  1. On Ticketmaster you can select to have them available almost immediately, and they post a pdf option to your account which avoids the whole e-mail or waiting patiently the week before the show for the mail.
  2. I think Geddy still sings pretty damn good live. If he were to hand off the vocal duties to someone else, he probably couldn't play half the songs on bass without screwing them up since his playing is based on playing the bass and vocals simultaneously. One thing they could consider is getting like two female and one male multi-instrumentalists that could play violins and cellos on some songs (like CA songs and Losing It), and then switch to supporting vocal arrangements on some of the older material and even newer stuff. This could be pretty powerful and not take away anything from Geddy’s singing, only enhance it.
  3. ^^^^ Sorry about the font.... My computer was not cooperating during the original post.....
  4. Hello All! I've lurked around for years, been a member of other boards and signed up some time ago for TRF but I'm just getting around to my very first post! Love this place for news and lively discussion. As a young drummer I used to hack away at Rush songs as best as I could. Back then (way back then....), our high school brains didn’t need to hear much to feel like we were doing it. Any playing remotely similar to the original was “spot on”!!! Later on in college I picked up guitar as well, and one of my goals was to learn Limelight. I worked so fricking hard on that song that I would play it until my hand was about to fall off. The arpeggio fingering in the chorus was particularly difficult for me. Considering I was using self-taught technique, it probably wasn’t the best idea, but I learned it pretty close eventually. It taught me a valuable lesson that if you stick to something, even when you think at times that you’ll never be able to pull it off, you can actually accomplish the seemingly impossible! Yes, I definitely play the song in my own way, but it works for me! Being a drummer, guitar player, and bass sort of player (out of necessity – I use a pick… eeeeek!), I was eventually able come up with my own versions of Limelight, Digital Man and Open Secrets. I used these songs along with a few others from other bands to learn how to use my digital recorder. Anyway, happy to be on the board and looking forward to seeing Rush again soon!
  5. Welcome to you Dude111! You definitely have room for a few more Rush albums in your collection! H to O
  6. Thanks Dude111! I do like it here!
  7. Is that what was going on? Haha I was in the 5th row at that point and I saw Alex kinda bantering with some people in the front row and he threw them a pick, but I didn't know what exactly they were doing Yep, they were pretty surprised to look up after their romantic moment and see Alex staring them down and start mocking them, making kissy faces, hugs, etc.. in typical Alex fashion. The sustained opening chords to TS gave him plenty of time to have fun with it!!! Okay, it's my turn to rant about non-musical show aspects of the GR show I witnessed firsthand!! Actually, the two lovebirds in question were right in front of me in the 2nd row. WTF!! They were sitting for a good part of the of the show, kissing and making out for most of the show. When he went to get drinks, she just sat and was texting on her phone! You could clearly tell she was really bored and uninterested in any of the music. Why the hell did he drag her there in the first place with 2nd row tix? Of course, when they stood up when the favorites were played, they and their male friend blocked my great view of Alex and I was surely pissed! They needed to find a room real bad; she surely didn't pay $$$ for her tix...(other payment arrangements were surely in place). Alex was watching them, mocking them and I was laughing my ass off! I gave him the :boo hiss: sign and he just grinned. Alex twice threw picks at me, as I was rocking out, but they whizzed right by me as I was steaming angry at that point!! In addition to the lovebirds in front of me, some half drunk asshole decided to squeeze himself in between me and the guy standing next to me during intermission. He was screaming and clapping like a madman! He kept thanking Rush...really man, it that necessary??? WTF???? I tolerated it solely because I had a great seat/view in 3rd row and didn't want to start a fight with the moron and get thrown out myself! Never again...assholes beware!! :rage: Sorry you had to endure these two for the entire show rushfanforever!. I was in row 6 and didn't notice them until near the end of the show. I thought it was a "Tom Sawyer Moment", which would be endearing, but the entire show? Yuck!!! :) I had a drunken ass and his girlfriend next to me 6th row in Detroit once (DTE for R30), and besides being a slobbering mess, he liked to do the two finger dog wistle during every one of Alex's solos. 3/4 of the way through the first set, Alex noticed, whether it was because the wistle was distracting him, or he noticed the fans around this jerk getting really pissed off I don't know. Alex visibly spoke with a guy side stage and pointed him out. At the end of the first set security came and booted him and his girlfriend. So there can be justice after all! Yes, there are things you can't control, but it's certainly not to much to ask for those around you to be respectful to the artist and fellow attendees. I was lucky in GR and all of those immediately around me were nothing short of class acts, which fortunately is usually the case. Hope you enjoy your remaining shows!

  9. I thought the show was awesome! No real complaints about the sound, but agree that Alex could have been brought higher in the mix a little. I was 6th row in front of Alex. I appreciate that some of us would rather see Limelight get a rest, which they've done on this tour, but I was thrilled when the opening notes rang out and they played it. I missed this song on the two dates I saw last year. One of my favorites, so they can play it anytime! Funniest part of the show for me is when this guy and his girlfriend in the front row in front of Alex started kissing when Tom Sawyer started. Alex really got a kick out of it, and he messed with them for most of the first 1/4 of the song. Classic!!! Enjoyed the venue and surrounding restaurant district. Nice to park the car at the hotel and be done with it 'til morning! Also always enjoy the fellow fans met along the way. Rush fans are like no other! Feeling the pull of trying to sneak another show in while they are near... We'll see!!!
  10. Thanks Babycat and Chicken hawk! I'm glad to be back!
  11. Hello All, Returning member here. Love the board and have been lurking around for Rush info and spirited discussions for years. Opened my account last Sept, promptly lost my password, and have struggled to reset it ever since! Well, this time the reset e-mail came in, so here I am! Huge fan of the band and it's fine followers, and see them any chance I get. Glad to be aboard! H to O
