  1. Thanks for proving my point guys! You did raise a great point with Rush in Rio though… Nat Sci is a great call, but definitely include YYZ as well!
  2. Interesting info, Snowdog. Thanks for sharing.
  3. I wouldn't necessarily try to "reel him in". Seems to me the important thing is to try to help him understand why Rush means what they mean to you, rather than try to persuade him into Rush fandom.. There are many HUGE Rush fans, who don't necessarily have the same favorite songs, so trying to guess which songs would be his favorites is impossible. Furthermore, if he were inclined to be a Rush fanatic, he probably already would be, or it will just happen naturally. So if I were you, I'd maybe pick out the song(s) that first introduced you to Rush and explain the circumstances that made them so meaningful (if applicable), or describe what you felt as you first discovered Rush. Also you should play some of your most favorite songs and explain why you like those songs so much. I think LedRush had a great idea with BTLS, but I wouldn't suggest viewing the whole thing. Maybe just pick out a couple of your favorite sections, or perhaps if you know he is a fan of any the band members featured, it would be a great idea to play that section(s) for him.
  4. I don't see how its any more out of his vocal range than 2112.
  5. What's his favorite band? He doesn't really listen to music (??!!) but he probably likes the Eagles the best. Unfortunately, I have to agree with The Dude here http://youtu.be/-JlmvtAHhnc Too funny! An image of The Dude instantly popped into my head as I was reading this. I have to admit though, that there are some Eagles songs that I like, i.e. Victim of Love, Those Shoes, Out on the Border, Life in the Fast Lane, In the City… and yes, I do like Hotel California too (including the mariachi version from the aforementioned movie! ).
  6. La Villa Strangiato Natural Science The Necromancer YYZed Xanadu By-Tor and the Snowdog Hemispheres Limelight Red Barchetta The Analog Kid The Main Monkey Business What You're Doing 2112 Lessons Circumstances Freewill Digital Man Cut to the Chase Beneath, Between & Behind Between the Wheels Leave That Thing Alone Cinderella Man Malignant Narcissism
  7. Definitely The Necromancer, but since Geddy has already shot that down like a duck in October, I'll go with By-Tor as my fallback - in it's entirety this time around though.
  8. I'm surprised at what I see here. Based on what I'm used to seeing on these forums on a regular basis, I was expecting to see lists more like this: The Garden Tai Shan Rivendell Panacea Bravado Resist Madrigal Tears Faithless Different Strings Available Light Mystic Rhythms Presto The Pass The Halo Effect Hand Over Fist Hope We Hold On
  9. I'm of the belief it's already been decided. I can't imagine they would let Alex sell a meet and greet for a future show for $14,000 (to charity of course) if it wasn't.
  10. Sigh…. still no announcement. I was really hoping it would come this weekend. :(
  11. You got your daily allotment of "likes" back I see.... Yes! Each new day a fresh batch is made available. But the amount of them is a secret known only to the mods apparently. ;) This reminds of the old commercial, with the owl trying figure out how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop… no one ever really knows!
  12. I think Open Secrets is a great song to use for trying out headphones. It covers a pretty complete range of highs and lows, and each instrument seems to "stand alone" more so than on other songs. I wouldn't use just one song though. I would also suggest something like Lessons which combines acoustic guitar with heavy chords and bass, maybe Didacts and Narpets to focus on crisp, clear drum sounds, and certainly include some of your favorites as well. Open Secrets is always one of the songs I use though.
  13. Hope this Thanksgiving Day finds you all with lots to give thanks for. Among many other things, I am thankful for the "friends" that I have here, and for the admins who who graciously provide this forum for us to discuss all things Rush! Have a great day, and enjoy a great meal today everyone!
  14. I like the way you think! Although I'd settle for a 12:32 re-recording of The Necromancer (to be featured on the upcoming tour, of course!)
  15. I can't find that on RIAB, but I just saw a Facebook post saying the same thing! Apparently it went for $14,000. I'm getting more and more excited by the minute!!! Click on the link I posted, and it's about halfway down, the the paragraph that begins "The 11th annual TJ Martell World Tour of Wine Dinner & Auction..." Ah yes… I didn't scroll down far enough. I didn't expect it to be down that far. I'm also surprised RIAB didn't make a bigger deal out of this, as it pretty much guarantees that Rush will be touring.

  17. It's not really a rumor, Alex did say something about them meeting with their manager..etc and discussing it, but it didn't sound like it was definite. I agree he's not the best source of reliable info. :D No…. this is something different. I am hearing from an acquaintance who was at the event, that a friend of hers who also was at the event, claims that Alex told him directly that they are touring in 2015 (not "maybe" or "we're talking"). I'm still of the mindset that I need to see it on Rush.com before I can be sure, but I'm much more optimistic now than i have been up to this point.
  18. Put some gas in your car Lorraine. I see a road trip in your future. ;)
  19. Rumor has it….. that Alex told a fan at a very recent charity event, that there WILL be a tour in 2015. I can only confirm this in terms of hearsay, but as of right now I'm officially saving up my money for a VIP ticket (or two). :Alex: :Neil: :geddy: :haz: :7up:
  20. Yeah, far from my favorite song, but it is the only Rush frame I could find. Well they don't just mail themselves out to unsuspecting Rush fans… just sayin'. Yeah I was going to say this. If you want one, order one. I love mine. Yes, Narpski should absolutely have a Rush tag.
  21. That's a good one, but I still prefer YYZ2112. Well, I FINALLY got my tag. It was supposed to take 4-6 weeks, but actually took 6 1/2 weeks. http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd499/FLY_IGGLES_FLY/YYZ2112a.jpg http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd499/FLY_IGGLES_FLY/YYZ2112b.jpg Looks great. :) Thanks! I am quite proud of it!

  23. Thank you Sundog, and everyone else who responded. I was apparently having issues with Photobucket which compounded my frustration. For some reason, i wasn't able to select the share links. I just went back to Photobucket today and I am able to select and copy them. Go figure… All that said, I still don't get why I have jump through these hoops just to get a simple image posted here. I don't get why I can't just link an image right from my desktop.
