  1. QUOTE Not unless there are some sheltered Rush "fans" sitting around that thought the band stopped working together after Moving Pictures, and that this was a big 'comeback'. You would be surprised how many people I run into who are shocked or surprised when I tell them I am going to see Rush in concert ("They're still together??") and buying their new album ("They still make albums??"). Of course, that's from the handful of people who even know who they are. And I am talking about adults over 30.
  2. QUOTE Dream: Remastered Vapor Trails Great minds... And yes, I would love that Test for Echo tour footage as well!
  3. As I did with Caravan/BU2B, I will listen to it heavily within the first week of release, but then I will move it further down on my list of things to listen to constantly and just let it sort of pop up on its own when shuffling through my Rush on the iPod. I don't want to burn out on it, but unlike songs by many artists, I have to give new Rush a few listens to get the feel of it. Helps me to form an opinion. Then I will tuck it away, only listen when it comes up on shuffle, and then I can sort of hear it afresh. But I know that probably a week or so before the release of CA I will not listen at all to HF, BU2B or Caravan, so I can go in fresh on the album. I want to sit and hear it from front to back.
  4. QUOTE A packet of edible Geddy In-n-Out "screw" Counterparts panties. A full stock of 5 Roll the Bones-era Geddy glasses. A extra large hamper of Alex Lifeson Victor cream cakes. A live dalmatian in the act of pissing on a fire hydrant (hydrant not included). A huge Fly By Night stuffed owl that hoots if you squeeze the belly. A pink jello and black liquorice logo with cocaine ingrained background. A Necromancer voice disguise unit - designed to give you the voice of the Necromancer. A Snakes & Arrows dartboard with a free gift mini-metronome to measure the tempo of the album. A Farewell to Kings miniature, cardboard foldout demolished building and soft toy marionette. A Red Barchetta pen. A blow-up Permanent Waves doll (deluxe version with real holes not included) A Ghost Rider face-saddening sour chewing gum pack with tear goggles and foam shoulder to cry on. A Hemispheres naked male puppet with bowler hat to cover extremities. A stash of Feedback packaged LSD. For the first time full set of Neil's Cure for Insomnia travel books: "Read em and Sleep" A crate of enraged genuinely monochrome Presto rabbits. A Geddy Lee I've got a Headache toenail painting set with toy headache pills and hairnet Three packs of three red rubber Hold Your Fire contraceptives that glow in the dark when juggled. An Exit Stage Left theatre dolls house with Alex, Geddy and Neil porcelain figurines. A working Grace Under Pressure android which can be adapted for sexual intercourse A patented Test for Echo elastic and polymer dog with real hair that you can kick each time you hear Dog Years. An authentic "power window" that fires real bolts of electricity at your neighbours each time you close the curtains. A fully realised Clockwork Caravan toy with real Carnies inside and including a free pack of freaks, including Alex Bearded Lady, Geddy Dog Boy and Neil Two Dicks A pack of three 2112 emblazoned skateboards, plus secret stash of Bangkok opium An All the World's a Stage bubble bath toy boat music box with wind-up key, plays Bastille Day (live) A Planet of the Apes life-size crashed spaceship and foldout 3D lake with real fish, apes not included Okay, firstly -- that was epic. Second -- what if it came with the long-rumored but doubtful-to-be-seen remix of Vapor Trails? A "making of" though ... that would be pretty dang awesome! Along with the lyric video of "Headlong Flight" and maybe videos of other songs?
  5. QUOTE I-Tunes first thing tomorrow, then I will burn it to a CD with Caravan and BU2B and throw another 7-8 tunes on there. I did the same thing for listening around the house! But I also have it on my iPod for the car.
  6. QUOTE That was so awful it was great
  7. QUOTE Lots of E minor in Rush history This is such a minor issue.
  8. QUOTE And to have good sounding version.. a price almost free A prize every time!
  9. I can't get this damned thing out of my head - listened to it three times last night, once with headphones, and then again on the way into work this morning ... Awesome!
