  1. I will say I like Only By the Night the best, but yeah, Come Around Sundown is excellent.
  2. If it were not Aerosmith’s farewell tour and the bill was vice versa (Crowes headlining), I would go to this. But I looked at tickets, like $400 apiece for midway up in a basketball arena. Seats on the floor were twice as much. So that’s a pass, for me. But let me know how it is, please! I hope you have a great time. :)
  3. I just returned from holiday, from last weekend to last night. Thanks so much, ducky!
  4. I imagine wherever she is, she is smiling, and free of the sickness that took her- maybe having a rueful laugh and missing us, too. She was quite a presence here. Oh, and one other thing- she’s definitely listening to Steely Dan right now.
  5. Vitoria Suite- Wynton Marsalis
  6. I don’t really like it either, but hey, I don’t matter. It’s not like it’s going to stop me from buying it and devouring everything that Geddy has to say. I am really looking forward to it.
  7. And here I thought this thread would be about the Devendra Banhart song.
  8. Six Pieces of Silver- Horace Silver
  9. I haven’t tried too many different things of this ilk, but the few that I have tried, as far as their being ‘flavored’ is concerned, I always found those flavors underwhelming. So the OP here doesn’t encourage me to continue trying anything else new. 😂
  10. You know what’s funny is I got a piece of mail from them, and they got my last name completely wrong 😂 First name and middle initial were correct, but last name was something else entirely. I have not yet contacted them to see if they will correct it, haha.
  11. Thank you all! I can’t tell you how it made me smile to see this, as I haven’t been around on a regular basis for many moons. So, seriously, honestly- thank you.
  12. A few new things, just in the past month or so: Martin 1-23, from the mid-1850s. Adi spruce top and rare flat-sawn Brazilian rosewood on the back and sides. The 23 was not a style of its own, per se, but rather just a guitar that was made and sold at a wholesale cost of $23. According to company records there were exactly six of these made- all between 1853 and 1857. Next, a Martin Signature Series Ian Anderson 0-28, from 2004- number 72 of a total of 87 produced. 2015 Fender Telecaster ‘Limited Edition’ (in quotes because there really isn’t anything limited about it), in butterscotch blonde. Ash body with maple neck.
  13. Coming up: Jethro Tull- 20th August Martin Barre- 28th October
  14. As much as I read, I had never read any of Neil’s books, and I started doing that several weeks ago. It’s fun, and also cathartic. For the past week or two, I have been taking a break from it. But reading so much from his own mind is very comforting, in a way. Always positive, always looking forward.
  15. Oh yeah, I understand that. It was going to be either this or a Strat. My stepfather has a 1968 ES-335, also, if I want to play that one. And another Les Paul, from about 1990. But I wanted my own.
  16. It is a great album. I just started digging into old VH again at the end of the Thanksgiving weekend and I haven’t spun this one anew yet. But I’m looking forward to it.
  17. Yes- being my first foray into electric playing, I really didn’t feel like I needed to go for Humbuckers right off the bat. Just starting to get my feet wet, and the P-90s are really sweet.
  18. I am doing fine, thank you my friend! I hope everything is well with you too.
  19. Past few days: Van Halen- S/T Van Halen- Fair Warning Tesla- Mechanical Resonance Rush- Power Windows Traffic- John Barleycorn Must Die Jethro Tull- Benefit
  20. Several classic thrash songs here- primal, golden-era thrash. It’s interesting to me to think about how early it was in their trajectory. Wall to wall great album. I do have issues with the production values, specifically with how the drums sound, and the way they were recorded. But it’s miles and miles better on that front than Killing is My Business.
