  1. Pearl Jam- Dark Matter And just like that, Pearl Jam delivers the goods. Don't mind if I do... Are my top two albums from two of my top three artists/bands both out today? Lacuna Coil- new single, has a title, not sure it matters Didn't like it. Bored.
  2. Taylor Swift- The Tortured Poets Department And just like that, you have my album of the year.
  3. I genuinely think Lemonade is an album for the ages. It really speaks to people. It's just a musically and thematically powerful statement. It's not just noise and words, it's something extremely precious.
  4. Me and Gabriel Aplin share mutual friends. She's really sweet in real life! Was awesome seeing her blow up in fame
  5. Lana Del Rey- Born To Die Lana Del Rey- Ultraviolence In all honesty, I'm shocked I am not already a die hard fan. I've revised my opinions on her first two albums, I underrated them upon release. I am in awe. Beautiful, stylish, and highly creative, this is an artist who knows how to explore her muse through retro sounds without sounding contrived or trend chasing. Taylor Swift might be toppled yet.
  6. I love this album, but yes, it is generic. Lately I've been spinning Kingdom Of Desire a lot. That one has really grown on me.
  7. No matter how much praise I give this album, I can't deny that if I don't skip High Price Of Hate, the album flow is so disrupted I switch off. Normally I embrace albums I enjoy start to finish, and the skips grow on me. This is one album I had to edit for my playlist/burn my tracklist off on CD.
  8. Alter Bridge- ABIII.5 The three bonus tracks are fantastic. Just love this of Alter Bridge. I'd put this album up against the best of Soundgarden for SOARING rock brilliance.
  9. Once More Round The Sun was, for me, a really great album. I still find The Hunter quite dull but I love that album.
  10. Alter Bridge- ABIII In my top five albums of the 2010's. Beautiful collection of songs.
  11. The Gathering- Mandylion Paradise Lost- One Second Lacuna Coil- Lacuna Coil EP Nightwish- Oceanborn Within Temptation- Enter Oh gosh...take me back to the nineties please!
  12. Lacuna Coil, Dark Tranquillity and Rhapsody (Of Fire)
  13. Dark Tranquillity- Character Dark Tranquillity- Fiction This band is phenomenal. Unlike In Flames, they never delved into mainstream waters. No hit singles, no soaring anthems ready for crowd singalongs...but I love that about them. They also have one of the strongest discographies in metal, but somehow remain underrated. Oh well. They should be as big as In Flames at least, and I'd say fans of Trivium, Lamb Of God and KillSwitch Engage should look into them.
  14. Exactly! I am rarely home spinning albums anymore. I'm often out and about listening on the go, which is why Spotify is important to me now
  15. I always forget how much I like any genre when I'm not into it. Right now I'm like "symphonic metal, it will never catch on", but then I look at my CD collection and that's like 10% of it 🤣 And emo, when I'm not in the mood I am like "ha, fancy being 33 listening to that!" Then the mood hits and OHMYGODFUCKMENOWJIMMY
  16. I love how Mick posts often metal bands he loves, then he leaves the genre for one minute and then everyone is like WOAAAAAAH WOW every time he comes back to it later on 🤣
  17. Well...maybe...Black Anima is a really strong album aside from the mix. But they do seem to be slow on a follow up...I swear they've been writing for at least two years now. Hope it's not the end. But I'd hate them to turn into Leaves Eyes who just released the fourth exact same sounding album in a row.
  18. I've noted a lot of bands doing re-recordings lately. Paradise Lost, Sonata Arctica, In Flames and I'm sure many more...I think it's an easy sell. The worst part of the new Comalies for me is that it is actually a really well done album. Great vocals, great songs, great playing...but we know how it sounded before and that ruins any chance of enjoying this version. And honestly, one thing I've noticed is a lack of sensuality. Early LC had a somewhat passionate, warm, breathy vocal style from Cristina that was backed up by the style of music they played. These songs lack any of that sort of ambience and it leaves us with a really soulless experience. I enjoy some of the new takes, but even then I think they took incredible songs and made them sound like modest b-sides at best. But the production is so much better than Black Anima's. I wish they would fix that instead.
  19. Lacuna Coil- In A Reverie Lovely little album. They weren't yet on the level of The Gathering or Paradise Lost, but they were clearly on the right track. Lacuna Coil- Shallow Life I wish I hated this album, I feel left out. Oh well. Guess I will just have to keep on enjoying it...but not as much as anything else they did. I like this handbag pop era of Lacuna Coil. I Like It is a crunchy pop rocker ready made for Glee or High School Musical. What's the iss...oh wait, never mind. I get it. Sorry, I still singalong to every word 🤣
  20. She was pretty much an icon here in the UK. Her substance abuse didn't detract from her music being massive here. When she died, it wasn't a shock but it did really sting. Amy Winehouse has fantastic albums. I feel she paved the way for Adele, who was constantly compared to her in her early days. Winehouse was a huge presence on our radio before she died, so when she passed, it's hard to know if they played her more or just carried on as normal.
