  1. Recently got on a rush kick again , thank you trailer park boys, would really love g/p surround the most but wouldn't mind power windows, hemispheres or permanent waves. I'm actually surprised that they did signals, but it's definitely an interesting mix , also curious about hold your fire as I really dig what they did with the CD remaster (same goes for the signals remix there too)
  2. Body Electric

    Every Album

Presto and roll the bones arent too great to much filler sure, red tide, super conductor, show dont tell, and scars, are good but thats not even half of the album, but conterparts seemed to get back on track, and i love T4e
  3. i would wear mine because i want to dress nice today :)
  4. Counterparts tour for first 2 discs then maybe either a signals disc or better yet the rest of the songs from the grace under pressure concert that arent on the bonus disc from replayx3 plus maybe some rare tracks like afterimage or place the live bside version of vital signs from the mp tour that was not on exit stage left but was on the new world man single
  5. I got the completist version last week, I really like it especially the test for echo stuff, that had a very good chance of being the last tour and it was lovely. My only regret is that there was no Live version of cold fire I hope they release one (i dont know how long that song was in their setlists) Also the extra completeist disc is dvd even though I have the bluray version but thats fine. I like the box set Because of the extras.
  6. The R40 box has lock and key and more importantly a bunch of nice performances from the test for echo tour!
  7. On the cd , it has limelight and another version of closer to the heart. Both from exit stage left era (eg. 1980 or 1981 tours) and spirit of radio and tom sawyer from a show of hands Dvd. Note: this gives cd versions of limelight (which was avaliable only on a king biscuit compilation) and spirit of radio and tom sawyer from the show of hands dvd which are not on the cd release. The other version of closer to the heart wasn't released any where else iirc
  8. Though I am happy for your random act of awesome shuffleness!
  9. Sorry, but I have to one up you, at roughly the same time, I went to a used book/movie/music store, the had 2 copies of rush replayx3 , so I asked if I could listen to the bonus cd for grace under pressure tour and low and behold it had 16 tracks instead of 12. I found a rare best buy version of rush replay x3 ! I promptly paid 20$ and hurried home my rush collection is now that much better!!!!!
  10. Love the whole thing but I selected twilight zone
  11. Love the whole thing but I selected twilight zone
  12. To me, grace is the best album by rush, I love the dark lyrical content. It was the first new release I picked up when it came out, and I immediately fell in love with the imagery provided by neils wordsmithing. Dont get me wrong, I have everything by them, and the albums up to and including power windows a perfect to me. Sadly they wouldnt get that perfection back until counterparts and more recently CA
  13. I actually love the soundtrack from grace under pressure quite a bit, though I did vote different stages bc it is quite lovely . I love that album bc of the vastness of the eras , that being said , I have a special place in my heart for grace under pressure I like that they have a bunch of stuff from signals and grace that I totally enjoy (such as the FEAR trilogy in order)my only gripe is that I wish it was longer
  14. does it have a 5.1 mix like some of the sacds that i have , or is it just stereo?
  15. Just listened to the 5.1 version from sectors , I really like the mix , but the epics really stand out (Xanadu and Cygnus) the rest is good as well but cinderella man seems forced like it always does , surround mix notwithstanding.
  16. Presto can be remixed/remastered ten times over in everyway possible but the only way to make it sound ballsey would be a re-recording using different instruments. You can only do so much with the original master tapes. A mid-rangey Wal bass and clean-sounding single coil pickup Signature guitars are still going to sound just the same in the end. yes and no, you could fatten the guitars up by sending the signal out down an auxiliary line and returning them with a slight delay (eg a very small number of milliseconds, but not too much (no echo) then duplicating the signal, essentially "cloning" the signal, possibly panning each stereo pair of guitar returns to fill out the very thin sounding mix that presto suffers from) as for the bass, if there's an unmolested dry bass on the source tape (eg it was eq'd during mixdown as opposed to eq'd during tracking) you could clone it, then roll off the mids and fattten up the low end, but if the source (eg bass track) was eq'd during tracking, this could be VERY difficult.
