  1. Too many to mention, and many still ring true 40 years later
  2. I have was drawn to the lyrics too but also loved the unusual time signatures
  3. I am not Lucas but I believe he was hampered on the CA lyrics by co authoring the book. Not only is writing lyrics very different from a novel he was having to stay true to a story while allowing each song to also stand on it's own. I would think he created CA in a completely different way than other lryics
  4. I always thought it would be awesome for a live show too!
  5. I am glad that Rush has such a diverse catalog of work. I can find something from every era that I like. Each decade has material that can suit specific moods I'm in. Yay for diversity in music. I don't know if I would have been such a long time fan if they had remained stuck in the '70 style. I think that I might like the music but they would not fire my imagination as the various phases have done, sometimes 'because' I didn't like the style they were using, kwim.
  6. Maybe it is a list that he found the most enjoyable to create
  7. More a teaser for the book Art of Rush I would think Oh, the almighty dollar at work again... :) Well I bought the book and really enjoy reading it, I had no idea the work that some of those covers took
  8. More a teaser for the book Art of Rush I would think
  9. Halfway touched on what I was thinking. They don't need a big production to play live. The second set of R40 proved that, stripped down and just playing live would be enough for me as a fan.
  10. Since I don't travel I really like Neil's books, gives me a glimpse of other places/cultures from a different perspective than your standard visitor.

    Driving with Rush

"But I can't sit still when I crank up my stereo in my car, so if people think I look stupid, oh well. I am just having a great time, I do it for stress relief after a lousy day at work and singing is therapy for me." This exactly, I really never thought about what people thought, and I have to play Rush loud...isn't it a law or something?'
  12. He has done that for many of the live shows I've seen in recent years.
  13. If Alex and Geddy toured live you know the fans would come out to hear Rush tunes. If they did it without Neil it would be a nostalgia band, and they have said many times they don't want that. There will be no NEW Rush music without Neil. Can and will Alex and Geddy make music and tour without Neil,, it is possible but I really don't think you will be hearing Rush tunes live if they do.
  14. How did I miss this thread before...I am crying it is so funny...love it.
  15. Neil doesn't need the band anymore. He's got his books. It wouldn't surprise me if we see him start dabbling in writing fiction before long. I agree that I think you will see fiction by Neil before too long. I actually think he would do a good job at it, I enjoyed Drumbeats, which I believe he co authored

    Rush Women

Maybe you didn't look hard enough for us. Looking at old concert photos from the '70s there were definitely women at shows. I wasn't because well, because I was only ten years old. The friend that introduced me to Rush is really the only Rush fan I knew growing up, even during the Tom Sawyer/Spirit of Radio heyday they were not really played much were I was. They are way more mainstream now than back then at least in my view.

    Rush Women

I think the bigger question is why are the majority of fans of "harder" music men, and not women? Maybe because in general, women are more sensitive/emotional, and as such are more likely to be drawn to love songs and music more of that nature. I'll bet a lot of these women who typically listen to softer music would see that they could enjoy more edgy stuff if they ever actually gave it a fair shake. The way I see it is though that Rush has always had sensitive stuff...maybe not 'love songs' but reflective stuff. Of course I was reading Tolkien when I heard Rush for the first time, so it fell right into what my thoughts were. These days I love the hard rocking stuff, and I don't know about the rest of you but for some reason I have to play Rush as loud as possible, it just needs to be loud enough to feel it, kwim?

    Rush Women

Maybe I should have just asked why YOU like Rush...man or woman...

    Rush Women

Eggplant exactly. I would expect it would be for the same reasons. However, I often get a surprised look from men when I say I like Rush, although I think that it is more common now for women to like Rush than back in the day. If you notice some of the women who answered also mentioned that the personality of the guys played into why they like them. I'm not sure that men like musical groups/artists because they are nice ;)

    Rush Women

Narps I was 10 when I first heard them, my family weren't into concerts, no money..etc....I think I got to see some good stuff when I finally did get to see them, just man the cost about kills me. I sometimes wonder if I would have been the only women there if I had managed to go to a live show back in the day?

    Rush Women

I became a fan in 1975 but didn't get out to see them live until 2004, for various reasons, I also did multiple shows and glad I have.
