  1. I avoided this forum and Facebook posts and managed to go to the Chicago show with my dd with no clue about the set list. When they finished songs from CA and moved onto "Far Cry" I leaned over to my dd and told her I thought they were going backwards. When they played "One Little Victory" after the "Main Monkey Business" that confirmed it for me. After the concert I learned about the three different set lists. We had set list C in Chicago. I could not believe I saw them play "Natural Science", "Jacob's Ladder" and "Xanadu" all in one evening. Still riding the wave of euphoria.
  2. 1982, heard Subdivisions and was hooked. Went to the local record store to buy Signals but they were sold out so I purchased Exit . . . Stage Left. I had heard many of the songs and liked them but never realized who Rush was. Been listening to them ever since. Love all their songs but Subdivisions is still my favorite; it just resonated with me at that time in my life.
  3. Maybe we will see you there! I am taking my little fan and was able to get nosebleed seats too! It's all we can afford but as long as we can go we don't care. We saw CA there - first concert for my dd. Are you familiar with the area? I decided to purchase parking because it will just be my daughter and me and I prefer not to be walking around that area in the dark after the concert. There are some rough areas near there. Plan to get there early. The city will be crazy that night. It is Friday, plus the first night of the Chicago Blues Festival will be going on in Grant Park that evening. I'm thinking we might look at eating somewhere on Halstead. Lots of great Greek restaurants there. Have a great time! My dd says "Hi!". ETA - We chose not to find out the setlist for the CA tour. I am old school that way . . . I like to be pleasantly surprised. We listened to a Rush album a day leading up to the concert so we plan to do that again. Have fun! One more thing . . . if you buy merchandise there at the venue, hold onto it for dear life. If you buy a shirt, put it on. Years ago a friend of mine had his concert shirt that he bought (and was not wearing) snatched as we were leaving the venue.
  4. Well, I don't blame her a bit. She was supposed to get Married that night. Unforetunately, Hubby is a RUSH fan. LOL! IMHO that would be a GREAT way to start a marriage!
  5. Agreed. My dd and I loved the concert in Chicago. Only (minor) dissapointment for me was not seeing that song. That song is one of my favorites.
  6. I became a Rush fan because of Subdivisions. I have all their albums and love all their music but that one song has a special place in my heart. Both my dd and I were thrilled when they opened with Subdivisions. Fitting, too, since it is the 30th anniversary of Signals.
  7. Thirteen, How was the concert? I hope your first Rush concert and your trip to The States was everything you hoped it would be and more! Please share!
  8. Pack it up and take it to the post office tomorrow if you can. Send it priority mail . . . Usually takes 2 working days. I sent mine from the Chicagoland area on a Friday am to GA and it arrived the following Monday. At least you could ask the post office if it would get there on Monday.
  9. Someone posted a while ago saying the Key Arena in Seattle accepts mail. Good luck!
  10. Thanks Aviateur55. And thank you to this forum for sharing all this information! I never would have thought to try this!
  11. It worked! Thanks! Sorry; the quality of the picture is not that great. http://i1355.photobucket.com/albums/q711/AdrianneinIL/IMG_3235.jpg
  12. I did upload my cover to Photobucket but I still can't figure out how to upload it here. If you have a minute could you explain how to do it? It can't be that hard but I can't figure it out . . . Thanks. ETA I did figure out how to make the picture my avatar . . . not the best picture but it will do.
  13. Just FYI I purchased an album farme from Target for $10.00. I put the signed album (which had normal wear and tear) in the frame along with a picture of my dd at the concert and her ticket stub. It looks great.
  14. I put my album cover in a large padded envelope I purchased from Staples sandwiched between two pieces of cardboard. I addressed it to Liam Birt who is apparently their tour manager and is with them and then c/o Rush and the name and address of the venue. Don't forget to include another padded, self addressed, stamped envelope for the return. Mine came back minus the cardboard but was not bent (fortunately). ETA I also sent it priority mail with delivery confirmation so I could track it. It arrived on a Monday and the concert was on a Thursday. Don't forget to add a note saying how you want it personalized.
  15. @ Aviateur55 I sent it to Verizon Wireless in GA. I hope you receive your item back soon . . .
  16. The mail just came and the Fly By Night cover I sent to have signed for my 12 year old daughter came back signed by all three. She cried when she opened the package and saw what it was. Really made both our day! Thank you RUSH! If anyone can help me figure out how to upload the picture I will do so. Thanks!
  17. Yes, my 12yod and I are hoping they come near Chicago again next year . . . I am thinking they may come to Milwaukee and we would go again!
  18. Sent my cover from Fly By Night to Atlanta hoping to get it signed for my 12yod. She saw her first concert in Chicago. Keeping my fingers crossed.
  19. Forgot to add there was a guy in the row in front of us wearing a baby who could not have been more than 6mos. old. Baby had a Starman onesie on and Dad was taking extra care . . . Baby also had protective ear covers on.
  20. I took my 12 yod to the Chicago show. You should have seen her face when they opened the set with one of her favorite songs. We both really enjoy the new album. She is still talking about the concert. Oh, and I deliberately selected aisle seats so she was seated on the aisle to minimize anyone handing her anything . . . just being a paranoid parent. :-)
  21. My 12 year old dd and I saw the show in Chicago. I told her that Rush tries to reproduce the studio sound in concert, but warned her that the guys are getting older and it might sound a little different. I was completely blown away. Geddy sounded GREAT in my opinion and we were both exhausted by the end of the evening. It was a true highlight for us both!
  22. Cool! When you call the venue what exactly do you ask? Do you just ask if they will accept mail on behalf of the Band? I want to send an album cover and see if they will sign it for my 12 year old daughter. She saw her first concert in Chicago on the 15th.

Subdivisions was the song that turned me onto Rush. The song really spoke to me. It was sold out at the record store so I had to "settle" for ESL. I moved back from there. I really enjoy all the albums.
  24. I am a long time Rush fan. I really enjoy all their material. I believe one of the reasons why they are still rocking is because they have made changes over the years. CA is not Xanadu or JL but it is just as good in it's own way. My dd and I have loved it from the beginning. Every single song is great IMHO. We listen to all Rush albums and we feel this is one of their best. We loved seeing it live and were ecstatic they played so many songs from the album.
