  1. Closer To The Heart is one of my all time favorites, and the only one I think Ged really can't do justice anymore, unless he decides to sing it completely different. Good thing the instruments were record perfect and pretty much everyone sings along to that one. Too bad they really couldn't get away with not playing it, would've been very disappointed if they hadn't on R40, considering that will likely go down in history as the one time my dad and I saw Rush live. Concessions must be made I suppose, voices grow old, but songs like that are timeless.
  2. Yeah, because they suck at spelling. Rite!
  3. Ged, the most ingeniously, unforgettably, timelessly awesome bassist in all of rock and roll, if not music. Read that epithet and guess who I voted for.
  4. to the overplayed arguments: LZ hits are mostly all overplayed, IV just happens to have a lot of them. Dazed and Confused? Whole Lotta Love? Ramble On? Kashmir? Over The Hills? The Ocean? D'yer Maker? Fool In The Rain? All Of My Love? Rock And Roll? Black Dog? Immigrant Song? Stairway??? All overplayed, cuz they deserve to be overplayed.
  5. At the very moment, Styx, just on Grand Illusion. Man, they had such awful lows after Paradise, but before that they were on top of their craft and on top of the world.
  6. Dang, now I'm listening to Grand Illusion again. Apparently Come Sail Away still hasn't worn off on me. Wow. thanks Texas King! :D
  7. Oh, Castle Walls, most definitely. The Wall is a fine track, but it lacks the wow and awe of Castle Walls, and doesn't really make up for that loss in another way. Castle Walls is pure epic American prog. Actually might be my favorite on Grand Illusion upon relistening.
  8. Tough call...neither is particularly my favorite from its respective album or band, but a solid prog track. Lemme check.
  9. Paranoid and Master Of Reality, the only two I've heard.
  10. Revolver - The Beatles "Yellow Ledbetter" - Pearl Jam from iTunes, cuz this is the third week in a row The Beatles albums have been marked down to 8 bucks a pop (a steal, essentially), and I could resist finally owning Revolver no longer. Too high a chance it goes back up again come Friday.
  11. With polls like this I don't think we'll ever get bored around here, lol.
  12. Hahaha! Thanks buddy!!!! Why not join the party!!!! I was the Texas King ten years ago. Now I'm just Barney Rubble. Get it? Yabba Dabba Scooby Doo! Seems like we have a new Texas King around here as of late, big fan of polls he is, lol. My original response is somewhat of a riddle, but I have in fact joined the party. ;)
  13. I'm gonna take a wild stab at my own challenge with one of those totally inaccurate yet meaningful one-song answers... "Rock And Roll All Nite" - KISS ...specifically the live version from Alive!
  14. Yep, pretty sure I made the last one, though to be fair it was just a poll attached to a general LZ discussion thread, just to start conversation, so this might just be a little original Earl! :) My favorite shall remain the same, unnamed.
  15. There are a lot of things I'll take over awful, distasteful, infuriating music, but diarrhea and massive indigestion don't make the list. Sorry to have a different preference.
  16. Nickel back has a few, A FEW, good songs. I'd rather hear those a few hundred times than have stomach issues because of bad candy.
  17. Bought Yellow Ledbetter today, so feeling more sympathetic to PJ than usual. Both are great bands. Just excellent.
  18. Guys, Permanent Waves is a 70s album. Quit hijacking my thread with that 70s release, I want just the 80s stuff in here. :P ;)
  19. I hate this question, I thought this thread was better off dead, though I am posting here just to make my opinion on this thread official while it's up anyway. Rock cannot die.
  20. Welcome to The Rush Forum!!!!!!! :D Read that one recently, very cool guy!
  21. Welp, after a reasonable wait time, it would appear TRF's favorite band that isn't Rush, happens to be the same band folks thought Rush were when they first heard Working Man on the radio: Led Zeppelin! Break out Stairway and cozy up in some Kashmir, cuz the Zeppelin now rules in these airways! Of course, a lot of other bands came close...The Beatles, for instance, or Black Sabbath! Close race overall, and someday those results could just change ;)
  22. With the most fav eighties metal albums threads, I decided it would be interesting to discover everyone's most fav eighties albums across all its bands and genres. I might be able to answer this one myself, but I probably won't. Happy decisioning! :)
  23. Sorry..what?!? Ahem. HE SAID... HE. DOESNT. LIKE. FREDDIES. VOICE!!! You spelled "Freddie's" wrong. It needs an apostrophe.
  24. You know the drill...have at it. (Gulp)
  25. Last child is barely funky. Aerosmith had untouchable groove, but when it comes to funk they aren't getting close to Bowie's plastic soul.
