  1. Is there going to be a live "song by song" report thread from the Tulsa show?

email me your cell number to jhill@richeyzink.com and I will give you a song by song personal update dude!!!

    Just post them here.

    We will be waiting. :)

Well, here's the problem. I have an iPhone 5. so I have battery problems. I'm not going to sit there for 3 hours eating up 4G posting songs. I just posted my email to this board. if you want to take a chance and send me your cell, I won't betray another Rush fan. We're all Rush Geeks here, so you'll just have to trust me. But I'm legit. Swear. Or you can wait to see what someone else posts. eventually you'll find out. I don't mind sending out some texts though

Send you my cell? If I had one, I would, but I don't, so I will just have to sit here and wait patiently until a kind soul tells us what is going on in Tulsa.

Thank you just the same for the offer!

Can't you text to an email?

  2. Rush fans are impossible to please, it seems. I'd guess only 1% of the audience even knows about this board, and even fewer that want The Necromancer over, say, Dreamline. Don't forget, they're a business first - they have to sell tickets, and playing I Think I'm Going Bald ain't gonna please 95% of the audience. It's a tough balance I'm sure.

    Hey I resent that!!

Your right, but giving your fans what they want would be real nice. Remember, when they cashed it all in on 2112, when it was all or nothing, going out with a bang, doing it they're way, despite when the record company executives wanted (they wanted radio music. A hit), it was the older fan base that bought that record and saved they're careers. It was the over 50's who said "yes" to the birth of the greatest prog-rock band ever. So yea, FREAKIN PLAY SOME AFWTK AND / OR SOME HEMISPHERES.

Yeah but it was us then young teens who found them in the 80's composing music similar but so strikingly different than what our peers were trying to coerce us into liking whether it be hair bands or punk. WE Carried them through P/G, PowerWindows, and Hold Your Fire. We sustained the momentum when some of the first responders abandoned ship.

We had our tour the last time. You are getting yours this time with an entire set of Moving Pictures and prior to. Enjoy the moment.

  3. And yet, when Rush is done, you can all still complain. Not really a big deal for me. I'll just go and enjoy them while they're here. I don't see the point in complaining. Yeah, you can call people fanboys, but do you think the band is sitting around a computer, taking all of your suggestions to heart? Maybe I am a fanboy, but if you think they're going to change the setlist because of the same moaning and complaining after 10 years, then that's delusional on your part. And that's worse than being a dedicated fan any day of the week.

I think some of you truly think Rush will magically come on here someday and say, "You know what? We should play The Necromancer and Anthem every night! Why did we not ever think of that?!"

Absolutely ridiculous behaviour. It's actually laughable. I feel badly for some of you that you can't simply enjoy it while it lasts.

    Agreed

  4. I just had a thought...what if Neil has TWO kits for this tour...one for the first half of the show, setup like the ones he has been using for the last 20 years...and then THIS one, for the second half of the show?? Maybe half of the show is going to be a full-blown "Blast from the Past"-themed set???

    Hmmm...

You need to get out more. Lol. If you want applies, read some of threads.

    Whatever THAT means...

Lol. Damn iphone autocorrect. It was suppose to say "if you want spoilers".

There have numerous threads this week about the Tour Book info. Months ago, it was leaked that there will be the replica kit (chromey) and that it would be used for the latter part of the show. Then the tour book info confirmed a blueprint for the show where Signals to present would be first set and MP prior would be the 2nd set. This confirmed the earlier leak about the drum kit.

  5. Of course Tombstone Mountain is happy about the setlist, after all he's a deluded CA fanboy :P

I don't believe the setlist is real though. Camera Eye again? Hemispheres AND Cygnus X-1? Nah... In general there are too many epics in there for it to be legit.

Also GeminiRising79 is absolutely right. Having standards and not praising Rush for everything they do is not in any way whining. Try harder, fanboys...

Oh it's real. Straight from the official tour book.

  8. There's a difference between having high standards and being realistic. For some of us, the reality is that these guys are in their sixties, have physical limitations to various degrees, and not be as emotionally involved with being a touring musician as they were 10 or even 5 years ago.

I can relate to a degree.

I've been involved with baseball since I was 8. For 39 years, I have been a player, manager, & a league official. This season, for the first time in 18 years, I'm not coaching. I just don't have that passion I feel one should possess to be the best one can be. I took on an administrative role on the district level after 17 years as a league official because I just didn't feel the need to it any more.

The point is, I couldn't perform those roles to my own expectations any more so I dropped one and transitioned into something else. I still love the game, as much as I did when I was 8. However, the way I love has changed. I want to take time to do other things; take walks with my wife, play with our puppy, focus on my almost adult children as they make this transition.

    Priorities change.

  9. Why should having high standards and expectations (outside of Geds physical limitation) be considered as whining? Many of u are like dogs happy to get any scrap thrown ur way and Rush takes advantage of this fact. U guys in turn are partially responsible for the compromised, schit setlists settled on over the past 10 yrs.

Totally Assinine comment---Oh wait, what would one expect from an ASS ? :smash:

I'm an ass for not having bottom-level standards? Sorry, but w/o having individuals with the highest of standards Rush would have disappeared into obscurity after their debut album.

    You're a hero.....

  10. Ok...went for my work out at my gym, and had the R30 live show in my iPod and my brain started working (for once) Here are my thoughts on what we have seen so far....

Seeing this "set list" as you are calling it threw some old stuff and some new stuff out in the open...with the John Good revelation and the pic of Neil's "retro-kit" I think I have an idea how this show will work...

