2112 Part 1: Overture 19. 2112 Part 2: The Temples of Syrinx 20. 2112 Part 7: The Grand Finale 21. Mystic Rhythms 22. Closer To The Heart Encore 23. The Enemy Within (Part 1 of Fear) 24. The Weapon (Part 2 of Fear) 25. Witch Hunt (Part 3 of Fear) 26. Tom Sawyer
  16. To be honest, I never thought that Witch Hunt, aside from the intro, was ominous or creepy. Maybe the two verses could be construed as creepy, but the pre-chorus to chorus transition is just freakin....ORGASMIC.
  17. Undoubtedly Witch Hunt. I love The Enemy Within though.
  18. I will admit, I thought this setlist was real.... But in all seriousness, if this was real, I'd probably replace I Think I'm Going Bald with Mystic Rhythms and I'd drop New World Man, Limbo, and Red Lenses and replace it with The Enemy Within, The Weapon, Witch Hunt, and Freeze....And I'd like to see The Body Electric somewhere inside that list.
  19. There might not be actual witch hunts that hunt witches anymore, but there are endless amounts of figurative "witch hunts" going on today, an example would be the anti-gay bill that passed in Russia before the Sochi Olympics. And whenever I see someone that is racist, anti-semetic, or homophobic, I always think of the last lyrics of Witch Hunt. "Quick to judge, quick to anger, slow to understand. Ignorance and prejudice and fear walk hand in hand."
  20. Hey guys. I'm new here! I would like to make my first topic on The Rush Forum be about my absolute favorite Rush song of all time, Witch Hunt (Part III of Fear). I've always had a love for that one song despite the fact that Rush has so many other amazing songs. I guess I was completely bewitched (no pun intended) by the way the pre-chorus riff just explodes into those big, heavenly 80s synths and my personal connection to the poignant lyrics. Now we all know that Witch Hunt has been performed live on four tours and that all versions have been released on some format, which one is your favorite? The album cut or the live versions? This is how I'd rank them. No.1: Grace Under Pressure Live. I absolutely love this version of Witch Hunt. Geddy sounds absolutely fantastic, the band was super tight on this show, and I love the choral-sounding synths used. Also, I love Neil's usage of the Simmons drum pads (I've always liked the famous fake drum noise that they made, the "DZSH, DZSH, DZSH" sound.) No.2: Snakes and Arrows Live. This version is definitely the heaviest version of Witch Hunt. Definitely more ballsy and guitar-driven than the GUP/Power Windows tour where it was more synth based. Alex and Neil sound great, but I feel that the mix kind of drowns out the synths. The transition from the pre-chorus to the chorus is like a punch in the face, though. No.3: Time Machine/ Moving Pictures Live 2011. Like the Snakes and Arrows version, this one is also pretty punchy and guitar based. However, I noticed that the synths are a little more noticeable. No.4: The Studio Version. What can you say, the version on Moving Pictures. It's pretty cool, but I definitely like the song preformed live more. Gives it more of an "epicness". No.5: A Show of Hands. Compared to the other versions, this one really falls flat. Partially due to the production. Compared to the Snakes and Arrows and Grace Under Pressure versions, this version of Witch Hunt sounds kind of limp and lifeless.
