  1. YOU so wrote that. No one would own the record if they thought it sucked that bad. not funny...
  2. QUOTE (barney_rebel @ Aug 22 2012, 08:35 PM) GRODY..... http://www.thestar.com/entertainment/music...musical-mash-up "Pickleback", Barn??
  3. QUOTE (treeduck @ Jun 17 2008, 04:58 PM) QUOTE (Rushman14 @ Jun 17 2008, 04:56 PM) QUOTE (treeduck @ Jun 17 2008, 02:07 PM) I might even find a copy of the Gillan-era Born Again, I haven't heard that album since about 1983... I think Zero The Hero is the only song worth listening to on that album. I seem to remember "Disturbing the Priest" being pretty good... only thing i remember from that album is i saw the tour and was the last date with my then girlfriend because I crotched her step-dad's weed and speed and it must have fallen to the ground during the "born again tour" concert because when she asked for it back after the show, it was gone. I understand the way I ate my big mac sandwich after the show also had something to do with it as well. Thanks for the memories, Tick...
  4. Joe Elliott, Big Fat Joe I'm sure my before and after would be more severe, but since he's a millionaire rockstar why not give him a little shit, eh?
  5. Kiss Destroyer. Loved that album cover as a kid. The first inside album artwork i loved was kiss alive!
  6. Young aspiring musicians need to realize the importance of writing credits. For example, Tico Torres is only worth less than half of Jon Bon Jovi's $85 net worth. In comparison, Lars is worth only about 5% less than James Hetfield's net worth. Lars must have writing credits and Tico must not have too many. Writing credits get you royalties (checks that come in the mail periodically from an agreed-to cut of generated album sales which you are credited on.) Another example is with Ozzy Osbourne's drummer and bassist on his first couple solo albums. Those guys (half of Uriah Heap) considered themselves band members, played on the albums, but received no credit for their work in terms of royalties, and those albums generated tens of millions of dollars. The business of music is brutal, to say the least...
  7. QUOTE (HigherWater @ Jul 24 2012, 08:58 PM) Good God! I've been away from the forum for about a week and it seems like in that time the haters have completely taken over! Why is Rush not aloud to write a song with a verse/chorus/bridge alignment (The Wreckers) or a song with a nice bouncy melody (Wish Them Well)? CA is a good if not great balanced record that the guys can be very proud of. I cannot believe that a Forum member would say, "I'd be embarrassed for Rush if they played that song on the radio." What a worthless, obnoxious thing to say. I'm sorry but seriously, as much as I hate Superconductor I would never say I was embarrassed for Rush. What embarrasses me are Rush fans that act like turds every time the guys try to give us something new. Like the new album, hate the new album-- Whatever. But don't for a second feel embarrassed for Rush-- They are a lot better than you! As if "the negative people" of this forum have "taken over"? Really?? I'd say the people who have negative things to say are in the minority, and also that this is a discussion forum and a very boring place if we all give positive reviews of ever damn thing Rush produces. Drama Queen is what I think of when I read crying posts like this...
  8. One of my favorites is "Exiles" off Larks'. Listen with a subwoofer. Sigh... a sonic delight!
  9. QUOTE (HowItIs @ Aug 10 2012, 05:40 AM) QUOTE (Tombstone Mountain @ Aug 9 2012, 08:44 AM) QUOTE You suck as a person LIX. very arrogant to say such a thing on an international forum. Really Tombstone Mountain? Saying that someone you don't even know "sucks as a person" is pretty effing arrogant. Seriously? Because he disagrees with you about something he sucks as a person? This sort of personal attack isn't looked upon kindly here. Maybe you owe him - and all of us who can actually carry on a civil conversation - an apology. Not that' I'll hold my breath. I could see being slightly offended maybe... But to attack someone like that was uncalled for, dude. Not cool. My Brazilian friends, I believe would understand what I'm saying. It was just a harmless comment. I mean, "Distracted" may have been better diction than "annoyed" but c'mon, man...
  10. QUOTE (Snowman @ Aug 10 2012, 01:55 AM) Production set aside; When Dream And Day Unite is my favourite DT album, closely followed by awake. Only 10 out of 10 songs! The same goes for I&W. When WDADU was their only album, not knowing if they'd ever come out with another one again, I cherished that album with all my heart actually. lol I'm a small time musician who's always had to pay for his own studio time, so for me the production on that album was actually pretty awesome. I really liked "Status Seeker" because Dominici sounded so much like Geddy in the beginning.
  11. I need a new discovery. Thanks for sharing! I get stuck listening to too much old music. Need to have balance...
  12. QUOTE (Hatchetaxe&saw @ Aug 9 2012, 06:56 AM) Despite my endless bitching about the current shenanigans, I'll always go for Yes. They bossed the '70's like a dominatrix on speed. Followed closely by PF & Genesis.
  13. I hate the fact I didn't vote for Crimson, but just had to go with Yes.
  14. QUOTE (USB Connector @ Aug 6 2012, 09:02 AM) QUOTE (losingit2k @ Aug 5 2012, 10:15 PM) QUOTE (nobodys hero @ Aug 5 2012, 03:09 PM) Ged said in an interview a while back that they tried it and it sounded bad and as much as the fans want to hear songs from that era if they don't like how it sounds they won't play them. I wouldn't mind a lot of the older stuff in a lower register so Ged could sing it, just so I could hear it again live. Yeah, bring it down two or three Keys. I don't really care what key they play it in. I would just like to hear it Live once. Oh god I can't picture FBN toned down to the key they use for 2112. It would take a bright and cheery song and turn it into something dark and dismal with a fast tempo. It works for 2112 because that's what the priests are. I agree. It would fly over like a lead zeppelin if they tried that. They already have enough "beer/bathroom tunes" as it is. Why not just lip sync the studio track like milla vanilla? (insert "dream weaver" clip here...)
  15. QUOTE (drbirdsong @ Aug 8 2012, 11:32 AM) It was mentioned before. Benoit David released a classy statement and it is obvious that Chris Squire is as big a boor as he always was, but I would say this to any singer that is not Jon Anderson: "You may be replaced at any moment so enjoy it while it lasts." Chris Squire has said that he would like Yes to make an album with Jon Davidson, but if he can work things out with Jon Anderson then Davidson will be a goner and probably learn about it from a third party like David did. It's what happens when a band becomes a corporation instead of friends. That's it. I read another interview where squire said he could tell david kept slipping up, basically that he was road-weary, so chris slowed down the Yes Truck just enough to push Benoir off and let Davison on. THere is also talk of jon anderson performing with yes on broadway.
  16. QUOTE (Xanadoood @ Aug 7 2012, 07:23 PM) One of the great composers of our time http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/08/arts/mus...dies-at-68.html RIP Marvin...
  17. QUOTE (Sheldon Cooper @ Jun 10 2011, 07:57 PM) Black Country Communion are releasing their second album early next week, and have begun a tour of the U.S. and Europe. I think there is enough to talk about to pull them out of the Joe Bonamassa thread and give them one of their own. There are a pleasantly surprising number of Bonamassa fans here in TRF. And for those of you who would appreciate his playing more if it was more rock oriented, and less blues oriented, Black Country Communion is that vehicle. For those who may not know, Black Country Communion are: Glenn Hughes - Vocals, Bass Joe Bonamassa - Guitars, Vocals Derek Sherinian - Keyboards Jason Bonham - Drums Band Member Profiles Damn, I always thought MP was their drummer. Jason's the man? Sweet! I've gotta check these guys out. Glenn is a badass singer. This is true...
