But I think many also like the overall optimistic tone of HYF, even though it's EXTREMELY cheesey, whereas PoW is optimistic but not QUITE as cheesey. Clutching at straws is ace!!! So is HYF

Hey, totally agree. I loved it except the last 2 songs. Everything up until then is mind blowingly brilliant. Lerxts razor-thin solos, Neils superb drumming on Mission and Lock and Key. Geddys super-cool bass on every song. In addition to that it had an excellent overall sound IMO. HYF is still my favourite RUSH album, my mum bought it for me on my 14th birthday and i will never forget the first time i played it through my headphones. HYF really means something to me. I love that record. It turned me onto RUSH and ive never looked back.

Ive enjoyed reading everyones opinions on this so thought id offer mine. Signals for me is a triumph although i can understand why it is seen as a lesser offering than MP. I do think that the bass & drums on Signals are amongst the best on any RUSH record. I have read reviews over the years about the lack of guitar, this is true, but when the guitar does make an appearance its done brilliantly on pretty much every part. Subdivisions, Analog Kid & Chemistry are some of my favourite RUSH tracks & i even like the much maligned (by the band) Countdown. At the end of the day we all have some songs/albums that we prefer over others. Thats because as we all know RUSH have never stood in one place for too long and always made music they find interesting, complex and challenging. The music they make seems to be primarily for themselves but it just happens that the fans love it pretty much each & every time. So whatever your preference from the RUSH catalogue, enjoy it and dont EVER stop enjoying it. After all we are RUSH fans arent we?

The pyros did not go off during Marathon - well the sound did but no fireworks, again not sure that is correct or not. Do not get me wrong it was a great evening and I loved it but like I said something was a bit off - or maybe over the years I've come to expect too much. i was there and agree about the sound. i thought the band with an exuberance i have never seen from them before. there lack of visual pyro was done on purpose as the same hapenned at Manchester and Birmingham. "A lucky shot in the dark" makes sense if you think about it, although i didnt consider it until the 3rd show!!
