  1. I seen them on Sept 30th at the Nassau coliseum when I was 16 when they toured in my area on Long Island. It was one on the best shows I can recall seeing back in the day. Why so short, I dont know but they played so much from my favorite albums. Seen them eveytime they are in the area since.
  2. I'm thinking GUP at this point even though I enjoyed their music after this point.
  3. I give a thumbs up on the strings. It added a nice mix to some of the classics. I'm glad they did not over do it, it was just enough.
  4. My wife and I were there in section 15, lower bowl. The sound IMHO was perfect from there. Ged sounded great and was right on target as far as I'm concerned. Overall the band was excellant. We also sat with some nice people on both sides of us. It's not to often you can hang with a lot of people and get into some deep discussions about your favorite band.
  5. One of the better songs on the CD imho. I also like Caravan, The Anarchist, The Garden, and The Wreckers.
  6. My top three. Distant early warning, Afterimage, and Red sector A.
  7. QUOTE (thirtytwolettercharacterusername @ Jul 9 2012, 12:13 AM) yeah maybe i mean snakes and arrows took a few listens i dont know i guess i just prefer keyboard music in general i guess Try this. Play entire CD on Ipod while reading the book at the same time every other day or so.
  8. Bottom line for me. CA is better written and Geds voice was on the money.
  9. I just purchased tickets in the lower bowl at the Barclays Center, section 15. Seemed like a good deal to me.
  10. QUOTE (furie @ Apr 29 2012, 06:25 PM) Section 115 for the Barclay's Center, Brooklyn, NY I'm sitting in section 15 row 20 at the Barclays center.
  11. Just bought my tickets last night for the Barclay Center in Brooklyn. I will be sitting in the lower bowl. Gives me something to look forward to.
  12. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Apr 26 2012, 07:50 PM) Definitely. I'm always listening to new bands and Headlong Flight is something I'd listen to if Rush didn't exist. Agreed, It's the type of music I always liked anyway, but because it's Rush it makes it so much better.
  13. QUOTE (Echoes @ Apr 20 2012, 08:13 PM) They definitely sound like they're not done anytime soon and have plenty of rocket sauce left in the tank. Agreed, and also the fact they love what they do.
  14. Welcome to the fourm Melissa. It's nice to see new people here and sharing their views.
  15. Great review Owl, I enjoyed reading the opinions of everyone thoughts on this album. In short, Side 1 has always been epic and is in a class all by itself. Something For Nothing IMHO was the strongest song on side 2 with Bagkok and Twilight not too far behind. I always enjoyed the guitar in lessons, I love the tempo of that song. I agree with Owl that Tears did show the wide range the band was capable off.

    Rush Tattoos

http://i.imgur.com/KrCrg.jpg I have posted this before elsewhere on the fourm, but here's mine that I'm proud I got on 2-1-12. The lighting in the room is not so good.
  17. QUOTE (The Owl @ Feb 23 2012, 08:52 PM) Going through some computer issues right now, gonna TRY and get the 2112 review out tomorrow. I'm looking forward to yours and anyone else's views, being this is my favorite album.
  18. QUOTE (Presto-a RUSH fan! @ Feb 24 2012, 10:36 PM) QUOTE (Bastille Dave @ Feb 24 2012, 06:21 PM) QUOTE (Capt starman @ Feb 24 2012, 05:07 PM) QUOTE (The Owl @ Feb 23 2012, 09:07 PM) I guess it was easy for me because I was working while listening. I don't get the chance to do it often, but when I can, I take advantage of it. I'm reading that alot of people here are kinda giving you crap about this and sayin' they could never hear all of those Rush albums in a row. I say you go for it man!! I too get to listen to my iPod at work sometimes for hours in a row and I love listening to entire catalogs of bands, especially Rush. I don't mind people saying they couldn't listen to RUSH all day, that is their opinion and it's valid, but it does get annoying when people give a new member shyt for being excited about RUSH. This is a RUSH forum for the love of God! Thanks for all the replies. Doing this gave me a chance to capture the many transitions the band went through over the years. The changes they made in themselves and to their music over the past decades.
  19. QUOTE (The Owl @ Feb 23 2012, 09:07 PM) I admit, I also think there is a limit, no matter the band..... I tried a Rush road trip once, had a 14 hour drive from Middle Tennessee to Victoria Texas..decided to listen too all the albums in order along the way (and damn near made it, started S&A, but didn't make it halfway through)... even though I trudged through, I was worn out on it by the time I hit the 90s. I guess it was easy for me because I was working while listening. I don't get the chance to do it often, but when I can, I take advantage of it.
  20. QUOTE (1 of the 7 @ Feb 23 2012, 10:43 PM) QUOTE (Godot @ Feb 23 2012, 09:34 PM) Interesting.... The debut album is missing. As is Power Windows... and GUP, RTB, TFE, and Feedback. Capt starman, do you not like those albums, or are those the ones you're listening to tomorrow? I do like thoses albums a lot, just not enough time in the day. I was trying to blend in enough play time to span their whole career. So today was the missing albums plus some of my favorites like 2112, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures.
  21. The Time Machine tour was my favorite out of the list. You can't beat the whole album. Snakes& Arrows 2nd leg was also very good.
  22. So I finally get my Ipod set up the way I want it and had it all planned out to play Rush all day long on the job. Being in the construction field it makes it easy. So I set up the Ipod in the Dewalt radio aux. while I wire this house. Here was the set list for today.Plan on finishing it up tomorrow. About mid-day a carpenter ask me if I was a Rush fan No kidding. 1- Fly by Night 2- Caress of Steel 3- 2112 (my favorite) 4- A Farewell to Kings 5- Hemispheres (2nd favorite) 6- Permanet Waves 7- Moving Pictures 8- Signals 9- Hold Your Fire 10-Presto 11-Counterparts 12-Vapor Trails 13-Snakes & Arrows
  23. The heavier the better as far as I'm concerned.

    Singles..?

I've been hearing a lot of Rush on the radio recently so I'm hoping that we are being primed for some new material. Still keeping a lot out on the horizon.
  25. QUOTE (Echoes @ Feb 20 2012, 01:44 AM) Damn straight! People don't realize how much dedication Rush has to it's live show and how spoiled we really are. Classic rock bands nowadays and even younger modern bands play short sets, with 2-3 opening bands on the bill. 13-16 songs. Can you imagine if Rush played a set that short? No seriously. Imagine it. DO IT. Great post, could not have said it better. I don't know to many people that can say their favorite band is still touring and producing new material. They have been my number 1 band since the early 80's. I consider myself lucky that they are still around.
