Every album has to be the perfect Rush album.” “The first record,” Alex Lifeson says about 2112, “where we sounded like Rush.” “2112 is, more than anything, a record about being Rush: loving music, moving it forward and taking it to the world, whatever the price. And it is perfect.” – David Fricke Originally released in 1976, Rush’s epic, landmark release 2112 was their creative and commercial breakthrough as well as one of the band’s most highly regarded releases among both fans and critics alike. With lyrics written by Neil Peart, and influenced by author Ayn Rand, 2112 kicks off with the ambitious seven-suite title track (side one), set in a futuristic world run by the “Priests of the Temples of Syrinx” who regulate “every single facet of every life,” which includes books, music, work and play. “2112” conveys the story of humanity’s instinctual, inner need for one’s free will. After the mythological journey through “2112,” side two brings you back to the present and continues with five stand-alone tracks. From hard-rocking tracks such as “A Passage to Bangkok,” “Lessons,” and a trip to into the fourth dimension with “The Twilight Zone,” to the album’s soaring conclusion, “Something For Nothing,” 2112 is the album that ushered in the next stage in their continuing evolution as artists.
  2. http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=420147 The link above to another tapers recording of Manchester is MUCH better sound quality than the recording in this thread, it has a lot more "in your face" sound, plus better high end and low end. It was just uploaded to dime today. Lots of positive comments in the thread, like this one.... "blackout at 2012-09-13 03:17:06 GMT Great recording! We've found the gem so far. Thank you very much for posting, I can't imagine anyone having a better version. Everything is nice, deep and clear."
  3. QUOTE (kentpilot @ Sep 9 2012, 07:34 AM) QUOTE (fansince1979 @ Sep 9 2012, 07:27 AM) Just to clarify, all I did was post a link to the audio of the show on dimeadozen, but I am not the taper. Carry on. OH thanks do you know who taped the show, was it a Rush forum member I really want to thank him I don't know if he's on here, but the person who put it on dime is the taper.
  4. Just to clarify, all I did was post a link to the audio of the show on dimeadozen, but I am not the taper. Carry on.
  5. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Sep 8 2012, 05:55 PM) Yeah, what they played was "old," but the problem is the very small window they selected the "old" songs from. Eleven songs, or roughly half the setlist, were songs from a nine-year period (1982-1991). And a nine-year period which most of us feel was the worst time in their long career! Put another way... let's eliminate the nine songs from the newest album and look at just the "older" songs they played. Of the 16 non-CA songs they played, eleven of them (almost 70%) were from 1982-1991! Seventy percent of the old songs were from the Keyboard Era! Meanwhile, long stretches (BETTER periods) of their career were completely ignored: nothing was played from FBN through Hemispheres, only one song from PeW, and nothing was played from CP, T4E, and VT. Agreed. I'm not particularly bummed out that I missed being at the show last night.
  6. Not video, but high quality audio - http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=419552 Rush Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester, NH 2012-09-07 (Friday, September 7, 2012) Opening night of the Clockwork Angels tour Hobbes source: AT933 hypercardioid (3-wire) > CA-9100 > Edirol R-09 (24/44.1) Section 108 row K Sound was ok. Bit muddy. Seemed to improve after the first few songs. Much clearer on the recording - could barely decipher Geddy at the show. Sat next to super fanboy, the world's loudest clapper. . . mostly between songs. . . and a guy on the other side that really loved the new album. . . The recording also suffers from an intermittent buzz/hum during the first couple of songs. Think it's limited to the spots noted. Not sure what happened. Sorry. . . Some deep cuts, most of the new album, the big hits. A little for everyone. . . Setlist courtesy of Rush is a Band blog, I'm too tired. . . Converted to 16 bit and fades added with Audacity, cut with cdwave, rest with TLH. Just noticed after I started uploading that I screwed up the trackmarking starting at Headlong Flight. I missed the split for Halo Effect so those two are in one track. Then I had a stray track mark between Spirit and the outro video. Sorry again. . . too freakin' late to be doing this :-) Set 1 01. Opening video 02. Subdivisions (buzz throughout first 1:15) 03. The Big Money (slight buzz 0:40 to 1:00) 04. Force 10 (slight buzz at 0:37) 05. Grand Designs 06. The Body Electric 07. Territories 08. The Analog Kid 09. Bravado 10. Where's My Thing > Drum solo 11. Far Cry Set 2 with string section 201. Opening video 202. Caravan 203. Clockwork Angels 204. The Anarchist 205. Carnies 206. The Wreckers 207. Headlong Flight > Halo Effect 208. Wish Them Well 209. The Garden 210. Technical glitch (no keyboards) - Alex's joke 211. Manhattan Project 212. Electric drum solo 213. Red Sector A 214. YYZ 215. Working Man Encore 216. Tom Sawyer (Alex botches solo) 217. The Spirit of Radio 218. bad track mark . . . 219. Outro video Some kind soul may like this recording enough to remaster. Please let me know if you intend to post it. Hope you can reduce the clapper. . .
  7. Regardless of tastes, it's unbalanced, career wise. 25 songs played, they have 19 studio albums, and 13 of 25 (more than 50%) are from 2 albums.
  8. QUOTE (Shreddy Lee @ Sep 7 2012, 07:32 PM) I can't wait to see the Youtube videos of this show. There better be someone there recording in good quality. Plus dimeadozen.org for high quality audio downloads with $1,000 mics.
  9. QUOTE (briremo @ Sep 1 2012, 10:05 PM) i thought it came out the day before the show... btw, following! Right, it was posted the day before, so if that happens again, we'll know the setlist on Thursday the 6th. All you have to do is search "setlist" on RIAB and it pulls it up.
  10. QUOTE (tommyali @ Sep 3 2012, 08:24 AM) I grew up with that poster! First my older brother had it. He won it at the dutchess county fair in the early '80's. Then it was on my wall through high school. It's a shot from the hemispheres tour. This brings back such great memories. Thank you!! Dutchess county fair.....right across the river from me. I as well had this poster in the late 70's / early 80's. I also had the 42x58 "super poster" from the same time frame.
