In one thread we're talking about how Rush is bigger with more exposure than ever and in another we're saying most people have never heard of them. Which is it?

    It can be, is, both.

  2. As much as I am looking forward to "meeting" them, if you can call it that. I do not see them as celebrity. More of someone I have a great respect for and admire their work, similar to an author or researcher.

Neil? Eh, he is so pretentious I have no desire to meet him. Surprised he has not locked himself away Howard Hughes style...

The reason RUSH rescheduled the Greensboro show is that Live Nation also scheduled the Royal Comedy Tour at the War Memorial next door.  Don't know if it's parking issues or what?  The comedy tour was asked to move their date and they refused.  RUSH agreed to move the show date.  This led to a domino effect and rather than having 4 shows in 5 days....they moved the Toledo show too.  You've gotta love Live Nation...@#%$-ups.

If they cannot host concurrent events, why have two venues? Not like either is competing for the others audience.

Where was the FTC and DOJ when Ticket Monster bought Live Nation which had already bought Music Today?

What sort of unforseen circumstance would be acceptable to you?

I did read on RIAB that Toledo had to be postponed because of the April 1 /2 postponement.

If the venue had to postpone for some reason, or maybe there was some sort of equipment issue that couldn't be resolved before the show, saying something along those lines would probably appease most fans.

But really, if the band had to postpone for a personal and/or medical reason, they don't "owe it" to you to tell you why. And it would violate the US HIPAA laws...which apply to everyone in the US, citizens or not.

I'm not saying that fans don't have the right to be ticked that the shows were postponed. I'd be, especially if I couldn't make the rescheduled show. But to say that we are owed an explanation?  eyesre4.gif

Fair question. I would say there are no unforeseen circumstances that are acceptable without explanation. In other words, I don't have a problem with the postponement, I have a problem with the arrogance of the press release. How about this:

"The Arena in Greensboro has a conflict and cannot accomodate Rush on April 1. Due to the amount of chewing tobacco left behind after Wednesday's tractor pull the arena will need an extra day to clean. We are sorry for any hardship this may have caused but we all know: In North Carolina TRACTOR PULL COMES FIRST!"

That would have been fine with me!

Monster Truck Shows are on Sunday Sunday Sunday!

They need to tell their customers WTF is going on. A reschedule with five days to spare is totally unacceptable and totally bush-league.

I don't have a horse in this race, but damn, if I did I'd be pissed. For me and my family, holidays are scheduled around Rush concerts. How can they be going with, "unforseen circumstances?"

rush doesn't owe anyone anything really. bush league? not really.

personal issues are just that, and if that's the case no one around here will ever know why, cuz it's not our beeswax... and in a month few folks will care or even remember the moved dates...

    "bush league??" seriously?

Artists without fans are beggars. While they do not personally owe anyone anything I do believe they owe their fan base something. It is easy to become emotional and react versus respond.

Had the same thing happen when Social D had to reschedule here in Phoenix last year, and they rescheduled months out.

Given the degree that music can play in one's life, if you have the disposable income, I say why not? There are chapters in my life that I can attribut my making it through those times with music. Everyone from Pennywise to Bad Religion to Social Distortion to Flogging Molly to Rush. Music is so much more than just music to so many people.

I have a respect for the Rush guys but I also seriously have a man crush on Greg Graffin as well. I would pay thousands for the chance to meet Greg.

    Exactly.

We simply do not know this guy's economic situation. While 3K may sound like a ridiculous amount to most of us, this guy may be a multi-millionaire. $3,000 has different meanings to everyone

Agreed. I believe it is judgmental and presumptuous to try and decipher someone's motivation or means.

  7. I believe it is certainly a cult following. Very little middle ground, you love them or just do not care for them.

I would rarely engage a "stranger" in conversation about music anymore than I would politics or religion. The opinions are abundant and very strong, typically.
