  1. I like Half the World. Cool video, too. Sorry.
  2. I can't disagree with this statement! I am obsessed with everything about them. Behind my wife and girls, they are the most important thing in my life.
  3. I'd have to say Rivendell. I like my Rush heavy, so I can't say any of the slow songs are my favorites, but I am a huge nerd that likes LoTR, so this was right up my alley.
  4. Just had to pass along an awesome (at least to me) personal story. I have two girls, 11 and 8. They were both fairly into Rush, but were probably mostly familiar with CA and then a general Rush greatest hits, or songs that are on live DVD's, as I have tortured them since they were born with watching the DVD's when I exercise. Anyway, I got each of them a basic MP3 player for Christmas and downloaded every Rush album onto them. They were super excited. It is the funnist damn thing to hear my 8 year old walk around the house belting out Temples of Syrinx at the top of her lungs oblivious to how awful she sounds and what the words really are (even hard to tell for an adult...). My 11 year old has a new favorite song every day now, the latest being The Way the Wind Blows. I had to print out the lyrics sheets to all the albums for her so she can study the lyrics, too. Has anyone else had this type of experience to share with their kids?
  5. This album is towards the bottom of their catalog for me, but I still really like it. I don't listen to it often, but when I do, I enjoy it! Chain Lightning, Presto and The Pass are my favorites. I wish they could do a re-mix on this and beef it up a little...
  6. Does anyone remember if this is PG or if there is any swearing? I would like to let my girls watch this with me, but don't want to expose them to F bombs, etc.
  7. This is actually really hard to do. I guess my wheel house is late 70's-early 80's. 8. It is hard for me to say ESL, because it really isn't a concert - really none of them are until Rio (correct me if I am wrong). Other than ATWAS, they are all conglomerations of different recordings. ESL just sounds like a live greatest hits, though, not a concert, where at least the others (pre Rio) fake being a concert a little better. Rio has to be up there at the top due to set list and energy. ATWAS is just raw awesomeness.
  9. I got into rush after PoW. At the time, I wasn't a big fan of that album (I am now, so I see how you felt). My first concert video was the GuP Tour. I wore that thing out. Hence, I really liked the album. I also had Through the Camera Eye - see where this is going? I'm much more into Kid Gloves, The Body Electric, Red Lenses and The Ememy Within, than the "hits" off the album. At the time, I really wished they would go back to the "classic" sound, but I still really like these albums. They are really good albums, just different.
  10. I have to agree. It was a bottom thirder for me, but I can't get it out of my head. That annoying chorus is so catchy!
  11. I have to change my DVD choice to the GuP video. What a great show. This is a nostalgia choice, as this was the first Rush video I ever got, back on VHS. I rented it from the movie store and never took it back - sorry Discount Video... They are in top form. I think was right at the peak of their youthful creativity. Geddy finally grew into his voice and their playing was just incredible. Hard to have any stinkers on the set list at that point, too...
  12. I liked them, they were just too loud in the mix sometimes... I could go for full back up singers, too, just so that we don't have to have sampled Geddy and Alex pretending he is singing.
  13. I had that thought listening to Dreamline, then YYZ happened.
  14. ...been listening to a Rush song and thought "this is the greatest f'ing song ever!" and then the next song comes on and you think the same thing? I've been having it happen to me watching the CA DVD (not that it hasn't ever happened before). The most recent songs that made me think that were ending the DVD with 2112 Finale (gives me chills all the time ) and then restarting with Subdivisions.
  15. CD - Exit Stage Left - just an awesome "live" greatest hits from the era DVD - Rush in Rio - just have to love the energy and set list
  16. I definitely think they give it their all every time they play - at least when I have seen them, which is quite a few. They are always having a really good time, too, as far as I can tell... The one thing I never really notice when I am there, as I am too into what is going on, are the little pranks that you see on the videos. I am guessing those things happen every night and they act like it is the funniest thing they have seen every time it happens - or the little things they do to make each other laugh - is it the same thing every night - I can't imagine that is...
  17. I had to pay $800 for front row center. It was worth every penny!
  18. I didn't have the pleasure of seeing this song at either of the shows I attended this tour. I thought it was awesome on the video. The crowd seemed to be into it pretty well, too. It is a pretty catchy, straightforward rock song.
  19. I think Freewill has the best overall solo section - all 3 just go at it. I really like Alex's live solos in The Weapon from the P/G tour video nd Mission from ASoH. They are very moving emotionally and just sound awesome.
  20. What You're Doing Anthem The Necromancer Lessons Cinderella Man La Villia Natural Science Red Barchetta New World Man Kid Gloves Marathon (again even if it was just played - so good live) Prime Mover or Turn the Page Chain Lightning Dreamline Cut to the Chase DOG YEARS!! or Driven Earthshine Mal Nar The Anarchist or Headlong Flight
  21. I hate to be so boring, but The Spirit of Radio and Permanent Waves. Tomorrow I could pick La Villia and Hemispheres. Too many awesome choices...
  22. Is there a box set of the earlier records other than Sectors? I have done a brief search on Amazon and nothing else comes up. Thanks.
