  2. I dont miss CBS on Monday nights, they have such a great line up that night! Loved the Halloween episode this year too, had me cracking up laughing! Esp. the part at the end when their Mom walks in and the Satan girl freaks out!
  3. Hey! Asking me to pick One off of that list is like asking me which kid is my favorite! It aint gonna happen!
  4. Out of that list I cant pick so I will add this as one you left out. http://adorocinema.cidadeinternet.com.br/personalidades/atores/catherine-zeta-jones/catherine-zeta-jones04.jpg
  5. How can I add any movies to this list!! All of the best ones have been mentioned! Rivers Edge Salton Sea Heathers Blue Velvet Memento Clockwork Orange and so on! All brilliant films! Apocolypse Now Gothica, I really liked this one. Miniority Report, though it has Tom Cruise I did enjoy the premise. Usual Suspects Most of those movies are pretty Mainstream but worth the nod. I will have to think longer on this one because I love these types of movies and have seen many of them. Also I now have some new ones on my rental list.
  6. Flogging Molly is coming to town!!! Hoping to go see them!
  7. I was talking more of Lucious in the graveyard with LV. Where too was the scene that Harry told DD that Lucious, Crabbe and Goyle were DEs and were indeed there? Draco did have a smaller part to play in GOF so I understand his small part but to not have Harry tell DD that the others are indeed DEs was really off. The best part of the movie was the smaller comedic parts simply because the important dramatic parts left so much out. Snape, Sirius, Krum, Fleur and Cedric barely had more than a couple of lines and that too really bugged me.
  8. I finally saw it!!!! For as much as I loved it there was so much that was left out! The movie was just to rushed and that took away alot from the movie. Why wasnt this movie 3 1/2 hours to 4 hours long??? For crying out loud there was an aweful lot of important stuff left out, stuff that is crucial to the series! RF has not read the books and he said that he could tell there was too much left out, stuff he had to ask what really happened. This is really sad because the movie could have been so much better than it was. Graphics, animation, humor, Neville, Moaning Myrtle in the bathroom was all so good. What happened to the Graveyard scene?? Though it was good some very important dialogue was left out! RF had to ask me why Harry didnt say anything to Malfoy! The whole scene where LV talks about the missing DEs! I am just disappointed that it wasnt longer and time wasnt taking to make it greater than it is. Now with all that said I still really enjoyed it and I will watch it a billion times on dvd.
  9. I feel better but still havent seen it, I am going on Saturday!!!! My kid on the other hand went tonight and just got back from the movies ( he was on a date with his girlfriend and her parents chaperoned!). So he says, "ITS FREAKIN AWESOME!". Mom can I tell you this! is now all I am hearing! It was the best one yet, scariest one yet and blah blah blah, I am so jealous!
  10. I see all your points and I believe that we all agree. The industry is geared solely to money, if you look good you can sell. Its not about musicianship and furthering good music, again its all about the money. It is possible to find great bands but unfortunately you do have to find it. Those are the bands that have a bunch of albums out, been on the scene for years but exist because they have, like Rush, a loyal fan base. They just dont sell out arenas but the clubs are always full. A great example would be The Weakerthans. The music industry has changed what qualifies as good music. They are the promoters, they find the next big thing, its just unfortunate that many of these musicians, and those that arent even, continually let the industry do this because they are interested in the money. These bands want to make it big but dont realize that by doing so they are selling not only themselves out but music itself.
  11. Most of the time the best music isnt played on the radio, you have to look for it.
  12. Anyone watch the online clip? Hopefully its still up, love all the CSI's!
  13. I still havent gotten to see it yet! I am still sick as a dog! UGH!
  14. I cant go see it yet! I got strep throat!!!!!
  15. OK I reading a bunch of posts from people who went to the Midnight showing. This is what most are saying. The film seemed rushed and thats due to how long the book was and how much they left out. They didnt like how no one explained the Priori spell, that is pretty big. Didnt do a good enough job setting up OOTP. There wasnt enough emphasis placed on the relationship that Harry has with Sirius. Clearly set up that it is Ron/Hermione and that Harry and Hermione are good friends. They loved the Neville bits. Not enough Snape. The acting of the kids has gotten WAY better. The special effects were awesome. The graveyard scene is truly scary and the parents have been saying not to take your young kids to see it. Voldemort was fantastic as was Dubledore. The Riddle house is supposed to be a Muggle House and it looked to much like a Wizard House. All around most have been saying it was good but it doesnt follow along with the book well enough. Most of all what I have read most about is the Graveyard scene and just how scary it is.
