Alex had his balls snipped by Geddy's keyboards. -
Official doom/stoner/sludge/southern/drone metal thread
thirteen replied to Texas King's topic in Music Of The Spheres
Oh man all this doom brings back so many great memories as a young doom-metal fanatic. Here's my favourite doom album: Cathedral - The Ethereal Mirror I no longer follow the genre, but back in the day there were some great bands; Cathedral, Candle Mass, Trouble, Paradise, My Dying Bride etc. -

Like I was saying earlier, lead guitar is divided into 2 eras: BYJM (Before Yngwie J. Malmsteen) and AYJM (After Yngwie J. Malmsteen). -

70's or 80's??? I can't decide tbh. I divide lead guitar into two different eras: BYJM (Before Yngwie J. Malmsteen) & AYJM (After Yngwie J. Malmsteen). -
One of Rush's finest moments. Truly powerful.

You know what....I think you may be right. Alex's work in the "sythn" years really captivated me as a young guitarist. IMO Alex was the arpeggio master back in those days.
-
IMO the last guitar hero was Slash. Solid player. Great songs. And known by the general public, not just guitar nerds.

Apart from All the World's a Stage, Rush live DVD's and albums have never truly captured what it's like to experience the power of Rush live. For anyone that never got to see them live, my sincere condolences. Rush live were better than you could have ever imagined.

The Rush Forum GOD OF ROCK VOCALS Mega Poll - THE FINAL
thirteen replied to Lucas's topic in Music Of The Spheres
As great as Dio and Halford are, IMO they are first and foremost metal vocalists. As such I'm very pleased that best Rock vocalists went to Mr Mercury. -

Voted for Ian ‘Child, in Time’ Gillan. -
As soon as Rush announced R40 I thought...this is the beginning of the End. Better start saving my cash to fly half way around the world (Australia to USA). Thanks to Odin that I did. MGM Grand Las Vegas. Greatest Concert Ever.

 Gillian's vocals on the Born Again album are phenomenal. His vocals on the chorus of the song Born Again?, oh man they give me goose bumps!