Seeing that the retro-kit is more synonymous with the OLDER stuff, and John Good said that it would be used in the second half of the show, I think that you won't hear anything older than the Power Windows album (which was pretty much when he started modifying his kit...I know he started HyF with it, and started messing with things mid-tour) Since they did some PW and HyF stuff last tour..I think they're done with it...SO First half of the show will be stuff that was from that "period" until the CA music...and the CA music will be the rotators, (as will be the stuff from the first half of the show) I think you will only see the post PW-HyF kinds of stuff, and the show looks like any old Rush show from the past 10 years... Geddy has some sort of "thing" where his amps should be, and Alex has something, and Neil plays his current kit. Then they take their intermission and the crew starts their thing...

Seeing some of the "films", I'm thinking that the beginning of the second set starts with the "Stage re-creations" film as they come back on stage, then the "R40 Screen Animations" play while they do the "R40 Overture" I also think that since it appears they are marketing this as "when this incarnation of the band got together, i.e. Neil's arrival" you won't see anything from "Rush" and you will only hear FbN forward through Grace Under Pressure the second set....with the film "Exit Stage Left" being the encore having tunes that we all loved from THAT album...(Xanadu, etc.)

Just a hunch, but with the clues that we have, this might work....

Good theory BUT your biggest clue is the tour credits which for the most part, as seen by the tour credits in the last 2 tour books, RUNS IN ORDER AS IT IS LISTED. CA had a few changes but TM ran exactly as listed,

Your best bet is to start there...

Then if THAT'S the case, then they're walking out and playing Clockwork Angels, and ending with 2112  Looks like the listing in the book is in reverse order of release....

There are plenty of slots unknown. My theory is that 2112 will likely end the 2nd set because there are two video credits listed after 2112 (one for between the 2nd set and encore and the other for after the show). If this is the case, then there are two schools of thought; (A) the encore will consist of songs from the first 3 or 4 albums, most likely in a medley OR (B) the encore will be used to showcase songs from all the decades.

  11. Guys, I am certainly holding out hope for some gems, and there is plenty to like in the projected list.

To me, I'm not knocking the songs projected to be picked, but what was missing at CA, and missing "so far" at R41. Also, numerical analysis is fun for me. I got a numbers problemo.

What would constitute a "gem" in your opinion?

Cut to the Chase, to pick a newer song. Wouldn't mind hearing Different Strings once. I'd ask for a down tuned something for nothing, but I know the realists would be all over that for vocal reasons. Sing it baritone, its awesome either way.

Great poll about which are the most likely omitted songs CMS. I think its dt hitting me with his PC ;), but looking at your poll... the missing songs could very well be tour regulars like LVS or LL. Great tunes, but...LVS is the holy grail, so can't say nada aboot that. Would love to hear the Sphere tho, there's another gem...

Sorry, I couldnt get the damn thing to reboot to a normal screen....

  12. Just had a WILD thought.

IF 2112 ends the 2nd set AND

    The set stays chronological THEN

    The encore has to open with;

    (A) something else from 2112 (PTB?) OR

    (B) something from COS

So, if it is COS, WHAT IF the 2nd set opens, to start a medley, with Alex strumming the opening to FOL? After that they can break into other songs from COS, FBN, and RUSH ending with In The Mood.

If this happens, I think we have found the crown jewel of gems so many seek.....

  13. In the Mood- No chance. IMO

    Why not?

If they're thinking chronological then ITM makes perfect sense since it was their closing song for many years.

The answer to that ? Is if you think 2112 closed the 2nd set or is the encore

Betcha 16 cents that 2112 closes the 2nd set ;)

Those two video credits at after 2112 make me nervous....

  16. Funny, I just looked at Stub Hub for NJ and the seating chart looks different from the one on ticketmaster. On stub hub the stage looks pushed back a bit. Wonder which one is correct?

I noticed the same thing. That's critical to my position. I remember sitting up first row mezzanine at the old Richfield Colosieum on Alex's side for HYF and it was a great view! I'm hoping this 114 presents the same.

  17. I have sat for shows where those seats are open at the Rock in Newark. 100% clear line of sight. Grab them bro.

I got my section 114 seats cheap compared to what they are listing for now. They are seats 19 & 20 so they are the furtherst from side stage in that row. Hope line off sight is good

  18. yeah, I just checked NJ as well and saw section 17. It looks like that is a "side view section" as it's shaded in grey. Anyone ever sit here? I am going to Philly but am considering going to NJ as well and taking the 2 hour trip.

    I haven't sat there but I have section 114 row 2 seats so I hope they're good!

  19. More proof that some people are only happy when they're miserable.

Y'all don't even know what the complete setlist is or how songs may be rotated on a nightly basis and already you've come to a rock solid conclusion in regards to your opinion of this show.

Why don'cha wait a whopping 72 hours before you pass judgement on something that hasn't even been fully revealed.

It's a very large sample size.

It's disappointing due to the multitude of repeats but I'll still enjoy it. Especially if it's the full Cygnus, full Jacobs and full Prelude, with no xanaconductor or far cry break in nonsense. Cut into RTB or OLV instead. The classics are rare at a Rush show, why ruin the few played with these cut outs from classic to the modern so so tunes

Don't recall anyone saying they're miserable, for those passing judgement Snaked, just fans gaining false expectation based on what the band has said to expect from the list.

It's not the bands fault if your expectations or your interpretations were not realistic. This is actually more than I could expect and the full list isn't out yet. Not every fan saw S&A or TM.

  20. Where do you get that there are plenty of tickets in NJ? Where are you numbers coming from? I'm calling BS. I'd like to see that report.

The three most inexpensive price tiers are sold out.
