  1. Fountain of Lamneth is an amazing composition for such young musicians. I'm sure I'll catch heat for this, but --- I like it better than Hemispheres, 2112, or Clockwork Angels. It is my personal favorite among the concept pieces. The rest of CoS --- I like Lakeside (preferarbly the live version) -- and the rest of it I don't really listen to. But I can think of any number of recordings by other groups that shout "DRUGS!" much more loudly.
  2. I'm a Ric chick. I have a 4004 Cheyenne that I'm sure I'll own until I die. The jazz bass is generally a great bass, but everyone and their grandmother plays one. I feel the Ric and the Wal both suit Geddy's very distinct style better. I think Presto was the last record where his bass really sounds fantastic. At least on some of the tracks. I don't care for the production in general on RTB. (except maybe Heresy) And, I think, CP was the start of the Jazz, and a generally less spectacular bass tone. On Clockwork, it sounds like he (or the producer) was going for a more Ric like sound. But, still not the same. Oh --- *smacks forehead* I do know MP was recorded mostly with the Jazz! And it sounds phenomenal. But, I've never heard him duplicate that particular tone again. Too bad he can't get *that* sound live. But I'm sure it has much to do with how it was engineered/produced.
  3. I can appreciate the energy of it, and what Neil is expressing in the lyrics, but it's nowhere near top 5. In terms of heavy, contemporary sounding Rush, Peaceable Kingdom is my choice.
  4. I only play acoustic, and am no virtuoso -- but I love playing the opening to Entre Nous. And the ones from In the End, Something for Nothing, and Fly by Night.
  5. >on any marriage of decades Nor one as seemingly blessed as Neil's current one, I should have added. (Not that I'm opposed to the fantasy fun or whimsical wishes of others, you understand. ;))
  6. I really, really, can't stand the idea of being a dark spot on any marriage of decades. Particularly not in the case of someone I respect or like as a person. I wouldn't do it. BUT -- my crafty little brain works in funny ways. I'd pick Neil --- just because I think he'd be a terribly intriguing conversation (not that the other two wouldn't, but NP even more so). So I'd talk with him as long as I could string it out --- and THEN claim a headache, before it led elsewhere. Or, perhaps tell him "this is not a love song -- this isn't fantasy land." ;) Alex between like 1980 - to early 90s would take a strong act of will --- but still, no.
  7. The fawn-eyed girl with sun-browned legs Dances on the edge of his dream And her voice rings in his ears Like the music of the spheres
  8. Beyond all the music, such a lasting friendship that has weathered so many years is just touching to see.
  9. Actually, Neil has done the very same. He always wears a hat when he plays live, so we don't think about it. But you can find shots from the past decade where the varying amount and volume of his hair makes it plain. Alex has never seemed to like caps or hats. Which is the simplest solution. I mean the Edge from U2 has been balding since he was young, but no one ever talks about it, because he *always* has something on his head. Hey --- it happens! The vast bulk of men will lose some amount of hair as they age. Even Geddy's glorious mane isn't what it used to be. But, he had an advantage. He had A LOT more to begin with.
  10. Oh, c'mon crew! It is O'Malley's Break, for sure. ^_^ ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eANhgOdvTI )
