The Criticism of Grace Under Pressure to Hold Your Fire...
Geddy's Soul Patch replied to agubrizbassman's topic in Rush
I definitely find GUP to HYF to be some of their strongest work. Yes it was very synth heavy and Alex took a sort of backseat but he managed to write some of his best guitar work during those three albums. They were definitely softening their some but IMO they were still writing very progressive music -
Analog Kid, New World Man, Digital Man

Yeah I assumed it was probably wrong, but I thought there might be a small chance- 26 replies

My cousin, a huge Rush fan, once told me that the lyrics to The Analog Kid, New World Man, and Digital Man were based off of Alex, Neil, and Geddy respectively. I have done a fair amount of searching on the internet to try to confirm this and I have come up with nothing. Can any tell me if there is any shred of truth to this?

If third eyes were exotic and strange They would likely have gladly exchanged them for something a little more plain, maybe something a little more sane

Cinderella Man has fantastic bass!

I think it is definitely one of their worst albums. Test for Echo is the only one that might be worse. Having said that, it's still a decent album with some strong songs on it

Recently, while watching the live version of "A Passage to Bangkok" from the Snakes and Arrows Tour I noticed that Neil doesn't play the drum fills during the chorus. I assume that Neil is extremely embarrassed by the lyrics of that song and not playing the drum fills is his little way of protesting the song. Any thoughts? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kB0vgbB7zs&t=1m2s

I've always felt that Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres is Geddy's masterpiece in terms of bass. Xanadu is another bass performance that I adore. Turn the Page is nice and snappy. Geddy is the master of bass!

Witch Hunt for me. That synth is epicly powerful

Caress of Steel album cover now makes sense to me
Geddy's Soul Patch replied to furie's topic in Rush
Funny that you should start this topic. Awhile ago a friend of mine had the exact same theory. He was like "Dude! The Caress of Steel cover is a native american in a headdress!" and I was like "Woah duuuude you're totally right man!" -

Which Full Album Would Your Rather Hear Live?
Geddy's Soul Patch replied to Pars123's topic in On The Lighted Stage
I've gotta go with Grace Under Pressure, mostly for the second side.
