  2. leave it to led "90s easy listening rock lover" rush to not enjoy a good snarl I wouldn't call him a 90's rock lover. He's the guy I frequently tease him with my love of Counterparts with (which he hates).
  3. Considering they devoted the last two tours to all of Power Windows besides this one and Emotion Detector, I'd say it's unlikely. But then again, maybe not. Alex said the next one is "for the fans", and this one is definitely a fan favorite. Also the last time they pulled it out was R30, so I would definitely welcome this one. I love Power Windows.
  4. Triumph? If you went back in time about 25 years, maybe. Now? Absolutely not. I listened to that live album they recorded during their reunion concert in 2008, and while their playing is great and Gil Moore can still sing well, Rik Emmett's voice is no longer able to Fight The Good Fight. It was pretty gross. He did manage to sound okay for Never Surrender, but the rest of the songs involving his vocals were butchered just because of his shot voice.
  5. Considering the fact that Chad and Lerxst are good buddies, this sounds a lot more likely than the other groups. And even though the Chilis can be a bit weird (see Woodstock '99 and anything involving Anthony Kiedis), they're all VERY good musicians. Chad and Flea are the best rock rhythm section (after Ged and Neil of course). Now if only we could have Frusciante come back. Klinghoffer's good and has his own style, but Frusciante is light years better than him.
  6. I like all the extra work they put into their shows. Really adds to the atmosphere of their performance and truly makes it "An Evening With Rush". The intro/intermission/outro videos on the CA tour weren't really doing it for me but all of the videos during the songs, particularly Big Money, The Garden, and Caravan were awesome. My absolute favorites are the ones from the Snakes and Arrows tour where Alex wakes up next to Neil, and anything starring Geddy/Harry Satchel :rfl: However, the one that made me laugh the hardest was the simple old-timey intro video they did for the Vapor Trails tour with the Three Stooges music. "Starring Geddy Lee, Neil Peart, .... and Brad Pitt!" /hilariousPictureOfLerxst :rfl: :rfl: :rfl:
  7. Ah, my mistake. It's been a while since I watched the Rio concert. A classic.
  8. If I remember correctly, the camera focuses on Alex stomping on the pedal that triggers the growl in the Rio concert.
  9. FBN was before the Taurus pedal days. I'm not sure exactly what's going on here but I've read that it is something that Geddy is doing with his bass. But how is he playing a solid bass line and making that sound at the same time live? Nonono, he's talking about on the album. Live, I'm almost positive it's a pedal.
  10. My only problem with the ATWAS version is they slow down the Hymn of Triumph a bit too much, almost to a complete crawl. This is one of the FEW occasions where I prefer the studio version of a Rush song, and I mean FEW. If Rio had performed it in full rather than only 80% of it, I would have chosen that version. They lit a fire under By-Tor's ass on the Vapor Trails tour.
  11. So I'm listening to one of their greatest cuts from the 70's (probably top 5) and I still haven't been able to figure out what the growl is. Can someone tell me what the By-Tor growl is? I always thought it was Ged doing something crazy with his bass amp, but I can't say for sure. Reference: around 2:42 in the song is when it's going on.
  12. No, keep that idea off your mind. Metallica tried this out, and it isn't great. All you're going to see is a disappointing end to a good idea. They did it a few years back...a lot of people wanted Camera Eye and they got it when they did the whole album (finally) I forget what else was voted.... They have rushpetition.com every time a tour's about to start, apparently they're in connections with Anthem Records so I'm sure the guys know the site exists. The top votes as of last tour were something like Jacob's Ladder, Afterimage, Cut To The Chase, Hemispheres, Countdown, and Available Light, to name a few. And they did none of them! Actually I forgot a couple, probably because they DID play them live: Middletown, Manhattan, and Body Electric. They pulled quite a bit out of the vault for the last tour, mind you.
  13. I'd pick Cut To The Chase or Cold Fire over Everyday Glory but I'd be happy to hear that too.
  14. I could see megadeth going over better just because they're more technical, and many rush fans think technicality is what makes music good. Then you hear Dave Mustaine's voice and regret that decision.
  15. No, keep that idea off your mind. Metallica tried this out, and it isn't great. All you're going to see is a disappointing end to a good idea. 16. Metallica would be much better than Anthrax, IMO. They have a lot of music that is just normal, pop-hard rock. I would have to go with Metallica over Anthrax as well, but damn I think either of those two would drive concert-goers AWAY from Rush. The fact that Lars has the worst timing of a drummer alone would cause this. We also don't need the Trujillo crabwalk or Hetfield hamming it up like David Lee Roth like he always does.
  17. Second favorite Rush album. I can listen to this album the whole way through multiple times a day.
  18. Well that wouldn't be playing the album in its entirety would it? Shhhhhhh
  19. No openers. Please. I want 3 hours of Rush with two full sets, not 2 hours with one mixed bag of songs. They've proven capable of pulling it off for the last 18 years. I think we can all thank 2112 for that (would they have started doing it otherwise?)
  20. Whoa. That would be AWESOME. Holy shit.
  21. I'd expect a version like R30 where they play about 75% of it. Fine by me!
  22. Subdivisions- when Geddy hops on the bass at the start of the chorus Lerxst in Wonderland. Intro to Hemispheres. DUNNNN DUNNNN DUNDUNNNNNNN DUNNNNN End of Nobody's Hero "NOBODY'S HEEEEEROOOOOOOOO" Title track from Test For Echo. All of it. Intro to Far Cry Synth solo in Countdown Guitar solos in Ceiling Unlimited and Between the Wheels Drum solo at the end of Lock and Key Final chorus of Marathon And of course, The Grand Finale!
  23. Yes I can see your point here. Much like Led Zeppelin completely sucked until In Through the Outdoor, when they finally had matured as musicians… and Van Halen never really put it together until 5150 and OU812. Good call! The problem with your analogy is that I never said Rush sucked up until Counterparts.
  24. Yeah I'm not sure which is more heart-attack inducing, Counterparts being #1 or 2112 being below 10