  17. Well, my point was I assumed you owned Exit...Stage Left so you would at least have those tracks and eliminate that single from your search. It's possible there is a King Biscuit show with Tom Sawyer and The Spirit Of Radio from the A Show of Hands DVD. I've never run across it myself. That version of Lock and Key has never been released except on that laserdisc. ok let me reiterate, the bonus cd included in the best buy exclusive cd for grace under pressure tour contains 4 bonus audio tracks, 2 of which Tom sawyer, and spirit of the radio from the show of hands dvd (please note, that the CD for show of hands has neither tom sawyer or spirit of the radio, but the Dvd has both)The problem: the pcm stereo mix from the dvd of show of hands is somewhat unweildy trying to dump to a CD (strictly audio) format when trying to insert into the show of hands (audio only, itunes) playlist. I used the laser disc to dump lock and key down to an out board CDR deck years ago and have a viable (very kosher level wise) version inserted almost seemlessly into my show of hands playlist. Sadly the laserdisc player died soon after and I cannot duplicate the procedure via laser disc (other wise I would have ripped territories, la villa striangiato, yyz prime mover, tom sawyer and spirit of the radio , all into a useable format, unfortunately the pcm stereo signal from the DVD is not so forgiving) The solution: finding those 2 tracks from the bonus Best buy exclusive CD grace under pressure tour bonus CD OR finding an alternate source ( EG Trying to ascertain if the two live tracks on the german promo for Roll the bones are, in fact from the show of hands tour) so I can I have a more complete version of show of hands, with minimal fuss .
  18. Wow, I kind of already made my own Mostly describing the Exodus of the Elder Race of Man ( some of which before they were called the elder race of man) 1 Red Sector A obvious choice to open with a song about ww2 concentration camp ( a low point in mankind to be sure) 2 Manhattan project ( lovely song about I am become death) 3 The Weapon 4 Territories 5 Between The Wheels (songs 3,4, and 5 providing social commentary on why the Elder Race might have wanted to "leave the planet long ago") 6 Distant Early Warning ( the proverbial shit hitting the proverbial fan) 7 Countdown (despite some one else's post , it's about space exploration, not war, here is where the Elder Race of man leaves earth) 8 Cygnus x1 (is this where the elder race went "to learn and Grow"?) 9 2112 (despite the ending of grand finale , things often dont end right away for example there were nazis in south America long after ww2 ended, so , when they say "we have assumed control" it may only be the beginning...) it could end here...or Option 2 Add 10 Cygnus x 2 Hemispheres (this could be the aftermath of battle between the temples of syrinx and the elder race of man, kind of thin , though) 11 Anthem ( 'nuff said) or.. Option 3 Add 10 A Farewell To Kings 11 Bastille Day 12 Anthem Notes: this could have been bigger for a few reasons 1 Red aggression theres several songs in the 80's that could have easily been added before countdown occurs notably red lenses, red tide, lock and key, etc 2 there are several other political songs that could be added but like the "red " songs they made the playlist unwieldy and awkward (the trees, different strings, witch hunt , closer to the heart etc)
  19. im sorry, what is st louis 1980 and where can I hear it?
  20. Actually no , I dont own either the roll the bones german version, or the best buy version of replayx3. Finding the rush replayx3 best buy version is a total crap shoot as there is nothing on the outside of the box (or inside for that matter )to tell you if the cd of gup tour has the 4 bonus tracks , I merely curious if that particular german single might have had 2 of the tracks im hunting down. For the record , I have the king biscuit flower hour album that has the same version of limelight that is one of the best buy gup tour cd bonus tracks. I inserted it into my exit stage left playlist and it fit fine with minimal tweaking, (other tracks inserted were overture and temples of syrinx live in 1981 from the deluxe 2112 box set, and a youtube ripped version of vital signs that was the vinyl b side of new world man, also recorded in 1981) I wish to do the same with the 2 tracks from the hold your fire tour (again from the gup tour cd bonus best buy dealio) along with my live version of lock and key from thelaserdisc version of show of hands (sadly the llaserdisc player is dead ) So the german version of roll the bones live tracks are exit stage left?
  21. Here's one for the hardcore collectors, on the best buy version of replayx3, the grace under pressure cd has 4 bonus tracks limelight from Esl video, originally released on king biscuit flower hour, a version of closer to heart from 1980 iirc, and more importantly tom sawyer and spirit of radio from show of hands video. That being said, I ve recently have seen a roll the bones cd promo from out of germany, which has spirit of radio, and tom sawyer live , first, are these the same versions? Secondly if so which versions are superior, regrettably, I own neither
  22. as a fan i liked it growing up, but to me grace was the (and still is, MP notwithstanding) the best album released in the 80s. however as a musician HYF has some very juicy lovliness on it that i thoroughly enjoy , such as force 10, open secrets, mission, prime mover lock and key and high water. the rest of the album is decent enough but musically, those 6 tracks really grab me, especially the bass
  23. chemistry i love it now, especially after the 5.1 version, also inclined to agree with the poster mentioning the shorter songs off of aftk madrigal, cindarella man, and title, ive tried but ugh! even with the 5.1 versions
