I love Rush. I'm proud of the boys for everything they've done. So many shows sold out, so many great albums. They've influenced so many great artists, and they've influenced me. I am sad that they'll be gone, but above all else I am thankful. But that doesn't mean I'm happy they've never been to my continent on any tours (I live in Australia). I hate that. But, the fact of the matter is I can still get all the live albums that they release anyway, and I guess that, even though it's not the same as seeing the boys live, is enough. The live music scene will lose a true legend at the conclusion of the R40 Tour, and I will be sad, though. I mourn their loss more than I do the fact that I never had the chance to see them myself. But to quote Segue Myles, it isn't worth their pain for my enjoyment. Neil and Alex have to play in a lot of pain this tour that I'm surprised they can still play some of the songs they've put together for this setlist, and it's admirable, remarkable, honourable, but unnecessary. Rush should play for themselves, not to prove anything or to feel like it's something they owe us. If anything, we owe them. We owe them for the memories we have of the band, some of which are preserved in the albums, some of which are merely pictures within our minds these days, but we owe them for it all. Goodbye to Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart and thanks for the ride. Though I joined the party late. I'm so glad I did. To quote the title of the fifth Studio album, this truly will be A Farewell To Kings.

I can. I know it was a rhetorical question, but I can tell you that there's a difference in the reggae section on all three. Geddy puts on some sort of accent in S&A Live, on CA Tour, He slightly changes the notes in the "for the words of the prophets..." line. Time Machine is probably the closest to the studio version as he just sings it normally without a note or accent change. And I agree with the rest of your comment, though I am happy that they do release the DVD/CD from each tour as I can't go to the shows. Having the DVD, fatigue or no, helps for me as I just want to see the best band in the world, which will sadly never be a dream fulfilled thanks to them pretty much retiring after R40

Kinda chose Anthem because playing it I used the chords anyways, so it was a bit of an easy transfer. Maybe,it's on my list to learn. Marathon or Mission would be great for this, I agree.

So, I've got an upcoming gig as an acoustic performer at an event about Resilience. I'm looking forward to the gig, and though I've got about three months I want to get some Setlist ideas now. Since the themd is resilience I was wondering if there's some good Rush songs related to the subject so I can have some great Rush on the setlist, even though many would argue it's not going to fit. I already know Subdivisions, Closer to the Heart, Anthem and Working Man, and I'm not sure if any of those would really go together here, with the exception of maybe Anthem. Give this young guy a hand?

Did they also play Rivendell? I don't believe hearing of that being played live. This makes me believe in what callmejim said earlier, he's probably quite confused between what he heard live and what he heard in the album. I understand Tobes of Hades, Didacts and Narpets and Bacchus Plateau being singled out from their overarching epic (though why Mecromancer wasn't broken I don't know), but the fact that he also listed Rivendell in what I believe may easily have been on the setlist in the Caress of Steel 'Down the Tubes' tour

Oh god.... I love everything about B except that it opens with Anarchist. Had we gone with the same CA tracks, I would absolutely take B no questions asked, but when I think about it...Wreckers doesn't seem to fit into that slot for the set, nor do I think it really fits into the set at all. To me, having CA, Anarchist and Headlong Flight right from the start was heaven for me. Having Camera Eye instead if Barchetta was grand, having a different selection off of Grace Under Pressure was divine, and it was absolutely amazing to see that they can still pull out a live premiere this long after the Initial Release. When's the last time they pulled something out from at least 10 years ago for the first time?

As I haven't got a tour book, I was wondering if you could maybe please explain what you mean but them having tour book ties? And also, how you figure with the others without them

So far I've seen one from Jaob's Ladder and one from Heart. Hope Cygnus or Hemispheres is up soon for me to watch

Man, I have never had the chance to see Rush. I wish that the 'fan event' tour that Geddy was talking about should really come to Australia so that we can get some of the awesomeness that so many others have seen. That is, if they tour again, which I really hope they do

I choose Subdivisons. I would have put in either Analog or Chemistry as an opener instead. I don't even agree with it being a great concert opener.

This was damn near impossible. I ended up voting for Natural Science, with Between the Wheels, Countdown, Cygnus, Everyday Glory, La Villa, The Garden and Vital Signs all very close contenders

Halo Effect. I just find that it's the most appealing of their love themed songs, and feels the most relevant in this day and age

Nicely done. Love the context and meaning of that song. Pretty much how I feel every time I watch a media pundit ranting and raving.... :) It comes in handy when you're still at high school. Everyone says really stupid things "Guitar Hero's better than a real guitar", "Who's Rush/Queen/Black Sabbath, etc." and it almost makes them need to put their hand over my fist to save their sorry hides, but then I think of these guys and I say "You know what, I feel sorry for you, I'm glad I'm not like you, goodbye". No need to provoke things further. Just turn your back and walk away!
