I've had a facination with Rush since I was 12. I "babysat" this kid in my neighborhood who was 9. I was into the typical crap of the time... Loverboy, REO Speedwagon, and other sundry shit. Then, this kid I was in charge of cranked out 2112. My first reaction was, "Turn it down, you nut!" About 2 minutes into it, I had this "Huh?" reaction. What's this???? This is the coolest thing I have ever heard in my life! Turn it up, you nut! I was fired from this babysitting job about a week later because the neighbors complained about the loud music. Go figure. I never looked back musically. Thank God that little kid saved me from worshipping Madonna and Britney Spears! I have my kids - ages 2, 6 and 8 - listening to YYZ, La Villa Strangiato, Passage to Bangkok and appreciating real mucianship. Neil Peart is an inspirational drummer, awesome and real, an unapprochable talent and a true gentleman, a poet and a bard. What a great person to have my children - and myself - strive to emulate.
