  1. If history has anything to say about this, things will stay the same. I will be seeing them in Columbus first show after the break. I hope to catch a set that has Natural Science and Jacob's Ladder in it, but I am expecting set A.
  2. The title track would have been a great addition to the flow of the first set. Dropping OLV, adding any other song off of VT, and adding TFE would have been incredible. Dropping another off of CA and adding something from Presto (Show Don't Tell) also fantastic. Truly, IMHO, the setlist is damn near perfect. The only thing I could say if it were up to me (in my own dream world :-) ) is three off of CA is too much when 4 other albums (TFE, Presto, PoW, and HF) are not being represented at all. I think limiting CA to two tunes, adding TFE, something where dancing rabbits could have made a stage appearance, and something, anything, off of HF and PoW would have perfected the R40 setlist into perhaps the greatest setlist ever in the history of the band.....that and they should keep NS in the second set permanently!
  3. Are you kidding or are you serious? If you are serious, he should have been escorted out. I don't pay a lot of money to go see a band to sit amid the smell of vomit from someone who thought getting drunk at a concert would enhance his experience. LOL. Really? Because I tend to find - particularly at indoor arenas - that avoiding the smell of vomit and/or urine is pretty much impossible. There's always somebody- a lot of somebodys, actually - who's ruining the show for the people immediately adjacent to them. :( One of the worst offenders? :) People who don't know how to STFU during the songs with their loud incessant cheering YEAH GEDDY YOU RULE NEIL ALEX YOU THE MAN AW YEAH....blah blah blah. For the record...it's okay to cheer and scream between songs. It's not okay to cheer and scream over the songs as they're being played. You'd think it was rocket science. Friggin' drunks. :) I think when they started selling alcoholic beverages at concerts it wasn't a good thing. I absolutely agree, though that's been around for the last few thousand years. :) Oh I know that. I just remember the days when there were there no concessions at concerts. If you wanted something to drink you had to bring it yourself and drink it outside. There was a lot more pot use in those days. Well, even in the old days, without booze concessions, the tailgating took care of that problem easily enough. I can safely say I've never attended a concert where some bozo or some madwoman wasn't gonzo wasted at some point and either making a damned fool of themselves or blowing it for their comrades. :)
  4. Poor Alex is having a lot of issues tonite......Wonder if knowing all of this is going out live to the world for instant recording and downloading has anything to do with it?????????
  5. I love coming to the TRF every day. It is a place where hopeful fans share a connection--one where we, like children months before Christmas, anticipate "surprises" of what is to come in hopefully what will not seem like too long of a waiting period in the near future. However, the writing is on the wall, already eluded to by the band and Ray Danniels, that "getting three 65 year olds on the road ever again seems unlikely. I don't know about you guys, but I feel very sad inside. This tour is certain to make us all feel better for a while. The deep cuts and the effort by this band to give us the best of what they have to give is an incredible gesture. These guys sure do care about us all to do such amazing things year after year, and that is why we all love them like like we do. I have never felt anything like I feel for Rush for any other band. An kind of weird analogy is it is beginning to feel like a dear friend is now expected to be dying......and the hollowness you know that will be coming in the not too distant future is beginning to settle in. I am beginning to feel sick about it. We love you Geddy, Alex, and Neil. You guys are the best of the best. Thanks for the big effort this tour. We all appreciate it and all of the work that you and all of your tour team has put forth every time in the past, but especially this time. It is easy to see how much thought you all put into making this "last hurrah" so unbelievably special. Can't wait to catch you all in Columbus. I will love coming here to visit with all of you after the tour, but I suspect we all might feel a bit differently afterwards....maybe like discovering that Santa isn't real after all, and the magic may be gone from the holiday forever. Our love we have for this band in our hearts I am sure will continue to stoke the fire that keeps this place alive with happiness and great posts...for a while. But we will, I believe, just feel somehow emptier, more hollow, sad not knowing what is to come; after all a 40 year relationship suddenly changing, will have to impact us all in some way. The ever changing soundtrack to my life, and many of all all here, is perhaps about to lose its primary writers---I don't think any other authors will ever be able to take their places. :Neil: :Alex: :geddy:
  6. I had hoped for CA then HF or go for Headlong Flight as the opener, then CA, but lose The Anarchist and later in the set hear TFE or even later Show Don't Tell. Three off of CA seems much. I even like the idea someone suggested regarding dropping Far Cry, but they like the Pyro and they like playing that song. But with the second set list/encore being perhaps the best lineup in their history of touring, how can anyone complain about anything?
