  1. Even in recent interviews it has been said that they still have the creative desire to continue to write music. whether that results in future full length albums is hard to say but my sense is they're not quite done. as for CA being the last tour, I find it even harder to believe that this would be the case but it's all going to come down to when Neil decides he's had enough. who knows when he will make that decision. I would be shocked if this tour wasn't followed up by an R40 tour. after that is anyone's guess. well written post, BTW.
  2. dtpoet my deepest condolences. this song has helped me to deal with the loss of family and friends, some of them gone for many years now and some who've left us recently. to hear how it helped you to deal with the coming passing of your brother is quite inspirational and your writing is magnificent. thank you so much for sharing your story and peace be with you and yours.
  3. I missed the TM tour (3 years of unemployment will do that). So when I finally got my hands on the Cleveland DVD and saw the live version of Caravan I was blown away (I had seen it on YT obviously but that's not the same as watching/listening through my home system). I love the rest of the album - I would even say there are better songs than Caravan on the album (define "better": it's ALL GOOD!!). Caravan will forever be the most important song on CA for me.
  4. QUOTE (Gedneil Alpeart @ Jul 5 2012, 08:19 AM)and that middle instrumental breakdown section is prog and just so. Yes!!!
  5. there I said it. Damn I love CA. music and a concept so complex, so full of differing interpretations of the story line. so full of kick ass tunes as only Rush can bring it. But Caravan starts the story and kicks some major middle tooth. Since getting to know the rest of the album, which I love so much, I still keep coming back to this raucous tune. I love it so much even though it's been so familiar to us all. I can't stop thinking big...without that line there is no CA.
  6. I've said it before here, this song will be a barn-burner live. this song IS an anthem (and I don't mean the "prior" anthem). the vocals are so soaring. fantastic!
  7. QUOTE (liddybuck01 @ Jun 21 2012, 10:35 PM)i have absolutely no idea what the story is in Clockwork Angels. i haven't read the lyrics at all, i don't know the story, don't know the symbols and what they mean, etc. anyone want to fill me in? or should i just say "screw it" and enjoy the tunes? liddybuck01, if you really want the story behind the story you can check out this thread: http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?showtopic=75115
  8. QUOTE (Jomboni @ Jun 18 2012, 02:55 PM)Apparently he's saying "I've got blisters on me fingers!" which is a weird thing to say before the song even starts, but it's the truth! maybe he got blisters from playing BU2B just before... ;^)
  9. I'm a guy and consider myself manly "enough". I LOVE Wish Them Well and the backing vocals. Just love it...
  10. QUOTE (Scottishdood @ Jun 20 2012, 12:13 PM) Is it me or is this thread like 4 weeks too late???? it's not too late because I just listened to the song.
  11. "Hey man, I would never trade tomorrow for today. Yea!" That is just SOOO old school. I freakin' love it!!
  12. QUOTE A Clockwork Universe is a universe that is controlled by the laws of physics and nothing more. The Watchmaker makes people believe that he is the controlling force behind the scenes. The anarchist (likely) finds out the truth and fights to expose him, but loses his sense of morality in his "extreme freedom". well put and I had not thought of it this way. I was still trying to understand the role and motivations of the Anarchist - this helps with that.
  13. QUOTE (jc4gd @ Jun 19 2012, 10:10 PM)QUOTE My guess is that it is the inaudible voice(s) of the Clockwork Angels. Yes, I assumed it was meant to be the angels voices, it was the words being sung that had me stumped!
  14. QUOTE (hunter @ Jun 19 2012, 05:04 PM)It's the opening verse and "to the angels high aboooooove." Oh and the very end of the song, before What do you lack, Geddy's chant is "Spiritual machinery." Reversed of course. Thanks Hunter
  15. QUOTE (hunter @ Jun 19 2012, 04:53 PM) QUOTE (Godeater2112 @ Jun 19 2012, 12:55 PM)QUOTE (andrew28 @ Jun 19 2012, 10:43 AM) It's only a matter of time before someone in this group isolates the chanting, runs it through Pro Tools and reverses it to figure out what he's saying. We are Rush fans after all. I already did that. RTFT. Yes. Nailed it. I really like that the very beginning of the song, the first 7 seconds or so is Geddy singing to the angels high above. Reversed. If this violates copyright feel free to delete mods but it's just the first few seconds reversed. ortni slegnA krowkcolC Thanks for this although I'll admit, I'm still not sure what he's saying.
  16. QUOTE (BrightAntennae @ Jun 19 2012, 12:10 PM) Geddy is asking for more cowbell. LOL!!
  17. dunno but I need an "I'm Owen Hardy" t-shirt to wear the show. Might need to make my own. Probably wouldn't be that hard to make your own CA facing to put on a wall clock.
  18. cracks me up when I hear (read) people suggest they wouldn't show up if inducted. Of course they would show up, they're Canadians after all! That would be the polite thing to do...
  19. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Jun 19 2012, 11:53 AM) QUOTE (Owen Hardy @ Jun 18 2012, 02:54 PM) QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Jun 18 2012, 02:32 PM)I would be very interested in your finding though. I don't know if it's backwards, it sound like choral chanting to me... Aren't there audio programs you can play stuff backwards in without needing the vinyl? It sounds like chanting for most of the early part, but from about :18 to :25 I feel like I'm hearing words. It starts with what you're calling "chanting," a sort of monks-in-a-monastery thing, and then I think it evolves into a sampled section of the song to come, albeit altered by audio effects. agreed, just wish I could figure out what's being said.
