  1. I didn't know about these "exclusive" shirts. At the two shows I've been to, was not close enough to even think about getting one. If I did though, I would wear, not sell it, but I would also not pay $400 for one either. When we were in Vegas near the end of 2011 I was tempted by a Rush signed guitar. I don't remember which hotel it was in, we walked through so many. It was $2,500 if I remember right. Not like I could afford it anyway.
  2. Yes it is. The rich get bored, and when you get older, i guess you don't mind looking foolish. Hell, look at Betty White, maybe she is a real inspiration to Rush now. There must be some money involved. Glittering prizes and endless compromises Shatter the illusion of integrity, yeah. Money involved? I'm sure there was, after all "10 bucks is 10 bucks" right? I just watched the show, it was recorded from last night. I had not seen this thread so it was a surprise to me. I also thought it was cool, especially when someone says that the Robin Sparkles started the grunge movement. One of they main characters says something like "Well he isn't a music guy." Then it cuts right to Geddy saying how the grunge movement started with Robin's song.
  3. I've never been much of a GnR fan, couple good songs as far as I'm concerned. Is this voting sort of like American Idol where they try to keep the bad singers in as long as possible? I saw an episode of Full Throttle Saloon where GnR was playing at one of the other big bars and the FTS people were worried they would not have a good crowd. Turns out the GnR show didn't start until after midnight because Axl didn't think there were enough people there yet. What a loser....
  4. you've been a fan since 1980 and this was your first Rush concert? How can this be? I would say I've also been a fan for about the same time, with Permanent Waves being my first purchase too. The first time I saw them was last year at Ridgefield. Just busy with family, business etc. I was in San Diego in about 1982 and they were playing there, but there were no good seats left, plus I was a little aprehensive, being a teen who just got a driver's license....I know, should have gone anyway!
  5. Someone told me that the MGM arena was modeled after Madison Square Garden and was supposed to have excellent sound. We saw the Eagles there last year and the sound was pretty good. I think the two bands played there about a week apart. If I could afford it, I would have gone there and stayed for both.
  6. I would agree that there are bands I am not particularly fond of but can appreciate anyway. Metallica would one of them. I didn't read the review; I should look it up to verify, but I believe it was Frank Zappa who said "Writing about music is like dancing about architecture."
  7. Some venues re-release seats that clubs didn't pay for right before the show. Last year, for the Time Machine tour, four of my buddies kept checking 'The Q's' (Cleveland venue's) available tickets online. They kept checking, and two days before the show, they happended, or lucked into, fourth row center seats for face value, which was about $92. The guys next to them paid almost a grand a seat. They also got some air time in the Time Machine DVD. I tried it this year, but since the show didn't sell out, no decent tickets showed up. I ended up getting my second row tickets through a broker. They weren't cheap, depending on what your definition of cheap is, but I got them the day before the show, and the price had dropped by half of what they were a week before the show. They were well worth every penny I paid for them, and I'd pay it again in a heartbeat to see them again. OK, thanks! I will keep all of that in mind.
  8. I was at that show in Ridgefield, but we were off to the left, almost in the last row of the covered area. Care to share any secrets on how to get better seats, or is it just timing?
  9. I guess these are more my personal favorites, The Garden and Wish Them Well. I suppose others are probably more fan favorites, hard to go wrong with any of them really. But those two came to mind first after seeing the show.
  10. They must not be too strict in Seattle, there were prtty good flames. I also wondered about the proximity to the string section. Is there a thread for the Seattle show, and if not, OK to start one?
  11. I mostly enjoyed the videos. They even inspired my screen name. I suppose they could be a little shorter, but since the guys are like 1,000 years old, they do need a break. :D Maybe it helps keep the fans entertained during said break.
  12. driventotheedge, I drove by that sign on the way to Key Arena and thought about that same photo. But we have an 8+ hour drive from where we live to Seattle, so I was just trying to get there when I saw that.
