  1. The last time there was a bear in this area it stayed around all summer because people kept feeding it. It trashed bird feeders, rummaged through garbage cans, and looked in windows.
  2. I need a factory reset for my broken brain. I don't care what the next poster needs.
  3. That's hardcore. If I didn't like something I just had to take one bite and give a look of disapproval. Job done.
  4. These are all some of the best. Cabbage: best in bubble and squeak (make sure to use gobs of lard) Parsnips: excellent roasted Rhubarb: nothing beats a good rhubarb pie
  5. Sometimes I'll read a post and chuckle to myself when I imagine what her response would be. If Lorraine saw this...
  6. They give tours at this plant as well, but I've never been there, and I wasn't near the 'official' entrance to the plant. The transmission lines from the plant cross the highway more than a mile away from this little dirt road. It's hard to say how close I was to the plant itself because the road is winding and passes through scrubby oak savanna. You'd think they would have gated the entrance to this spooky dirt road. Why allow people to drive back there if it just comes to a dead end!
  7. I explored a dirt road near a local nuclear power plant. It's open to the public, but after about half a mile a chain link fence appeared on either side of the road, and as I continued several gated 'side roads' appeared with rather ominous no trespassing signs on them. After I crested a small hill the road just came to a dead end. There was a small brick building with no windows and just enough room to turn around. I never saw another human being and got the feeling it was an area I shouldn't be snooping around. Weird. This is about 20 miles from home, and the dirt access road is visible from the highway. I always wondered what was back there. Needless to say I won't be going back, but it was interesting!
  8. Here's a few more people I wonder about. I don't think they're MIA, just moved on to other things. -H.P.L. -CygnusGal -Animate -Reflected Light (nobody remembers him!)
  9. After one of my cats passed away, I would wake up in the middle of the night and swear I saw him curled up, sleeping on the closet floor. The closet has two sets of folding doors, and I always kept one side open. I just dismissed it as being half-asleep, and also the room was only dimly lit with a nightlight. It could have been the play of light and shadow, combined with my imagination. It happened frequently enough that I eventually kept the closet door closed!
  10. Dissolution -The Pineapple Thief
  11. I want to know how long LG will keep supporting my phone.
  12. Of course not. He's known for being barefoot in public. He should regret wearing this shirt, though:
  13. I'm aware this will make me seem superstitious, but today I'm certain I smelled a whiff of 24 Faubourg by Hermes, which was my mother's favorite perfume. She passed away almost five years ago. This occurs only on rare occasion, maybe once or twice a year. It happened at the local library about a year ago, and when I told the person I was sitting with she said she didn't smell anything. I'm not religious, but it always gives me an eerie feeling.
  14. Good to hear. He was responsible for my member title.
  15. Nothing is new here underneath the sun.
  16. Many former regular posters only make appearances like periodic comets these days. People move on to other things. I often wonder what happened to Tombstone Mountain.
  17. Wouldn't much of the above material be more appropriate in SOCN? The last few pages read like a transcript from a holiday gathering. The last time I posted in this thread I merely wanted to bitch about shrink-wrapped Afrin bottles! Carry on.
