  1. I could be wrong, but my guess would be because of all of the corn fields around Columbus. Also there is a field of giant concrete ears of corn in suburban Dublin - http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/9527 The Doo Dah reference was great. Local, funny, and saw a sign for the parade as we were coming into arena.
  2. While it is fun to poke at musicians for this, I could easily see it being easy to forget which city I was in while on tour and suddenly having to remember that city in front of the paying audience. It would only have to happen once before I looked for a way to keep from embarrassing the band and the fans that way again. However, Geddy being the good and ultrapolite fellow that he is would probably have actually died on stage if this ever happened to him. The shame would be to much for his Canadian blood to take. Plus, these days there is probably somebody shouting into his ear monitor which city to say. (Or, I bet it actually is on the monitor that scrolls lyrics.)
  3. Neil may have also have read the Alfred Bester short story "Disappearing Act". A society is locked in an endless war and has only engineers and scientists left, and it turns out they need artists. The year, 2112. It is very much the type of story Neil may have run across in those years, and there are some thematic similarities. Just throwing it out there. You can find the story online.
  4. Vapor Trails - Indy: My wife and I had back of the pavilion seats. On a whim, and a good deal of wifely indulgence, I walked up to the venue box office when it opened a few hours before the show. Ended up with two seats very close to the stage, although not front row. Snakes and Arrows 2nd leg, bought 1 ticket off of ticketmaster the day of the show for Cincy. It was fairly close, probably could have done better at the ticket window but didn't want to drive two hours without ticket in hand as it were. Day of show there will be stuff available from ticket vendor or the venue box office. You are still going to pay the face value of the ticket, but probably not any of the super duper premium package stuff. It is better if there is one of you, the more seats you need together the harder it is to get upfront. If it is just you, patience will be rewarded.
  5. I saw the show in Columbus and the one in St. Louis, and while it pains me to say as Nationwide arena is my "home" venue, from my vantage point the sound was MUCH better in STL. Although both arenas were pretty darn close to being full, considering the areas in which tickets were sold. At both shows the upperbowl seating along the sides of the arena was closed off, while the seating at the end of the bowl was sold (and well sold). Those seats must be obstructed by the lights and PA, because the promoter could almost certainly have sold those as being closer to the stage. My point, anybody who tells you the shows aren't selling well, or sound awful or whatever, is at best giving an opinion. An opinion sometimes contradicted by facts. My wife and I both noticed that the STL crowd reacted with more enthusiasm to every bit of the the CA material. Neither show was the most technically perfect I have seen the band do. Geddy lost a monitor and we were treated to a little improve. Plus a couple of flubs here and there. One of the violinists broke a bow, and the white haired guy had to sit out a song while waiting on the replacement - but he picked at his violin. Clearly everybody in the string ensemble is enjoying their work. At each show saw a different member of the ensemble come back and watch TSOR from the side of the stage. I don't think I have ever seen the guys more loose and having fun then I did in these shows. Especially in STL. Neil seems relaxed, even when things are not going his way. He missed two stick tosses in one song in Columbus, one of which Alex picked up and tossed into the crowd. Neil is even into the t-shirt giveaway now. I love the different setlists. I love seeing the 80's stuff that I did not think they would ever do again. The lighting and stage art even seem more interesting than the Time Machine tour. I can't wait to see what they do next.
  6. QUOTE (Chicken hawk @ Sep 19 2012, 10:41 AM) QUOTE (Howye @ Sep 19 2012, 11:18 AM) It makes sense that the stage would not move back and that they not move around the sections. Those two, 102 and 116, are directly to the side of the stage and for myself I would think twice. For me part of the fun of a Rush show is the lights and videos, and all the other. Then again my first show was upper deck at Reunion Arena in Dallas almost on top of Alex, and that was interesting too. Are the free upgrades people being moved from sparsely sold upper bowl sections just to fill in gaps and improve the atmosphere? I don't think that is going to happen in Columbus, but you might get lucky. Anyways, tomorrow night I am taking my son to his first concert and the clock can't move fast enough. Howye.....how exciting..your son is enjoying his first concert with his dad ! Have a spectacular time ! Indeed, he is at 8 and excited to go. He has been wanting to go for years, but we told him not till he is 8 - and look at that a tour. His sister is mad she can't go. She is only 6, but by the next tour she will be there too. I have seen the setlist and the pictures. Don't care what anybody says, not a song on there I don't like. Then on Sat. do it again!

  8. Not sure about the upgrade many speak of. What I can tell you is that you can go to the box office day of show and buy for full price seats that have been released and which are usually pretty good. Plus, right now on ticketmaster there are seats in sec 102 being sold. This section would be directly stage left IF the seating chart shown is used. However, for the Time Machine Tour the show sold extremely well and the stage was moved back. The sections were actually renumbered, and sold that way. It was a little confusing, but if you had bought tickets close to the stage, you were still close. The upper bowl is showing mostly sold. The sections at the back are open but may fill up as show time approaches. I have no idea if the section numbers are being moved around, or if the tickets for 102 really are directly to the side of the stage. I may be talking to somebody at the arena today, and if I can find out I will post it here.
