Do the Pre-Sales really provide better tix?
opsopcopolis replied to Ron2112's topic in On The Lighted Stage
I've used presale twice now and both times ended up on the floor (last time 10th row Geddy side) which is waaay better than anything I've gotten in general onsales for anything in arenas -
World's BEST drummer - Dylan Elise???
opsopcopolis replied to Thunder Bay Rush's topic in Music Of The Spheres
I have to put in a plug for Kris Myers, the drummer from Umphrey's McGee. I've seen a lot of live music, but I've never seen anybody that works nearly as hard as he does. -
The world's "luckiest" drummers?
opsopcopolis replied to Thunder Bay Rush's topic in Music Of The Spheres
^ The thing that many people don't seem to get about Ringo is that his "simple and boring" fills are just as much a part of all of the Beatles songs as George's composed solos. I mean listen to the Abbey Road medley and try to imagine it with different drum fills. They're all perfectly placed and perfectly represent the composition. Of course most drummers can play that stuff, but could you come up with it? -
QUOTE (irish_matt @ Sep 9 2012, 10:35 AM) QUOTE (bootruss @ Sep 9 2012, 05:04 AM) ..they must be using a click, or a led metronome, it would be impossible to get the tempo right without some reference of what tempo the samples were taken. Even if you were 2bpm out that would be escalated by the end of the phrase! Nope, they haven't used a click or metronome in quite some time. This was brought up on threads during the last tour. There's an interview with the monitor guy and he went to great lengths telling how they use no form of click whatsoever. Neil spends about 3-4 weeks rehearsing prior to band rehearsals to get his sense of time for the songs. neil also talks about how he can feel a song being a little to fast or slow and how he adjusts to how the vocal sits in the song on his last dvd.. If it's really true that they don't use a click, that is SERIOUSLY impressive. You kinda need one when using tracks like that, because like what bootruss said, if you're even 1 or 2 bpm off it will be completely out of synch by the end of the line

QUOTE (Terrapin @ Sep 8 2012, 04:59 PM) Funny how the band seem to think the audience actually believes that Alex is singing backing vocals... Yup. It was painfully obvious that he was not

Opinions on the visuals, lighting, etc.

QUOTE (Snaked @ Sep 8 2012, 10:10 AM) The end of Carnies was epic This. I loved the videos and lighting. Seemed much more original (coloring wise at least) than Time Machine. Overall it was just a very good use of visuals. The rain in Wreckers was probably my favorite -
Do you mean at the show? Cause it was definitely not a separate mic live. Probably just a FOH effect

I seem to be severely against the grain here, but I don't see whats so bad about this. I've gone to plenty of shows (not Rush) with fan club tickets that were drawn randomly day of the show, which meant that I didn't know exactly where I was until I picked them up. If you're assured that you're going to be up front, I don't see why it's such a horrible thing to have a surprise as to the exact location. The price of the VIP thing isn't only for the ticket, it's largely for all the swag and stuff. -
QUOTE (Todem @ Apr 25 2012, 01:23 PM) Wait a second......I will bring my Mac Book and pay to use the wifi on the plane! Yeah...that's the ticket! (first 10 rows I hope ) Theres internet on airplanes now?! What'll they think of next?

Hey all, My brother and I are looking for a good place to start by way of shows from a few tours and were wondering if there is a general consensus on some of the best shows playing wise and recording quality wise from the Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, and Signals tours. Thanks for any help!