  7. Justin, what is this recorded from???? Is is taken directly from the board?
  8. Man I wish they would drop The Anarchist and add Test 4 Echo...
  9. Yeah, if they do I Think I Am Going Bald, maybe they can follow the theme of changing out amps/props on stage as they go on and Alex can take off his hairpiece, put it back on, put on a long wig...etc...
  10. I thought Ged sounded great in Tulsa...at least thru Lucas's Periscope.
  11. Alex has had some excellent work done in front with hair plugs---years ago, to rebuild the front of his hair line and fill in all of the forward recession. These stay permanently as they are harvested from the very back of the scalp just above the lower posterior hairline. Then as many guys do, he eventually started to lose his hair on the crown of his head. It is much tougher to fix this area as there is less donor hair available. Here he wears a hairpiece to cover the 'bald spot' so to speak. It looks quite natural I think.
  12. My thoughts are that it may lull them into a mistake because of the droning nature of the song. Maybe? As a musician, I can tell you that Jacob's Ladder is one of the most difficult compositions that the Boys have ever written. The time signatures and unusual syncopation of Neil's bass drum and snare accents throughout a majority of the song make for a long bit of pure memorization and unfortunately a huge stretch of "f***ing up potential"...I remember hearing Alex talk about the time signature changes once, stating that the song was so difficult they had to essentially re-learn their own material, and that they just could not get Jacob's Ladder together for tours. I heard only a few barely audible goofs during both Lucas's and Bob's generous videos. The guys really pulled it off for us. What a great live song. And someone else earlier stated it was was the worst song on Permanent Waves. That is complete bullshit.
  13. Wonder how many people that will throw off.. lol How do you guys know this already??? Someone got a peak at the set. Except for the opening song swap (which he must not have noticed), he's been gotten everything right so far. Thanks!
  14. Wonder how many people that will throw off.. lol How do you guys know this already???
  15. I tend to rotate my top 3 albums regularly: Moving Pictures, Permanent Waves and Hemispheres. On any given day I might line them up in different orders, but they are the top 3 Rush albums.
  16. I saw it. There was The Trees, Time Stand Still and 2 others listed. yeah.....oh boy. FFS I hope they don't rotate the encore. I cannot remember the other two songs. Maybe it will be a second encore for real---after the first encore--on nights they have more energy left in their tanks.
  17. I think there will be two encores........maybe rotated with each other???? God I hope not!!!!!!!!!! I saw something yesterday after the show on setlist.fm where there was something listed called Encore 2 and a few songs including The Trees. There were 4 songs total there and for the life of me I cannot find the link in my history. I think it was accidentally posted and then taken down. Did anyone else see that??????
  18. Every time I hear Dog Years, I cry like a baby...I think, "why?" "WHY?" Neil penned those lyrics. Every time. http://dogbreedinfo.us/images/Dog.gif Seriously though, The Garden. I was front row during the CA tour, right in front of Geddy, and when they started singing that song, I could tell it was important to him because I could see it in his eyes. Neil looked very emotional as well. He was watching Geddy. Alex looked, well...full. Like he had had a lot food--maybe pasta, cheese and wine right before the show. Anyways, I was feeling the moment and couldn't hold back the tears. Incredible concert moment. Maybe one of my favorites out of all of the shows I have ever seen.
  19. Thanks! Can't believe I missed my own anniversary!