  16. After the 7th book is over she plans on doing something completely different. The series is aimed to teens at this point more than anything and her use of language is because they are written from the standpoint of a 16yr English boy, that does make a huge difference. Maybe as time goes on we will see just how bad or good she is.
  17. RG, I am glad to hear that you have actually read a few of the books. The books do get better the more she writes. Let me just say though that I dont think she is the greatest writer ever but I do think she has the potential to become one of the Masters. I wasnt aware of just how in depth she has made the books until I started contributing to the message boards. Often in her books you have to find clues, she makes the reader have to really think. For instance something someone says in passing will be quite important later in the series and given you a huge clue but since it was just something completely said in passing you ignored it. She has done massive amounts of research into every aspect of the series to date. Besides the use of astronomy, astrology and history she has researched colors, animals and everything in between. Every main character was created for a specifc part of the story, from appearence, hair color, where they live, their past, their name, their birthday. The use of anagrams is quite fun too. Try delving beneath the surface as what may appear as one thing is actually another thing all together. Or wait until the last book comes out and read them all, I am sure the books will make much more sense and you'll have a better understanding of not only the books but of just how amazing the series is. I am not trying to get you to love the series but understand why it is that we love the series, the amount of research, thought, planning and complexity of it all.
  18. I totally agree Goob. The first book was very simple and a very easy read while each book since has become more and more complex. Its not all about the simplicity of the words but the complexity of the characters, which Rowling has done with quite alot of brilliance. This is much more than a story of boy wizard using magic to defeat an evil wizard. This story deals with pretty intense human problems. Child neglect, abuse, murder, torture, bullies and so much more. But it is also about love, compassion, loyalty, friendship, understanding, tolerance and again more. The storylines become more and more intertwined and much more mysterious with every book. Birthdays, names, dates are all connected with mythology, astronomy, astrology and history. Rowling manages to give the reader an in depth understanding of these characters. To me its much more of a story about being a human, she just managed to do it within the use of magic.
  19. Each to their own RG. Have you read all the books? Most people that I know who have the same thoughts as you have only read one book or none at all. The stigma of its popularity sometimes turns people off, I know it did for years for me. I hated the popularity and refused to read them because of it. This is a series of books and should such be taken as that. In order to get the complexity of them you have to read all the books.
  20. The scene where Moody turns Draco into a ferret is in there, just not sure how much of that scene is there. Oh and yes, the Ton-tongue toffee! That scene would have been hilarious! Believe it or not I have only read the books once! I use the Lexicon very frequently as it helps to keep dates, names, and places straight. Plus its all catergorized!
  21. The kids school had a family portrait fundraiser, here are my kiddos! From left to right: Casey 10, Ash 14, Mikey 8 (almost 9) and Les 15. Mikey would not stop giggling so in every one of the pics he has this cute goofy look. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v408/pixey/mybrood.jpg
  22. Ya but you know its coming! There are definately going to be things left out of GOF and things in the movie that were never in the book. Thats to be expected! I can tell you whats NOT going to be in the movie that was in the book. One scene in particular I was quite hoping to see wont be in the movie. The book is huge!

    Zathura

Your missing out on The Sandlot and The Goonies, classics in their own rights. I do prefer The Sandlot more than The Goonies though. I didnt care for Iron Man and The Incredibles was ok. Hercules was pretty funny and remains one of my favorite cartoons ever. There are some really good kids movies out there you just got to find the right ones. Go to the video store and pick up The Sandlot as I am sure its in the $1 section.
