  1. I get this question about this time of year from someone. Thanks for asking! First - P/G first concert ever! Every tour since then and loading up on HYF (2), Presto (2), RTB (2), Trails (2), Snakes (4) R30 (2) & CA (2). Illinois native - Milwaukee - several , Tampa (Snakes) & Austin (CA) I'd say 20 and expect to see Chicago or Milwaukee in the next couple of weeks.
  2. I'm looking forward to Milwaukee. I heard a rumor from RIAB that it's going to be during Summerfest. Hopefully not on Fireworks Day. The street was full of people who had way too much to drink and couldn't keep it down, if you know what I mean. As for Chicago, I'd like to see them at the UC again. I really think this show has to be indoors. The visuals are the best they've ever had. Can't wait for the DVD.
  3. They should have played Countdown on the Time Machine Tour, since POTUS dismantled NASA and mothballed the shuttles, whose first flight was the focus of this song. Would have been a nice way to say goodbye to that era in space exploration.
  4. QUOTE (The Mighty Dudad @ Sep 25 2012, 08:25 AM)So, it has been a week and a half since I spent 3 amazing hours with the best rock band in the world and 10,000 or so of my closest friends at the United Center. Everything about the show was fantastic. Great set list, the band was "en fuego", the crowd was loud and appreciative, the production was killer. ...so why am I in a post-concert funk?? Seems to happen to me everytime I see Rush. Actually, that's not quite true. It really has only been happening the last 10 years, since the Vapor Trails tour. Prior to that, I don't recall ever feeling down after seeing them. Yes, I realize that Rush is just a rock band, and that this as all a bit silly. That said, I've been a rock music fan since I was 11 or so...a good 37 years now. No band, NO BAND, has ever played a more significant and constant role in my life over all those years than Rush. My amateur psychologist wife says it's because at this stage of their career, I go into the concert thinking, subconsciously or not, that this may well be the last time I see them. While that feeling helps drive my anticipation and enjoyment of the concert itself, it also fuels the funk the follows. "That may have been the last time I ever see this band live" is a pretty powerful feeling. I'm sure she is absolutely correct (she usually is... ). Am I the only crazy person?
  5. I will say this, the fans at the Chicago show were way more into the CA songs than they were of the Snakes songs. I really think Rush should stop playing outdoors. They invest so much time in their awesome visual displays and to have to minimize them for 30% of the show is just sad, IMHO. The indoor show is spectacular! As for the setlist, I was concerned when I saw the setlist, but it was a nice big void that was filled, since I hadn't heard many of these songs for at least ten years. Sure, I could have used a couple of "ringers" in the setlist, but I'm content. They did finish at around 10:40-10:45, so they probably had time if they wanted to, to add a song or two.

    Rush on CD

I'd keep an eye out for the big box stores. I've seen 2112 in Best Buy for $ 5.99 and I'm sure a lot of the others can be had for a price near that. I'd try that first, since any online savings you find is going to be wasted by shipping costs.
  8. I think the set is good, only because I haven't heard most of the 80's songs since the 80's, aside from Force Ten, Big Money (once). It fills in the blanks, imo. Sure, I'd prefer other songs from the '80's albums (Kid Gloves, Weapon, Red Lenses, Emotion Detector instead of Red Sector A, Body Electric & whatever), but this'll do.
  9. I'll say that IMHO the standards are: Overture/Temples Spirit Of Radio Tom Sawyer Limelight YYZed Subdivisions I think Freewill is still on the fringe.
  10. This poster was part of the welcome kit that came with a subscription into the Rush Backstage Club. I had one. It came with a RBSC patch and one of the recent newsletters that Neil used to write. I can't remember what I still have, but I think the poster is gone.
  11. They should play Countdown (where's that vomiting person?) since Bam Bam shut down NASA and now they have to chop down 500 trees so they can move one of the shuttles to it's final resting place in tree-hugging California. How ironic. I'm sure there's a lyric that applies.
  12. Hi. I have a pair of tickets for the Chicago show and I'm trying to unload them for cost. Is it verboten to list them on TRF? Thanks. George
  13. In alphabetical order: 1) Test For Echo (kicked to the curb after only one tour. That's a first for the tour de force first track on the album, I must say). 2) Lessons 3) Vapor Trail 4) Beneath, Between, Behind 5) Something For Nothing 6) Alien Shore (my sleeper - turn it up to 11 during the guitar solo). 7) The Enemy Within 8) Here Again 9) Show Don't Tell (at least it made it through more than one tour) 10) Afterimage (Ten letters) No CA songs. It hasn't sunk in yet.
  14. I hope it's not Red Sector A, play something else off of that album. I dislike all of the electronic drum songs, including Mystic Rhythms because they never sound right - and then he payed The Trees on the electronics. Sounded like shiite, I mean crap.
  15. I care as much about Rush not being in the HOF as I care about ME not being in the HOF.
  16. I met Geddy when he did his Headache promotional tour at Rolling Stone Records in Chicago. He signed two items (NO GUITARS!!!! LOL!) I bought/brought the CD and had him sign the page from the RTB Tourbook with him in his dressing room with all the noses on stands. They're both framed in my office. I stuck out my hand to shake his hand (I think I was the only one who did), he shook it. I said, "Thanks, Dirk". He was really quiet. He did personalize both autographs to me. His "handler" was managing all of the signing & markers, etc. A great experience, considering I sat out in the freezing Chicago night for a good hour or so (this was back when cold meant cold). The Retrospective III posters that they gave away/sold with the CD (I'm not really sure how I got this one) - a limited number were signed by all three members and not personalized. To my chagrin, this is still framed and wrapped in paper waiting for a wall to have a vacancy. Geo
