  1. My cat's breath smells like cat food.
  2. That's one of the better covers I've heard of a Rush song. I tend to prefer new takes on covered material. Thanks for the link, greyfriar.
  3. It's actually quite beautiful. Though if I saw one sitting on a river bank, I would give it a very wide berth. I really the rhyme to its name.
  4. I agree. His latest album is wonderful - his best in years, I think. Sir Paul Hey CG. Hope all has been well with you. I like New too, but I think McCartney has actually been on a roll with solo albums since the late 90s and Flaming Pie to be honest. Hey Rick :) :hi: Yes, I liked The Fireman quite a bit but his latest reminds me more of his 70s material (my favorite McCartney solo era). Things are well and summer's been good - could the weather be any better? Off to Maine for a two week vacation in about ten days :yay: You?

  6. That's very sweet of her. My mother bought me Hemispheres for Christmas in '82. That album is special to me for that reason and I think of her whenever I hear it. It also rocks! :haz: :)
  7. Don't forget the adorableness that is a baby tapir: http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01431/Tapir_1431170i.jpg (I can't believe I just started reading this thread. A little late to the party :( ) I think its the best thread on TRF. SWS does a yeoman's job, I learn a lot, the comments are great and the pictures are invariably cute or utterly terrifying.
  8. I choose spy. It was a tough choice. What do I win?
  9. I don't mind Feedback. It is interesting to hear their take on well known songs. They still sound like Rush. I don't think they are better than the originals (how could anyone do a better version of For What It's Worth). But, I've never heard a cover of a Rush song that was better than the original either.
  10. Cygnus X-1 all the way. My favorite Rush song. :haz:
  11. Moody Blues - Long Distance Voyager was the first album I bought with my own money. The first album I got as a gift was a K-Tel album with Kung Fu Fighting and Beach Baby. The first album I remember hearing is Deep Purple - Machine Head - I was mesmerized with that album :haz: . :)
  12. That's a cool set of pics! All those babies! So they really do hang upside down (see one of the Ice Age movies) :P And those teeth! :o and they're friendly with cats. :)
  13. Oooo...like a bird...that would want to eat me. Did Spielberg kill one of those on safari too? ;)
  14. Very well done. :ebert: A nice homage to their early days and a touching reference to John. :(
  15. Neil and Geddy both play so much better on La Villa. I mean...that f***ing hi hat is crazy, and Geddy's bass solo! We get a drum solo on YYZ ( at least on ESL). Geddy's little be-bop solo on La Villa is awesome :haz: but I like his riff and groove better on YYZ.
  16. Alex on LA Villa, but Geddy and Neil on YYZ. YYZ for me. Its more concise. I can get a very strong dose of Rush in a short (relatively) shot. This has always been a tough choice for me.
  17. is the pride of purpose in the unrewarding job
  18. Spot on, goose. I could not have stated it better. ETA: I voted MP. CA displaced it for a bit, but Moving Pictures has regained its rightful place.
  19. I know it was from a tour program in the 90s - I'd have to look at my programs to see which one - I want to say TFE. They show pictures from the previous tour, but I can't recall if he played his Ric on CP tour for the Hemispheres section they played - too long ago and my memory is less ... er ... eidetic than it used to be. :codger: Yes, I understand about the memory. At the age of sixty, my memory has kind of taken a nose-dive as well. My immediate recall is a thing of the past. Now, it can take hours for something I used to be able to instantaneously recall to surface in the brain. I just found the photo. It is in the p/g tour book which means Signals tour photo. :o Well, I only missed that by about 10 years, and I do remember him playing his Ric on that tour - so at least the brain is somewhat intact. :sigh: I'm amazed by how well I think I remember things and then I get proven wrong. Kinda like a game of telephone...after it goes around the circle a few times, it bears little resemblance to its original state.
