I'm fairly certain they only played JL on the PermWave Tour. It has not been played since.
Neil's comment can be taken either way; (a) never going to fit or (
didnt fit this time. I'd like to think it didnt fit that time, but who knows, it may never fit. I'd like to see it close the first set.

There are songs we'd all like to see. I have to admit that I never thought they'd play Presto, but they did. However, there is a bit of reality that has to viewed as well. They can't play all of Signals if they are playing all or most of CA. If they play a more than usual amount if Signals, I just think Chemistry and Coundown are 7 & 8 on the list of choices.
As for the older ballads, I love Tears. Back in the predawn era of CDs, I spliced together what I called my "ballad trio" that consisted of Panacea, Tears, & Madrigal. I'd love to hear anyone of those. However, this still is a concert. Just because there are strings doesn't mean it has to be a quiet, gentler Rush on stage.
Sorry if it appeared I was hating on anyone (finally got to use that word. I can see my teenagers eyes rolling in disgust - lol)

Which is the precise point of a teaser. Lol.

QUOTE (dayglow76 @ Sep 3 2012, 09:02 PM)
Yeah the guy with PHOTO EVIDENCE always wins. Sorry. Geez why would you even argue?
Hermy thank you,I for one very much appreciate your efforts.QUOTE Because the picture is from the TMT and not CA...that's why.
Huh - I didn't realize the TMT had strings like the ones in hermy's first picture. My bad, BA. You must be right. I will yield to your expertise from now on.

I give up on trying to count how many of these I've done. LOL. It's fun trying to piece together the logic of making the list. We have some but little information. You also have to take into account time when keyboards are not needed and not needed. Anyway - having a blast so thanks!

QUOTE They will come and go quietly behind the other items like Neil does when he comes on stage.~hermy Ah - gave something away there, boss. "Come and go quietly" means leaving and returning. It's not much - LOL - but it suggests anyway that they will not make just a one time appearance - hence - all the string required songs at once.
-
QUOTE We all appreciate your condescending tone. However, in all reality, this is pure speculation on your part. Um - hermy is providing the pictures so I at least will have to give him crediblility that he knows what the hell he is talking about. These aren't pictures from old tours. These are from the rehearsals. Don't take it so personally.
Thanks, hermy for the pictures....

Sdhonda, I was no where my liner notes - so thanks for the update.
I agree with your assessment. Anarchist and Wreckers are given. I would think The Garden is for sure. Halo Effect - eh - is it to slow? It is brief so that's a "pro". I don't know about BU2B2. With some wild lights and by being brief, I can see it working.
So, that leaves at least 1 or 2 non-CA songs to be performed. So let's work within a range of either 1, 2, or 3 non-CA songs.
JMHO - I think the 4 likely candidates are -
(1) Losing It - it's never been played live, they will never get another opportunity to play it live if one assumes this string section is a one tour thing, it has string(s) throughout, and it's an anniversary for Signals.
(2) Jacob's Ladder - It hasn't been played since PW tour and I also I have seen on this site where Alex has mentioned it in the passed as a last cut.
(3) Manhattan Project - It has a long section of strings in the song.
(4) Closer to the Heart - They have done everything else to this song to keep it fresh for themselves. I have read comments from the members over the years about having to play the song but really a band favorite. This is an opportunity to make it fresh, different, and maybe even a little challenging.
JMHO - Out of the running - songs like Tears, Madrigal, etc.

[Ok - l take the 6 song info as gospel (I believe it). Let's use deductive reasoning. Let's eliminate the songs in CA that have strings(humor me); The Garden, The Wreckers, Carnies. Off the top of my head, that's the 3 I can think of. That leaves 3 other songs.
Let's get CA right first. Any more than those 3? We will also have to keep in mind that some songs may have mild strings so they may not require musicians on the stage as they can be triggered.
Let's get a consensus of the CA songs then later we can try to deduce what previously recorded songs will be likely. Let's not jump ahead. Thanks.
From CA, let's eliminate strings for Caravan, BU2B, SCOG, HF, WTW. That's 5. I guess there will be a debate as to whether The Pedlar I & II count as "songs".

I guess I can relate being an introvert of sorts myself. If you encounter an introvert regardless of who they are, you have to know going in that his/her instinct is to flee and avoid.
I have been involved with a large youth sport organization for well over 10 years. I guess you can say that I'm the "go to" guy for all information about it in our area. With that I just cringed at what I wrote but it's true. At meetings or at ball games, I'm out going, confident, accessible. When I see someone away from that setting, I'm avoiding, quiet, and hopeful that the coach, parent, or league admin will not recognize me and very relieved when they bypass.
I guess it's no different for them. In the pic above, I would say that geddy doesn't dislike you or is bothered by you. There's a little war inside his head where half is appreciative and glad to meet you while the other half is telling his body to get the hell out of there. It's not personal.
JMHO.

I love this song but ugh - the video. I can't belive I downloaded it. Promptly deleted. -
OMG - have we sunken to this - feet? Are we that desperate for information that we are seriously going to have a discussion about a man's feet? A violinist no less.
I feel so ashamed....

I do think it would funny if Alex came on here disguised as a regular and listed the actual setlist as his prediction. Then he would win the prize and we'd all be screwed.
Just saying...

QUOTE QUOTE QUOTE I think the only songs they'll do with strings are the songs that have strings in them to begin with. They're not gonna add strings to songs that didn't originally have them. This isn't the Symphony & Rush tour, it's still a regular rock tour like they've always done. QUOTE The only song I potentially see them adding strings to is Closer To The Heart. They have done everything else to this song including adding a jam at the end, alex playing the opening on an electric instead of an acoustic, etc. They might take the "risk" again with this song by adding strings to it. QUOTE great point and I agree. The band has all but said they're totally sick of playing this, but it's a stable that the casual fans really want, so adding some strings to it might make it much more interesting for Rush and appease the fans That's exactly what I'm thinking, LMTA. I have heard those statements as well. I would dare to say it was a factor to include strings on the tour in the first place. At some point a decision was in the balance. Naturally, you weigh the pros and cons. I think a CTTH arrangement with strings was enticing enough for them to add it to the pro list.
What songs do we know so far???

Stick to writing....
Learn your history before making comments. That side of the record was recorded during the PermWave Tour. Google the ESL setlist and then get back to me, ok?
