  1. Let's look at a song like "Subdivisions". In the more recent live videos....it's definitely not Alex saying "SUBDIVISIONS" ....it's not even Geddy (it's actually the late Mark Daly from CityTV Toronto News). It just looks a bit weird when Alex gets behind the mic and lip syncs SUBDIVISIONS in a low, ominous voice. In earlier days, he used to "try" and say it himself. It didn't sound as good, but it looked a little more authentic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPiNc2lGuxQ
  2. Okay....I've been a Rush fan since Fly By Night and I love everything about their music. Being a musician myself, it's hard not to be influenced by their masterful playing. But one thing that bothers me when I see them live (since the Hold Your Fire era) is when Alex sings "back-up vocals" when they're obviously Geddy's sample tracks. I realize that the complexity of Rush's music calls for the use of triggers and samples for their live shows but it hurts to watch Alex lip sync to Geddy's voice. Is Alex just triggering a sample by doing this? Is Alex singing along with the mic turned down? I've seen instances where you could actually hear Alex's voice but for the most part, you can't. I'm surprised that this subject doesn't come up more often in discussions. I'd like to hear some other opinions on this.....
  3. Live, when he tosses that stick 30 ft in the air and catches it......that is cooooooooool!!!
  4. Thanks very much what, you want to do some kareoke? :)
  5. 1. Definitely his ride bell pattern used on Spirit of Radio, La Villa, YYZ. Taylor Hawkins of the Foos has claimed to rip this lick off for the FF song "Rope" 2. His two quick concert tom bursts on 2112 Overture 3. His quick open high-hat accents on songs like Making Memories (2112) and the beginning of Cygnus-X1 4. Fills that use groupings of 4 quick strokes on each tom (first fill in the middle of YYZ) 5. 8 stroke-4 stroke-8 stroke-4 stroke roll (Fly by Night, and just before the vocal on Temples of Syrinx ) 6. Alternating ride and china cymbal pattern (Subdivisions, Chemistry) 7. Cowbell pattern on almost all his solos 8. Oriental cowbell jingle (ATWAS solo, Passage to Bankok) 9. The waltz pattern in his solos (boring but respected) 10. This list can go on and on..........
  6. A project that involved YouTube musicians from Canada, USA and South America. Each musician recorded their own instrument track at home and corresponded thru e-mail to create this video. I played drums and was responsible for the production of the video. Tell me what ya think! Hope you enjoy it!
