If you have yet to try hot honey it's killer.
Mike's hot honey is awesome. I love it on pizza. Or dry roasted or Spanish peanuts.

Gone are the days where beer companies would sponsor The Stones.
Indeed and they have always been shrewd businessmen.
It is funny that the sponsor who represents retired people is pimping those who are older than most of their members.

If I were to name one worst beer it's bud light. I found the controversy about it quite funny. I see more bud light cans littering the backroads than anything else.
Pretty sure we did this thread years ago and I defended the virtues of Genesee cream ale! Lol.
What about chafer aka schaefer?
Milwaukee beast?

The cheaper the beer, the colder it must be.
I like most beer styles except for scotch ales and top fermented beers like Chimay.

All malt liquor. I love my state but Lone Star beer is terrible.
Molson Brador is the king of malt liquors imo.

Have we ever done a worst beer thread?
I have a couple of nominations to start with. First is Steel Reserve. Probably the only beer I've known that smells like you can light it on fire. Kinda also reminds me of bad port wine. But, hey, it's hella cheap. What can you expect?
My dislike of German beer started with Steinlager. I bought a big bottle once to take to a barbecue. It was so skunky it smelled like someone let the air out of an old car tire. I ended up going back to the store for something else.
What's yours?
Steinlager sounds German but is brewed in New Zealand.

I was surprised to see how old he was when I first read about this. I knew he was older than the rest of the band but didn't know he had over 15 years on them. That would have put him at 38 around the time WDADU came out. That was probably one of the reasons he was let go. I never had an issue with his voice and think the album has some really strong songs on it.
RIP
Yep to all of the above.
May he RIP

Very sad. Played that first album into the ground for almost three years thinking it would be the only one. Was lucky enough to see Dream Theater open up for Marillion in '89 not knowing they were the opening band until I turned the corner and saw them on the marquee (Spelled wrong of course.)
His three solo album projects are very ambitious and they're good for what they are but the last two are a bit too "metal" for me.
Very nice guy too. Bought an autographed album flat when he was raising money for a move or a tour or something. Think he was also in Frankie and the Knockouts in the early '80s.
Old school.
I got into DT during the images and words era but did not hear wdadu until later. Would of been cool to have learned of them earlier.
Seeing them open for Morrilton? Sweet

Old flabby dudes doing Summer Nights, I can't keep watching this.
Why can't the old guard like Sammy and the Stones write and perform new songs, about having to get up in the middle of the night and other prostate issues?
Isn't that what finish what you started is about?

This is Dream Theater announcing their retirement without Dream Theater announcing their retirement. Was a lot more shocked a few days ago than I was in 2010. Don't much care about this one way or the other. Whatever works. Feel bad for Mangini (one of the good people.)
I was surprised when Charlie got fired, but understood after hearing him live. I was gutted when Kevin Moore left, but understood after hearing Chroma Key. I was over the moon when Derek got dumped and Jordan joined the band. Mike Mangini was the right drummer for the band in 2010 even though I'd have preferred Marco.
I'm hoping for something ground breaking but I probably shouldn't be. I doubt there's going to be a paradigm shift at this point. Portnoy probably adds another $50 to my next Dream Theater ticket. If they venture out of their comfort zone, it will be totally worth it.
Yeah, Kevin Moore leaving soon after me getting into DT was a bummer. Great talent. I like Derek and in particular ACOS. Dereks solo work is great as well. Jordan was a step up and I love LTE as much as early DT.
I am glad that Mike is back in the band. He was always my favorite member.

Another criminal omission. Terry Kath -- the player Jimi Hendrix thought was the best in the world at the time, and who fronted one of the most unique and popular bands of the '60s and '70s -- didn't make the list.
You'd think Kath and Frampton would be on RS' radar? I do give them credit for including Tosin Abasi at 99.
Two major omissions for sure.
Although animals as leaders never took off like I thought they would, they are still great.
I think the guys in Polyphia are the most best in the game for instrumental guitars at the moment.

And yeah, it's all about money. Give the fans what they want.
Hopefully Mike will take over setlist duties again. The varied setlist was set them apart from most bands.

Good. I always thought this would occur.
Portnoy and Petrucci have a very special chemistry imo. Better when combined together.