  10. Neil is gonna replace his trademark hat with a diaper. Geddy is gonna start lip synching the whole show. Alex is gonna start hitting golf balls into the audience during Neil's solo. And an oldie: Snakes and Arrows is gonna be like Hemispheres, only better!
  11. QUOTE If it sounds like TMMB, then I'll love it for sure.

    This is cool

QUOTE First releases aren't always a case for a strong album, i.e. S&A => Far Cry. FIXED.
  13. QUOTE I'm still in a state of shock and must have listened to HF around 20 times now. Having now been a fan for 25 years I have to say this is the best thing they have done in decades. To me it touches on all the aspects of their sound that made me a fan in the first place, complex and a challenging listen but at the same time it has hooks that non musicians can appreciate. Alex has re-discovered his 70's style and Peart is playing like a man half his age. Bass wise Geddy is killing it and had me reaching for my Geddy Lee Jazz bass as soon as I got in last night to cop his licks once more. Vocally he nigh on gets into shriek mode and his holding of the sustained note near the close of the track gives me chills in the same way Freewill's "Each of us..." lyric still does every time I hear it. And a huge tip of the hat has to go to producer Nick for encouraging them to embrace their past while pushing them foward, A bonafide classic, this is truly what we have craved so long from our favourite three men of Willowdale.
  14. I live in Birmingham so Atlanta has been my city of choice for Rush shows over the years, so it looks like I will be there again. On the Time Machine Tour my wife and I hit Atlanta and then Nashville, which was a first for me. I am hoping they hit Nashville on a 2nd leg next spring. But for now, she and I are Hotlanta bound! I just cant believe they are doing an outside venue in November. There is a potential for colder weather. Just doesn't make sense to me.
  15. It's not a farewell song for the band -- they still have to do an R40! And one more studio album, just to even out all the different "phases" of the band!
  16. I think the general feelings about the song reflect mine as well -- Caress of Steel married to VT; kicks major ass ... I hear elements of Bastille Day, Double Agent, Freeze, Secret Touch, Armor and Sword, and Caravan ... Overall -- I am very psyched. Its not as good as BU2B or Caravan but its right up there, pretty near those two! I mean, we already have three songs from Clockwork Angels and even if the rest of the album sucks, its already better than the majority of S&A. Is it sonically VT Part Two? (Subtitle: This is how it was supposed to sound!) If so -- I am down with it!!
  17. I'm from Alabama ... you can imagine what's popular around these here parts... 'nuff said!
  18. There's no way Rush is going to play an ampitheatre-outdoors?- in Atlanta in November. Its got to be Phillips Arena.
  19. 1st set: Superconductor or Dreamline. 2nd set: Caravan or Subdivisions. Encore: YYZ / Cygnus X-1 / In the Mood
  20. I like it, "Caravan" squeaks by though barely, cause I am just a fan of when the band gets weird and does crazy stuff, and "BU2B" is more straight-forward. I also agree with the "heavy p/g" assessment; I thought the same thing when I first heard it.
  21. QUOTE Choppy/flow-less, unstructured & random; prefabricated, incompatible pieces forced together, disorganized and aimless Isn't this how the mainstream music press define prog?? Seriously though -- I chose like, only because the verses are a teeny bit weak... But its the first thing I've heard in years that makes me think of classic Rush, I love the weird side of the band. Love Al's solo. And for the record I like BU2B, but to me its the "Limelight" of the record -- an attempt at a melodic rocker that would get played on radio, whereas "Caravan" is the weird track, like "Freewill". Bring on "Headlong Flight"!! It's gonna kill too!
  22. It's just an in-joke, coinciding with 2012 -- they've made past references to themselves before (as daniel pointed out) - like the inside of the HYF CD for instance. And they put the starman on the cover of MP.
