  1. Well, he isn't going to sing every CA song on tour. Maybe a few... No red wine for YOU
  2. QUOTE (Flying Finn @ Jun 10 2012, 07:52 AM) QUOTE (SchemingDemon @ Jun 10 2012, 03:38 PM) I wonder how Geddy's going to play the piano part from The Garden live.. They will use samples is my guess. They will have to since Geddy isnt playing the piano, someone named Jason Sniderman is, per the liner notes.
  3. QUOTE (Bangster of Goats @ Jun 9 2012, 08:26 PM) Yup, I LOVE this song. Such a classic Rush song. The nod-to-PeW/MP/Signals parts, the Geddy bass riffage in the chorus, the textural elements (megaphone Geddy, the tasteful yet effective strings), Neil's tribal drum parts, the relentless feel of it (careful while driving while listening to this song, you might find yourself going 20 miles over the speed limit.) Guess I will be to the grocery store very early tomorrow
  4. I also believe it strikes the right balance between accessibility and being thought- provoking. I can see casual listeners and hard-core musicians feeling some sort of connection to this song.
  5. I felt this song one I paired it with the lyrics. Solid and pure.
  6. QUOTE (Slack jaw gaze @ Jun 9 2012, 06:46 PM) Outstanding. I've only listened to a few of these one time, so I can't say best yet. It would be a crime not to play this one live. That would drive me to anarchy. Live would be great!

    The Anarchist

So far, this is The One for me. Who else? The leading drums, initial bass notes, the "Bollywood" feel at points, and the ties to a mid-80s Signsls/ GUP sound at the breakdown before the lyrics. And last, but not least, for the Geddy gals, the vocals of the echoing bridge (" smiles and diamonds" part) are
  8. Ok, got the fan pack today. I admit I was streaming the album on YouTube where there was a link still up (was take down Friday after I had the browser open all week). Listening to the album through one headphone (my crappy computer pair is broken), it sounded good. Just good. I kept reading everyone's reactions, and knowing my lukewarm feelings towards caravan and BU2B...man, was I skeptical. Now I've heard it for REAL on my DVD player at home, alone, very loud, I am very pleased to say that Im coming around quickly. I don't think i have as strong of a reaction as I did to S&A, but I took that album in differently than CA. That said, here are my sketchy notes: - caravan and BU2B had some real nice improvements. - title track is the Armor and Sword of the abum. Meaning, for me, its going to take a bit to grow on me but i will come to fully appreciate. - Amarchist is my favorite so far of the whole album. The "lack their smiles and diamonds" lyrics out of Geddy are glorious. Yes, computerized and mixed, but this gal approves. Also, I am reminded of GUP on this song, which is awesome! - Carnies: "how I prayed just to get away..." is the best part, and fabulous - halo effect, really like this song. Simple lyrics but I personally relate, which may be why I am digging it - 7 cities sounds very old school rush to me with a new spin. -Wreckers. Ok, everyone is loving this song and it's very good to me, and I love the chorus, but it's not my favorite. This reminds me of when everyone went crazy for Earthshine on VT and i didn't, lol - headlong flight: I liked this as a single but I don't know if its the place on the album or what, or the fact I know the song more than the others that makes it seem a bit off... It's the lower half of liked songs for me - BU2B2: hey, I like this, it's haunting, different and the lyrics are married to the song well. Do the boys even play on it thought? Seems all strings with a Geddy solo! - wish the well: I actually really like this song, probably because, again I can personally relate to the lyrics. Classic Neil. - garden: is beautiful. Words lack me to describe this song
  9. Parts of Anarchist sound like as If they picked up from the cutting room flow of GUP. And I friggin love it.
  10. QUOTE (Barry @ Jun 9 2012, 04:30 PM) QUOTE (IEATZ28 @ Jun 9 2012, 12:16 PM)QUOTE (Barry @ Jun 8 2012, 10:28 PM) A local record store in my area began selling the CD yesterday, and I got my copy. I paid $16.99, but I supported a local shop and I got it 6 days early so I couldn't be happier! I've listened all the way through 3 so far, totally loving the album! Can you post some pics of the retail version? 11. QUOTE (Sin City @ Jun 9 2012, 04:08 PM) QUOTE (iluvgeddy05 @ Jun 9 2012, 02:25 PM) There is a ton of text on this side of the poster (the beige one, the boys picture on the back). Closer look reveals these are names. An even closer look has MY name on there! Is this all the people who bought the fan pack? Sorry for any cross postings. No. Only the egotists who ordered in enough time and wanted their name on the poster. Although in Tony R's case his ego was big enough for his name to go on even when he asked not to! Actually, the 132 page magazine sold me on the fan pack, not egotism... I forgot or missed the fact my name would be on any poster. P.S. The magazine is quite kick ass. P.P.S. I am expecting the keychain to break just like my VT and S&A ones did
  12. I'm with you on this, goob. I am still skipping the first two tracks upon multiple listens just to learn the new songs, but when I heard Caravan and BU2B on the album, cleaned and tidied up, they were a lot stronger and I was pleasantly surprised.
  13. I somehow missed that this was happening

Yeah, that's all of us that bought the fan pack How cool!

  19. QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ Jun 6 2012, 09:31 AM) I just received mine this morning...without any notice or warning. I ordered mine through myfavouritemagazines.co.uk, so if you did as well, you should hold up. It might be arriving there without notice! oooohhhhh
  20. My husband and I both loved it. He knows someone who is related to Hatfields, not too closely, but knows him. Husband said this guy is a little "off the wire" sometimes Bill Paxton should get an Emmy nod IMO. I didn't even know it was him until I saw his name in the credits, than found on IMDB who he played (Rand'l)
  21. QUOTE (Union 5-3992 @ Jun 4 2012, 05:31 PM) HOLY SWEET MOTHER OF **** Yes, and some makeup artist better get an Emmy for Layne's face alone. It made ME sick, even though it wasn't "real".
